Cantar de los Cantares Rabbá: Seis fragmentos de la Guenizá de El Cairo conservados en Cambridge University Library
In the present study, its author has edited the six extant fragments of the Midrash Song of Songs Rabbah, originally discovered in the Cairo Genizah, though now in the Cambridge University Library. The author analyzes the fragments' orthographic as well as morphosyntactic and literary peculiarities, and, in addition, compares these fragmentary readings against other manuscript and printed versions of this same Midrash. Details derived from careful analysis of these fragments point to an early date of composition; they also provide a basis for a just appreciation of the texts.

In 2Kgs 23:4b-5 the Vetus Latina (= VL) doesn't seem to depend on the Septuagint text edited by A. Rahlfs. So the comparison with the main editions and recensions of the Greek Version is necessary for identifying the archetype supposed by the Latin translator. Especially the so-called recensio Luciani, or Antiochene Text (= TA), shows various similarities with the VL about the procedure of rendering the archetype. Compared to the other Ancient Versions, both of them have some coincidences, but of different type. The analogies between VL and TA in v. 4b are of formal nature and concern the used paraphrastic procedure: duplicates, midrashic expansions, explanatory changes; in v. 5, instead, both texts agree substantially. The notice of massacre of the idolatrous priests was already in the v. 5 of the archetype of both of them. Perhaps the VL depended on the same archetype of TA and rendered it more faithfully in v. 5, but more freely, and imitating its technique, in v. 4b.En 2Reyes 23,4b-5 la Vetus Latina (= VL) no parece depender del texto de la Septuaginta editado por A. Rahlfs.

Some cases in the Masorah of Spanish Manuscripts
The present article analyzes some masoretic notes of the Pentateuch of different Spanish Manuscripts, some of them having been used as basis for the Cisneros' Complutensian Polyglot. In order to demonstrate the proximity of the Spanish codices with the Ben Asher tradition, I compare the notes of masorah with those of the manuscripts Leningrad, Or 4445 and Aleppo, and with the BHS and Ben Hayyîm editions as well.
This study, based on documents of Hamburg's Archives, deals with various aspects of the daily life of the first Portuguese Jews to arrive in that Hanseatic city at the end of the 16th century, their interactions with the Ashkenazis (called «tudescos») and the Lutherans, who were openly anti-Jewish.
Among the Inquisition documents recently acquired by the Bancroft Library, University of California, Berkeley, is the trial of Leonor de Carvajal, sister of the more famous Luis de Carvajal. The songs and poems recorded in Leonor de Carvajal's trial, including a version of the Mosaic Law in verse, proved to be damning evidence against Leonor and the rest of the family. This study examines several texts, some of which are published here for the first time, taking into account their historical context and underscoring their importance in the Crypto-Jewish oral tradition.
This study presents a first-time critical edition and analysis of two Spanish fragments of the Vulgate 1-2 Macabees. Both readings shed new light on two different aspects dealing with the tenth- and eleventh-century Vulgate Latin version of the Bible in Spain. The first fragment dates from the eleventh century, and is part of the Vich Episcopal Museum collection (fragment XIII/19, fol. 8). A fragmentary text from 1 Macabees 1,46-2,12 is an example of the type of Vulgate text employed in eleventh-century Catalonia. The second fragment derives from the lost Valvanera Bible, parts of the Vulgate text of which have been conserved in sparse marginal glosses copied by H. del Castillo in 1571.
Among the pieces of the Gabinete de Antigüedades of the Real Academia de la Historia we find one inscription of the Assyrian king Sennacherib (704-681 B.C.) which comes from his palace in Nineveh. Some innacuracies in the former editions of the text by J. F. Riaño (1895) and J. M. Peñuela (1966), new data emerged from the catalogue work of the pieces kept in the aforementioned Gabinete de Antigüedades, as well as the publication of recent and important works on the epigraphy and sculptures of Sennacherib's palace recommended the review of some aspects of the inscription. This was probably torne out from Room IX around 1850, in particular from the back of one of its relief slabs. The text was not accordingly intended for public reading. The cuneiform inscription mentions Sennacherib's palace and titles, possibly as a means of associating the name of the king with his monumental works. A small part of these, namely two beautiful reliefs, are also kept at the RAH, and probably come from the same room of the Palace.
The present publication includes two historical documents, one in Hebrew, the second in transliterated Hebrew-Spanish, discovered in the Plasencia Cathedral Archives sewn to a bill of sale. The bill of sale was published in Sefarad 59 (1999) pp. 275-279 by Marciano de Hervás. The Hebrew document, dated in Plasencia on September 26, 1461, is a power of attorney signed by Yento Abenataf authorizing his mother doña Vellida to freely dispose of the inheritance pertaining to his deceased father and, most particularly, his share of the sale of the house. The aljamiado document, dated in Plasencia on September 22, 1462, is a public document attesting to the payment that doña Vellida admits having received for the sale of the house.
