From Play to Practice: Designing the Menararia Board Game for Promoting Clean and Healthy Living Behavior Among School-Aged Children
Clean and Healthy Living Behavior in schools serves as a foundational step toward cultivating healthy and high-quality human resources for national development. This study aimed to develop a health promotion medium in the form of a board game called Menararia, designed to enhance knowledge and engagement among school-aged children. This research employed a qualitative research and development (R&D) design. Informants were selected purposively and consisted of three experts (a media specialist, a public health expert, and a practitioner) and three elementary school students. Data were collected through direct observation and in-depth interviews. The development process comprised strategic design, media development, and initial testing. During the strategic design phase, the team defined communication objectives using the SMART framework, launched a school-based improvement program called ARSHAT (Anak Bersih, Sehat, Kuat or Clean, Healthy, and Strong Children), identified key implementation partners (e.g., Jember Health Office, Semboro Health Center, and UNICEF Indonesia), and established an implementation timeline (March–May 2023). The development phase included creating educational materials based on eight indicators, designing game components (board, cards, and rules), and producing visual elements with consistent use of blue, white, and gray color schemes and child-friendly typography (Poppins, PhagsPa, Arial). Experts found the game largely appropriate but recommended minor adjustments. The Menararia board game shows strong potential as a health communication medium to promote Clean and Healthy Living Behavior among children. Initial feedback suggests it is engaging and contextually relevant, though minor content revisions are needed to optimize its effectiveness. Life Satisfaction Level: A Study of Traditional Fishermen in Paluh Sibaji Village, Deli Serdang District, Indonesia
Indonesia ranks 80th in the world’s happiness index, lagging behind neighboring countries such as Singapore (30th), Malaysia (59th), and Thailand (58th). The happiness index consists of three dimensions: life satisfaction (education, work, and home facilities), feelings (happiness, anxiety, and depression), and meaningfulness of life (independence, environmental mastery, and self-acceptance). In 2021, North Maluku was the happiest province while North Sumatra had the lowest happiness index, nationally ranking seventh lowest and being one of the provinces with poor incomes, education, and housing facilities experienced by fishermen in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the Life Satisfaction Level among fishermen. This was a descriptive cross-sectional study with 107 samples taken based on the Slovin formula from the population of 700 people. The data was obtained by using a questionnaire that had been tested for the validity and reliability. A univariate data analysis was performed by using SPSS version 25. The results showed that 47.66% respondents were >45 years old, 43.93% completed junior high school, 7.67% had 5-10 years of work experience, and 57.94% smoked. While 52.34% perceived their quality of life as not good, 85.98% felt not secure about old age, 77.57% felt their jobs did not meet financial needs, 82.24% reported their finance was not good enough, 60.75% felt their health quality was not good, and 74.77% found their living conditions were inadequate. Moreover, 64.49% considered that their sleep quality was not good, 77.57% had bad social relationships, and 64.49% struggled to manage negative emotions. Only 47.67% of the fishermen considered that their quality of life was good. Most of these traditional fishermen had low levels of life satisfaction. Therefore, improving welfare through expansion of economic opportunities, access to health services, and community-based social support is needed to enhance the quality of life and resilience of the fishermen. Determinants of Health Workers Compliance in Implementing EMR in Regional Hospitals in Bali
Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) refer to the digitization of medical documentation and associated processes, aimed at enhancing data completeness and accuracy. This study examined the compliance of health workers with EMR system implementation. The research was conducted at Klungkung Regency Hospital in Bali, involving 520 participants, including general practitioners, specialists, nurses, midwives, medical record officers, health analysts, pharmacists, nutritionists, and radiographers. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire distributed via Google Forms, employing a total sampling technique. The findings revealed that several factors, namely competence in information technology, system knowledge, perceived benefits and ease of use, as well as organizational support and training, were significantly associated with EMR implementation. Among these, system knowledge exerted the strongest influence, with an Adjusted Odds Ratio (AOR) of 3.549. This suggests that respondents with a high level of system knowledge were over three times more likely to implement EMRs effectively compared to those with limited understanding. Knowledge plays a pivotal role in preparing health workers for technological adaptation. Those with sufficient knowledge are better equipped to navigate system features and apply them in accordance with established standard operating procedures. Health workers who possess a strong understanding of EMRs tend to be more receptive to adopting the system, underscoring the importance of comprehensive training and education. Enhancing knowledge through targeted training, socialization, and continuous professional development is essential to ensure the successful implementation and optimal utilization of EMRs in healthcare settings Keywords: Electronic Medical Record, Health Worker Complianc
The Relationship of Risk Factors to Incidence Prediabetes Young Age Groups
Prediabetes is increasingly prevalent among young adults, presenting a critical opportunity for early intervention to prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes and associated cardiovascular complications. This study investigates the association between selected lifestyle-related risk factors and prediabetes incidence among undergraduate medical students. A total of 50 students from Diponegoro University (cohorts 2021 and 2022) were enrolled through purposive and random sampling methods. Clinical assessments included fasting blood glucose and 2-hour oral glucose tolerance tests, analyzed using the hexokinase method. Data on obesity (body mass index), sleep quality (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index), physical activity (International Physical Activity Questionnaire–Short Form), and family history of diabetes were collected through validated instruments. The prevalence of prediabetes was significantly higher among students with obesity (p < 0.001), poor sleep quality (p = 0.048), low physical activity (p = 0.005), and a family history of diabetes (p = 0.006). Multivariate analysis identified obesity as the most influential independent predictor (OR 7.30, 95% CI: 1.61–33.20, p = 0.010). These findings highlight the urgent need for preventive strategies targeting modifiable risk factors in young populations. Interventions focusing on healthy weight management, regular physical activity, and sleep hygiene may play a pivotal role in mitigating early metabolic risk Keywords: Prediabetes, Young Adults, Sleep Quality, Physical Activity, Medical Student
Motivation as a Mediator of Communication and Work Discipline on Employee Performance : A Study at Karangasem Hospital
This research examines the role of communication and discipline in influencing employee performance, with motivation serving as a link, at Karangasem Regional Hospital. In the healthcare sector, the quality of employee performance is crucial for institutional success and is closely tied to effective communication and consistent discipline. The study involved 73 medical personnel using a census approach, with data collected through questionnaires. The analysis included validity, reliability, classical assumption tests, and path analysis. The findings indicate that both communication and discipline positively impact work motivation. This increase in motivation correlates with enhanced employee performance. Furthermore, motivation was found to act as a mediator between communication and work performance, though no similar effect was observed between work discipline and performance. Based on these results, the study recommends that hospital management focus on improving communication patterns among medical staff and strengthen discipline standards to boost motivation and productivity. These findings offer valuable insights for human resource management within the regional health service environment and provide a foundation for future research in similar fields. This research underscores the importance of fostering a motivating work environment through improved communication and discipline to optimize employee performance in healthcare settings.
