Bone healing efficacy of Lakshagrishtiksheeradi churna over Calcium +Vit D3 in Avrana Kanda Bhagna (Closed fractures of long bones) - A Randomized controlled clinical trial
Background: Delayed bone healing or non-union of fractures owns high rate of complications, morbidity and mortality. It possesses enormous burden to both patients and healthcare system. Till now there is no proven molecule which could enhance the process of bone healing. Hence, time tested Lakshagrishtiksheeradi churna, an Ayurvedic formulation is explored for its efficacy in the management of Avrana Kanda Bhagna. Objective: To Evaluate Bone healing efficacy of Lakshagrishtiksheeradi churna in Avrana Kanda Bhagna. Methods: Total 30 patients meeting the inclusion criteria of Avrana Kanda Bhagna, with age group 14-50 years participated in the study. They were randomly divided into two groups. Group A received Lakshagrishtiksheeradi churna 6 grams and group B Tab Calcium 500 mg +VitD3 respectively twice a day for 30days. Assessments were done through various variables like Pain, Tenderness, Swelling and Bone callus index. Follow up visit was on 30th day and 45th day. Results: Study showed that both Lakshagrishtiksheeradi churna and Calcium + Vit D3 produced improvement in most of the variables and were comparable. However, marked improvements were seen in various variables like Pain, Tenderness, Swelling and Bone callus Index. Conclusion: Clinical efficacy showed that Lakshagrishtiksheeradi churna is safe, effective oral medication in the management of Avrana Kanda Bhagna (Closed Fractures of long bones)
Pharmacognostical and Pharmaceutical Exploration of the traditional medicine Ipomoea carnea Jacq.
Background: Ipomoea carnea Jacq is an ethnopharmacological drug and its leaves, roots and latex are used for various indications by traditional healers. But seeds are not used in the treatment as they are more toxic. As the herbal medicines are becoming endangered, ethnopharmacological drug can be used efficiently as they are available abundantly. But the toxicity should be reduced for safer use in the treatment. Aim: Seeds of Ipomoea carnea Jacq are studied in the present study to observe the macroscopic, microscopic, physicochemical and phytochemical changes in seeds after detoxification in different media. Methods and Materials: Detoxification method described in Ayurveda was used. Ipomoea carnea seeds were subjected to boiling for three hours with Cow’s milk. The same procedure was followed for another sample separately with Cow urine, sour gruel, Triphala (Emblica officinalis, Terminalia chebula and Terminalia bellirica) decoction and Distilled water as media. One raw sample was kept for comparison. The transverse section of the raw seed was studied. Microscopy of powder, physicochemical and phytochemical analysis of all the six samples was conducted and the observations were compared among all the samples. Results: The toxic principle Swainsonine was estimated as 3% in all the samples at retention time 3 minutes. The numbers of peaks were reduced in all the treated samples except DWSIC in comparison with raw sample and 2-4 peaks are observed at retention time 1-3 minutes in all treated samples. A new phytoamine having concentration 12% was detected at retention time 17 minutes in all (crude and purified) samples. Conclusion: The morpho-anatomical characteristics of the seed remain same even after being treated with different liquid media. The changes observed in HPLC may be due to antagonist and antidotal action of media used for detoxification.
Hepatoprotective action of some Ayurvedic drugs: A review
Yakrut is the Ayurvedic name for liver. It is involved in several physiological processes in the body, including metabolic activities, secretory, retention, purification, and elimination of foreign and endogenous materials. As a result, any impairment or degradation of its functionality leads to a wide range of liver problems. The principal hepatic illnesses that cause a high fatality rate include hepatotoxicity, jaundice, and hepatitis. Liver problems are still a growing health problem around the world. The treatment of liver problems using traditional or synthetic medications is ineffective and can have major negative impact.Ayurvedic herbal medicines, on the other hand, have a variety of possible benefits in liver diseases, despite the absence of a proven hepatoprotective medication in modern medicine. A variety of hepatoprotective herbs have been identified. In this review paper, we have attempted to collect and consolidate information on hepatoprotective herbs that will be useful in the Indian medical system.

A Survey of Ethnomedicinal Plants used for Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) and Kidney Stone in the Nalbari, Sonitpur and Tinsukia Districts of Assam, India
Natural products derived from plants have essential biological parts in contradiction of many pathogenic organisms and are considered a principal source of modern synthetic drugs. A thorough field survey of ethnomedicinal plants was conducted between the months of July, 2022 to December, 2022 in three districts of Assam, namely Nalbari, Sonitpur and Tinsukia. Indigenous knowledge of the traditional medicines used for Urinary Tract Infection (UTI), Urinary Tract stones or kidney stones were gathered based on personal interviews and questionnaires. Medicinal plants with their family, local names, parts used and target diseases were documented. A total of 51 species were documented; of which, amaranthaceae family showed the highest number of species (6), followed by malvaceae (4), fabaceae (3), euphorbiaceae (3), asteraceae (3) etc. This survey revealed several effective medicinal plants that have significant pharmacogenetic properties, especially for UTI and kidney diseases.
Anti-hypertensive effect of Siddha formulation Imbural Vadagam against Human angiotensin converting enzyme using In-Silico model
Background: Siddha Medicine is emerging as the treatment of choice for various diseases. Hypertension is one among the comorbidities which plays a major role leading to stroke, cardiovascular diseases and renal failure. Objective: To perform the In Silico computational studies of phytocomponents of Imbural vadagam and to evaluate its anti-hypertensive potential. Methods: Auto dock program was used for the molecular docking studies against Angiotensin Converting Enzyme(ACE). Results: Asperulosidic acid, 6α-Hydroxygeniposide, Piperic acid, Piperine, Apigenin, Orientin and Vitexin that exist in the siddha drug Imbural vadagam exhibit remarkable binding against the target Angiotensin converting enzyme. Conclusion: It can be that these phytocomponents exhibit remarkable antihypertensive activity.
