Enhancing student engagement through role-playing: A study on reproductive system education in class IX E at SMP Negeri 5 Pontianak
This study was conducted to determine the improvement in student activity and learning outcomes on the topic of the reproductive system in Class IX E at SMP Negeri 5 Pontianak. The objective of this research is to investigate the enhancement of student engagement and learning outcomes using the role-playing method. This classroom action research was carried out in two cycles. Data were collected through observation and tests. The results indicated an increase in student learning activities from 67.95% in the first cycle to 88.82% in the second cycle, as well as an improvement in learning mastery from 45.94% to 78.37%. Therefore, the role-playing method has proven to be effective in enhancing student activity and learning outcomes
FlowEdu: Aplikasi mobile sebagai media pembelajaran flowchart dengan fitur puzzle drag and drop
Metode Pembelajaran Langsung memiliki beberapa keterbatasan, yang menyebabkan tingkat keberhasilan pembelajaran terus menurun. Penggunaan media pembelajaran di kelas dapat meningkatkan motivasi siswa untuk belajar, sehingga memperbaiki proses belajar mengajar. FlowEdu dikembangkan menggunakan metode R&D dengan model 4D yang disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan mahasiswa. FlowEdu berfokus pada pembelajaran flowchart dan menggunakan puzzle drag-and-drop sebagai fitur utama dalam media pembelajaran. Hasil penilaian oleh ahli media untuk mengetahui kelayakan media pembelajaran mendapatkan nilai perhitungan Likert sebesar 84%, yang masuk dalam kategori “Sangat Layak.” Hasil penilaian oleh ahli materi mendapatkan nilai perhitungan Likert sebesar 80%, yang masuk dalam kategori “Layak.” Uji kelayakan keduanya menggunakan Aiken’s V menunjukkan hasil yang valid. Selanjutnya, uji coba pada 28 responden mahasiswa menggunakan perhitungan SUS (System Usability Scale) menghasilkan skor 82%, yang masuk dalam kategori GOOD dengan Grade Scale C. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran FlowEdu dapat diterima dan layak digunakan untuk meningkatkan keberhasilan pembelajaran
Antifungal activity test of single clove garlic and single clove black garlic (Allium sativum L.) against Trichophyton rubrum
Dermatophytosis is a fungal infection of the skin surface which mostly caused by Trichophyton rubrum in Indonesia. Single clove garlic (Allium sativum) exhibits superior antimicrobial properties compared to conventional garlic. When incubated at a specific temperature and humidity (70°C, 90%), single clove garlic transforms into black garlic, further enhancing its antimicrobial efficacy. This research aims to evaluate the antifungal properties of extracts from both single clove garlic and single clove black garlic against Trichophyton rubrum. The antifungal activity was tested by disc diffusion at concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. No inhibition zones were observed in the group treated with single clove garlic extract at concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%, nor with single clove black garlic extract at a concentration of 25%. However, single clove black garlic extract at concentrations of 50%, 75%, and 100% demonstrated inhibition zones ranging from 16.4 to 21.8 mm, indicating strong to very strong antifungal activity. Single clove garlic exhibited no antifungal activity against Trichophyton rubrum. In contrast, single clove black garlic demonstrated antifungal activity against Trichophyton rubrum at concentrations of 50%, 75%, and 100%, with an effective dose starting at 50%. These findings indicate that black garlic extract may serve as a potential alternative treatment for dermatophyte fungal infections, particularly those caused by Trichophyton rubrum
Analisis Perbandingan Prestasi Belajar Bahasa Inggris Antara Siswa Pria dan Wanita di Kelas 9 SMP
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbedaan prestasi belajar Bahasa Inggris antara siswa pria dan wanita di kelas 9 SMP. Metode yang digunakan adalah uji Mann-Whitney U Test terhadap data nilai ulangan harian siswa. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signifikan dalam prestasi belajar antara kedua kelompok, dengan nilai Mann-Whitney U Statistik sebesar 146.5 (p < 0.05). Siswa wanita memiliki rata-rata nilai yang lebih tinggi (56.25) dibandingkan siswa pria (49.33), meskipun kedua kelompok masih di bawah KKM yang ditetapkan. Simpulan utama dari penelitian ini adalah adanya perbedaan signifikan dalam prestasi belajar Bahasa Inggris antara siswa pria dan wanita di kelas 9 SMP
The Effectiveness of Whispering Games to Teach Speaking
Speaking is one of the language skills related to the role of English as a foreign language in Indonesia. But often uninteresting speaking learning media makes students’ speaking ability low. Therefore, this research was aimed at knowing the effectiveness of Whispering Games to teach speaking at class XI IPA 1 one of private Islamic senior high school in Jombang in the academic year 2023/2024. Nineteen students became the sample of this research. The researchers used a pre-experimental design and a one-group pre-test post-test research design, to analyze the effectiveness of Whispering Game on students’ speaking ability. The result showed that Whispering Game is effective to teach speaking. The result showed that the student's average score was increased from 72.38 to 88.57. The result of a paired-sample T-test with a significant (2-tailed) value of 0.000 indicates that the use of Whispering Game was effective in teaching speaking. Hopefully, the results of this research can be shared as information and knowledge and can be used as a reference for further research
Developing a Bilingual Guidebook for Istana Gebang Blitar
