    Get PDF
The role of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers is crucial in shaping students’ character, as they not only serve as central figures but also bear the primary responsibility of educating, teaching, guiding, and training students to become faithful, God-fearing, knowledgeable, virtuous, and responsible individuals. Moral strengthening is the core focus of Islamic education, which requires a deep understanding of character and moral values as well as the application of appropriate strategies and methods to foster positive character development. This study employs a qualitative approach through library research to identify the role of Islamic Education teachers in character formation and to analyze their efforts in reinforcing moral values. The findings reveal that PAI teachers act as role models in instilling religious values and moral understanding, while also guiding students to develop social awareness, empathy, and good conduct. Consequently, moral strengthening is considered a strategic solution to address the ongoing moral crisis, particularly in Indonesia

The focus of learning for children with special needs is the concentration of attention on lessons, learning materials, and the process of acquiring them carried out by children who require special behavior in following the learning process. This study aims to help children with special needs to stay focused in the learning process. The method used in this study is qualitative research with data collection techniques namely interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of the study show that first, the implementation of learning at TK Mitra Inalum Tanjung Gading, Sei Suka District, Batubara Regency is with PAIKEM learning (Active, Innovative, Creative, Effective and Fun Learning); second, the focus of learning for children with special needs during learning there is a significant difference between the focus of learning for normal children and the focus of learning for children with special needs. When the teacher delivers the teaching material, normal children always focus on the teacher's delivery. While children with special needs are sometimes able to focus and sometimes not. So the homeroom teacher is assisted by a companion teacher so that children can focus on following the learning process.; and third, the efforts of teachers in addressing the learning focus of children with special needs at the Inalum Tanjung Gading Partner Kindergarten, Sei Suka District, Batubara Regency, namely by preparing educational game tools, brain gymnastics, audio-visual learning media, assistance from accompanying teachers, and mini parenting

Geographically Weighted Negative Binomial Regression (GWNBR) Modeling of Tuberculosis (TB) in North Sumatra

    Get PDF
Tuberculosis (TB) remains a serious public health challenge in North Sumatra, Indonesia, necessitating precise statistical modeling to understand its spatial patterns and associated risk factors. This study applies three statistical approaches — Poisson Regression, Negative Binomial Regression (NBR), and Geographically Weighted Negative Binomial Regression (GWNBR) — to investigate the distribution of TB cases across 33 districts and cities in North Sumatra in 2022. An overdispersion test revealed significant variance, indicating the inappropriateness of the Poisson model. The NBR model identified the number of medical personnel as the sole significant covariate, yielding an AIC of 478.31. A Breusch–Pagan test confirmed significant spatial heterogeneity across areas, justifying the use of GWNBR. The GWNBR approach captured spatially varying relationships between TB incidence and covariates, providing more localized insights and yielding an AIC of 512.34. The findings highlight the importance of adopting spatially adaptive methods when modeling disease patterns, allowing for targeted, area-specific public health interventions

Predicting Student Stress Levels Based on Lifestyle Factors Using the Catbost Algorithm

    Get PDF
This study developed a machine learning model to classify student stress levels based on lifestyle factors using the CatBoost algorithm. Data were collected from 630 students of the SciTech Faculty at State Islamic University of North Sumatra through a questionnaire comprising 14 Likert-scale items. Instrument validation was confirmed using Pearson’s r (>0.821, p < 0.05) and Cronbach’s Alpha (0.866). Preprocessing included outlier removal with IQR, feature encoding, stratified train-test split (80:20), and 5-fold cross-validation. The training set was imbalanced and addressed using the SMOTE technique. Model evaluation used accuracy (85%), precision, recall, and F1-score per class, with high recall (0.97) for moderate and improved F1-score (0.79) for low stress. Final classification used a 20% test subset (126 samples). Feature importance analysis identified task procrastination, poor sleep quality, and weak time management as key predictors. These findings affirm CatBoost's reliability through consistent results, scalability, and balanced evaluation metrics beyond mere accuracy
