A Comparative Study of Skepticism Towards Triumph in the Search for Truth Imam Al-Ghazali in Al-Munqidz min Al-Dhalal and Sophie in Sophie's World

    Get PDF
This study aims to compare the dynamics of the search for truth experienced by Imam al-Ghazali in his autobiographical work Al-Munqidh min al-Dhalal and the fictional character Sophie in Jostein Gaarder’s novel Sophie's World. The theme of the search for truth is significant as it reflects the intellectual and spiritual struggles of human beings across time and cultures, offering deep reflections on the crisis of meaning often found in modern life. Using a qualitative approach and content analysis method, this research examines the stages both figures undergo—facing skepticism, engaging in critical reflection, and ultimately attaining philosophical and spiritual conviction. Imam al-Ghazali experienced an epistemological crisis that led him to the path of Sufism as a means of achieving certainty, while Sophie embarks on a rational journey through philosophical dialogues toward existential understanding. The findings show that, despite originating from different historical and intellectual traditions, both figures follow a similar pattern in their quest for truth: intellectual unrest, distrust of external authority, pursuit of independent thinking, and the eventual discovery of a personal and transformative form of belief. These findings highlight the importance of dialogue between Eastern spiritual traditions and Western philosophy in understanding the dynamics of truth-seeking in today’s global and contemporary context

This study aims to investigate the effect of adding resiprene and stearic acid on the mechanical properties and surface morphology of polyolefin blends, specifically polypropylene (PP) and polystyrene (PS). Resiprene was incorporated as an additive to enhance flexibility, while stearic acid was introduced to improve polymer compatibility and blend dispersion. The test results showed that the addition of 20 phr resiprene to polypropylene yielded the highest tensile strength of 9.63 MPa and an elongation of 5.85%, indicating high flexibility and compatibility of the blend. In contrast, the tensile strength of the PS-based blends was generally lower than that of the PP-based counterparts. The addition of 1 phr stearic acid proved effective in reducing the number of pores on the surface of both PP and PS blends. Interestingly, the PS–resiprene–stearic acid blend exhibited a more refined surface morphology compared to the PP–resiprene–stearic acid blend, suggesting higher compatibility of PS within the composite system

Urgency of Regulation on Bankruptcy Applicants for Regional Public Companies

    Get PDF
The absence of a clear legal framework governing the authority to initiate bankruptcy proceedings against Regional Public Companies (Perusahaan Umum Daerah, or Perumda) has resulted in a normative gap that undermines legal certainty and institutional accountability. This article explores the urgency of establishing a new normative order (ius constituendum) concerning eligible bankruptcy petitioners against Perumda by critically examining its legal standing within Indonesia’s economic and public law system. Employing a normative juridical method that integrates statutory and conceptual approaches, this research applies systematic and grammatical interpretations to relevant primary and secondary legal sources. The findings reveal that the lack of explicit legal norms not only exposes Perumda to arbitrary actions and potential misuse of authority but also jeopardizes creditor protection and public service continuity. The study concludes by advocating for a firm regulatory framework that delineates clear procedural safeguards, thereby reinforcing the function of law as an instrument of justice and public interest protection

This research is a field study conducted in Tanjung Tiram sub-district, Batu Bara Regency. The research question in this study is how the implementation of Permensos No. 1 of 2018 concerning the Family Hope Program in Tanjung Tiram sub-district, Batu Bara Regency, what are the obstacles or challenges faced in the implementation process of Permensos No. 1 of 2018 concerning the Family Hope Program, how is the implementation of Permensos No. 1 of 2018 on the Family Hope Program is reviewed from the perspective of Imam al-Mawardi. In this study, the author identified the beneficiaries of the Family Hope Program as the research sample. In collecting data, the author used the following methods: observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the reality of the implementation of the Family Hope Program in Tanjung Tiram District, Batu Bara Regency, is still inadequate. The Family Hope Program (PKH) facilitators in Tanjung Tiram District claim that the families receiving social assistance are the right targets and have never experienced any obstacles. However, after conducting interviews, researchers found that there were still many beneficiaries from the upper-middle class. This was because Penaping still did not pay enough attention to the coordination of the latest population census, activity planning, and the accuracy of services related to the Family Hope Program. From Imam Al-Mawardi's perspective, the implementation of the Family Hope Program in Tanjung Tiram Subdistrict is still far from successful. According to Imam Al-Mawardi, this is related to two institutions that play a role and are responsible, namely the wizarah and wazir. Therefore, the implementation of the Family Hope Program in Tanjung Tiram Subdistrict has not been fully carried out effectively because each institutional structure has not fully understood their roles and functions, and there is a lack of coordination between the wizarah Tanfidzh (the highest-ranking minister) and the wazir (as the implementing body under them), resulting in the program not being implemented to its full potential. Keywords: Implementation, Family Hope Progra