Istana Gebang is a historical house that was once occupied by the family of the first president of the Republic of Indonesia, Bung Karno. Based on the survey, it is known that Istana Gebang does not provide a guidebook and some visitors have complained about the lack of information. Therefore, this research aims to develop a bilingual guidebook for Istana Gebang Blitar. This research is Design and Development Research which used the ADDIE development model. The research data collections methods are observation, interviews, and survey. The final result is the “Bilingual Guidebook of Istana Gebang Blitar” that consists of a cover, visitor regulations, table of contents, history of Istana Gebang, history of Bung Karno, descriptions of each collection, and contact information accompanied by images. The Bilingual Guidebook of Istana Gebang Blitar has been successfully developed. The researcher suggests that this bilingual guidebook be used as effectively as possible
Turning Knowledge into Impact : How English Education Alumni Excel in Education? (An Application of Qualitative Personal Narratives Method)
This research explores the inspiring stories of English education program alumni who have pursued careers in education. It aims to identify the factors that motivated these individuals to choose a career in education and the impact of their English education on their professional development. This study uses a qualitative research design, which involves in-depth interviews with one of the alumni of University in Pontianak English education program who is currently working in the education sector. Through their personal narratives, the research will explore their career journeys, challenges faced, and key factors that contributed to their success. The research aims to provide inspiration for students and educators, as well as providing valuable insights for the curriculum development of English education programs. The research findings show that participants were influenced by their passion for teaching and the desire to do good in students' lives. They also emphasized the importance of their English education in developing communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The study concluded that the inspiring stories of English education program alumni who made a career in education can serve as a valuable resource for current students and future educators. The research findings suggest that English education can play an important role in shaping career choices and professional development, especially in the field of education
Enhancing learning outcomes through problem-based learning in plant reproduction topics
This study aims to enhance students' learning outcomes on the topic of plant reproduction in 9th-grade classes through the application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. This study used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) methodology with two learning cycles to improve student learning outcomes on the topic of plant reproduction in 9th grade. In the first cycle, the average learning outcome score was 72, which is below the minimum mastery criterion (<75). Observations were made by an observer regarding the students' learning activities and the teaching process conducted by the teacher during the first cycle. These observations served as a reference for the subsequent learning cycle. In the second cycle, there was an improvement in learning outcomes, with an average score of 85, indicating that students, on average, had achieved the minimum mastery criterion (minimum mastery score 75). The classroom action research involved four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The results show that the gradual application of the PBL model progressively improved students' learning outcomes on the topic of plant reproduction
Aktivitas antijamur isolat bakteri endofit tanaman kunyit (Curcuma longa L.) terhadap penghambatan pertumbuhan Candida albicans
Candidiasis adalah infeksi kulit yang disebabkan oleh jamur, terutama spesies Candida albicans. Sebagian besar kasus candidiasis saat ini menunjukkan resistensi terhadap obat antijamur yang ada, sehingga diperlukan pencarian senyawa metabolit baru sebagai alternatif antijamur. Bakteri endofit, mikroorganisme yang hidup di dalam jaringan tumbuhan tanpa menyebabkan kerusakan, diketahui memiliki potensi untuk menghasilkan senyawa kimia yang berfungsi sebagai antijamur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi dan mengidentifikasi aktivitas antijamur dari mikroorganisme endofit yang diisolasi dari tanaman kunyit (Curcuma longa L.) terhadap C. albicans. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif. Aktivitas antijamur terhadap C. albicans diuji menggunakan metode difusi cakram. Dari 17 isolat endofit yang diuji, 8 isolat menunjukkan aktivitas penghambatan dengan zona hambat berkisar antara 7,16 hingga 10,6 mm. Isolat yang paling potensial, yakni isolat M2, diidentifikasi memiliki kesamaan genus dengan Pseudomonas. Analisis senyawa metabolit sekunder pada isolat M2 mengungkapkan keberadaan saponin, terpenoid, dan flavonoid sebagai senyawa antijamur. Dengan demikian, isolat endofit dari tanaman kunyit terbukti memiliki potensi untuk menghambat pertumbuhan C. albicans, sehingga tanaman kunyit dapat menjadi pilihan alternatif pengobatan secara tradisional dan menjadi salah satu sumber potensial dalam perkembangan di bidang farmasi
Identifikasi etnosains sapi sonok madura sebagai sumber pembelajaran ipa di smp
Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi unsur etnosains yang terdapat pada tradisi Sapi Sonok Madura yang dapat dijadikan sebagai sumber belajar IPA di tingkat SMP. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan September 2024 di Dusun Tobalang 2, Desa Waru Barat, Kecamatan Waru, Kabupaten Pamekasan. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif induktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) hasil kajian etnosains dapat dilihat pada perbedaan Sapi Sonok dengan sapi pada umumnya, perawatan, dan karakteristik agar dapat mengikuti kontes; dan 2) hasil kajian etnosains terhubung dan berkaitan erat dengan materi konsep IPA SMP. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Sapi Sonok Madura dapat digunakan sebagai salah satu sumber pembelajaran yang relevan dalam mata pelajaran IPA di tingkat SMP