Gastro protective property of Amlapittagna syrup
One of the lifestyle disorders that impacts 10% of the global population is gastric ulcer. H pylori infection, use of anti-inflammatory medications, cigarette smoking, chronic alcohol use, stress, and altered prostaglandin synthesis and E metabolism are the primary causes. Gastric ulcer signs are comparable to those of amlapitta (gastritis). Ayurvedic classics describe a variety of formulations, including churna (powder), kwatha(decoction), asavarishta (fermentation preparations), rasayoga (mineral preparations), and syrup, for the treatment of amlapitta. It is stated that amlapittaghna arka (distillate) can be used to treat amlapitta. Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), nimba (Azadiracta indica) and patola (Trichosanthus dioca) are the components of the amlapittaghna arka. Patients dislike the tikta rasa (bitter taste)of the medications on the above list. Syrup is the dosage form that is most commonly used across all patient age categories. Arka has been altered to take the form of syrup to increase the product\u27s palatability and shelf life. Evaluation of seasonal variation in Veerya of visha dravya Kuchala
Introduction - Medicinal plants, as well as poisonous plants, have different alkaloid compositions in every season. According to the traditional texts of Ayurveda, Visha Dravya have greater potency in Varsha Ritu, which reduces due to Agasti rising in Sharad Ritu. Objective - To evaluate the potency of Visha in Varsha and Sharad Ritu through estimation of the concentration of Strychnine in Strychnos nux- vomica L. Materials and Methods – Quantitative analysis of Strychnine in Varsha and Sharad Ritu by HPTLC. Results – The concentration of Strychnine was observed higher in Varsha Ritu than in Sharad Ritu. Conclusion – The study confirms that the potency of Visha is greater in Varsha Ritu than in Sharad Ritu
Managing Herpes with Ayurveda Principles: A Case Report
Herpes is generally correlated with Visarpa in Ayurveda, In Modern science Herpes is a viral infection caused due to species of herpesviridae. It is treated with several oral and topical antivirals. These medicines are very expensive and have limited role to cure such type of viral infections; also they do not work upon the complications like post herpes neuralgia. Present case study enlightens about the effective treatment of herpes based upon ayurvedic principles; which not only completely cures the disease but also takes care of complications. Ayurvedic treatment is also cost effective and offers early recovery as well. Present case is treated with some ayurvedic Oral medicines and siravedh (Bloodletting by venepuncture) Patient got complete relief from signs and symptoms in twelve days; also there was no evidence of post herpetic neuralgia or any other complication of herpes. No side effects of treatment were observed in this case.

A randomized single blind controlled clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of Nimba-jambu-vasa kwath yoniprakshalan in the management of Kaphaj yonivyapad w.s.r. To trichomonas vaginitis
Kaphaj yonivyapad is one of twenty Yonivyapadas (gynaecological disorders) which shows the symptoms of Picchila Yonistrava (unctuous discharge) and Yonikandu (itching sensation in vagina), yonigat alpavedana (pain in abdomen), yonigat shitata (coldness per vagina) as described by Acharya Charak. According to modern this condition can be compaired with trichomonas vaginitis i.e., type of vaginal infections. On the topic of kaphaj yonivyapad many researchers have done work by taking different drugs, this study was aimed to evaluate the efficacy of Nimba-Jambu-Adulasa Kwath (decoction) yoniprakshalan (vaginal douche). Study was done after ethical committee clearance on 90 patients of kaphaj yonivyapad in OPD of streerog-prasutitantra department of SST’s Ayurved Medical College, Sangamner. Patients were divided into two groups trial group had given Nimba-Jambu-Adulasa Kwath yoniprakshalan and control group had given Triphala Kwath yoniprakshalan for continues 7 days
Efficacy of Novel Herbal Formulation in Efficacy of Novel Herbal Formulation in Conservative Management of Mutrashmari (Urolithiasis) - A Case Report
Introduction: Mutrashmari is a result of extensive processes that include a series of reactions that lead to the production of any urinary stone, i.e., a result of an unbalance of calculi producers and regulators in the kidney. The urinary calculi need surgical intervention and that may include side effects and recurrence. Aims and Objective: This study is having aim to find out the efficacy of herbal formulation in mutrashmari (urinary Calculi) Case Presentation: The patient of 26 years having Udarashoola (pain in abdomen) with mutrakruchata since 2 months and Saraktamutrata (red color urine) since 15 days. Material and methods: Classical textbooks, articles, online journals were referred. The raw material was taken from Institute level. Observation and Results: Results were obtained by Subjective and Objective Criteria on basis of signs and symptoms of mutrashmari. Discussion: The herbal formulation (Gokshura, Kulathha,Punarnava panchanga, Pashanabhed leaves) a unique combination was selected. This combination has Shoolagna (analgesic), Ashmari nashaka, Mutravardhaka (diuretics). In the case report, an attempt was taken to investigate the combined effects of herbal formulation, dietary modifications, and dietary regimen with regard to removal of urinary stone and prevention from any further complication. Results: This study shows effective result of herbal formulation in 8 mm urinary calculi within 1 month with no recurrence till one year.
