(Setonaikai), on the viability of 10 human cancer cells including endocrine 
therapy-resistant breast cancer cells

ABSTRACT  Here, we established an ethanol extraction method and obtained extracts of 
Neopyropia yezoensis cultivated in three different locations (extracts A-C) in the Seto Inland 
Sea (Setonaikai). The effects of the extracts on 10 human cancer cells derived from seven 
different organs were investigated. Extract A exerted the strongest anti-proliferative effects 
on all types of cancer cells, including an endocrine therapy-resistant aggressive breast cancer 
model, LTED cells. We analyzed the effects of the extracts on MCF-7 (parental cells for 
producing LTED cells)/LTED cells, along with four established anti-proliferative agents 
(etoposide, LY2835219, paclitaxel, and trichostatin A) with different action mechanisms. 
The inhibitory effects of extract A on both breast cancer cells were comparable with those of 
paclitaxel, although the other agents showed a preferable reduction in MCF-7 cell viability. 
We provide evidence of the involvement of component(s), especially those of extract A of N. 
yezoensis, which exerted anti-proliferative effects on cancer cells. 
抄録　先ず、我々は瀬戸内海の異なる 3地域（抽出物 A-C）で採取した Neopyropia 
yezoensis（スサビノリ）のエタノール抽出物の方法を確立し、得られた抽出物が異
なる 7臓器由来の計 10種類のヒトがん細胞パネルの増殖与える影響を調査した。そ
の結果、抽出物 Aは内分泌治療抵抗性の乳がんモデルである LTED細胞を含む全て
のがん細胞に対して最も強い細胞増殖抑制作用を示した。次に、MCF-7細胞（LTED
細胞へ形質変化する前の乳がん細胞）と LTED細胞に対する 4種の異なる作用機序
を有する抗がん剤も含めた化合物（エトポシド、LY2835219、パクリタキセル、およ
びトリコスタチン A）の影響を解析した。パクリタキセル以外の化合物はMCF-7細
胞の生存率を強く低下させたが、両乳がん細胞に対する抽出物 Aの阻害効果はパク
リタキセルと同等であった。本研究より、Neopyropia yezoensisの抽出物 Aにはがん
細胞の増殖に対する抑制性の成分が含まれることが示唆された。

抄録　酵母はカビ・キノコと同じ菌類でありながら、形態学的特徴が乏しい点にお
いて細菌と共通しており、細菌と似た分類・同定の歴史を辿ってきた。一方で、真
核生物である酵母には、性に基づく生物学的な種の概念がある点において、細菌と
は大きく異なる。そして、酵母の分類・同定手法、分類体系は、科学の進歩に伴い
変遷してきた。本稿では、酵母の分類の背景、種レベルの同定法として一般的になっ
ている生理・生化学的性状試験、DNA塩基配列解析、最新のMALDI-TOF MS法、
さらに“One Fungus = One Name (1F=1N)”に伴う二重命名法廃止と統一名の導入の
影響などを概説する。

ABSTRACT  The cationic ZnII part of aqua(1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane)zinc(II) 
bis(perchlorate), [Zn(C8H20N4)(H2O)](ClO4)2, exhibits a slightly distorted square-pyramidal 
coordination environment with a water molecule in the apical position. In the crystal, the 
macrocyclic ring alternates between two conformations with equal occupancies. Two of 
the three perchlorate anions are situated about a twofold rotation axis, and one of them 
shows disorder of the O atoms with occupancies of 0.62 (7) and 0.38 (7). In the crystal, the 
complexes are connected by intermolecular hydrogen bonding via the perchlorate anions.  
抄録　Aqua(1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane)zinc(II) bis(perchlorate)の結晶構造を X線結
晶構造解析により明らかにした。
