Development of Herbaceous Plant's Pocket Book as Biology Learning Media to Improve Learning Outcomes in Plant Anatomy and Morphology Courses
Trinil Sky Root is a tour that has various types of plants, one of which is herbaceous plants. Based on the surey results, it was shown that all students did not have specific information that discussed the morphology of herbaceous plants so that students had difficulties in learning it. Whereas one of the factors supporting the success of the learning process is the use of learning media. Learning media is very important in supporting learning activities so that it is expected to realize a good teaching and learning process and have a positive impact on learning outcomes. The purpose of this study was to develop a biology learning media in the form of a pocket book of herbaceous plants and to find out its validity. This type of research is R&D with the ADDIE development model. The trial subjects of this research were biology students at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. The results of the analysis of the need for learning media for plant morphology pocket books, it can be seen that almost all Biology Tadris students already knew about herbaceous plants. However, some respondents have not been able to correctly name the characteristics of herbaceous plants, so there was need for learning resources that can facilitate achieving learning outcomes. The results of material expert validation were obtained at 96.4% (very valid) and media experts obtained a percentage of 88% (very valid). At the respondent's trial stage, the average post-test score was greater than the pre-test score, respectively 88.4 and 68.4. Then, the average readability test results of respondents got an average percentage of 93.9% (very valid). Thus, the herbal plant pocket book learning media at Trinil Sky Root Tourism is very suitable to be used as an alternative to support learning activities
Identification of Factors Causing Learning Difficulties In The 11th Grade Students on Cell Material and Substance Transport
Learning difficulties are the condition of learners who are not studying properly and are unable to obtain the predetermined KKM scores. Learners are experiencing learning difficulties influenced by several factors. Factors that affect learning difficulties learners are internal factors and external factors. Learning difficulties are often found in learners in following the learning process. Cell and substance transport is one of the high school class XI materials in biology lessons. In replication of cell material and transport of class XI MIA substances in SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Alung shows value below KKM. So, based on the understanding of learning difficulties above means the students of class XI MIA in SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Alung experiencing learning difficulties because they are unable to meet the limits of KKM which has been determined. Therefore, the researcher wanted to identify the difficulties of studying students in grade XI SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Alung on cell material and substance transport.The type of this research is descriptive research. The instruments used in this study are questionnaires and questions. Questionnaire given in the form of statements and soaalnya in the form of multiple choice. The population of this study is the students of class XI MIA SMA Negeri 1 Lubuk Alung consisting of 7 classes with the number 231 people. The sample of this study was 70 people taken 10 people per class. Based on the data analysis can be seen the absence of the value of learners are complete after being given a matter of understanding the concept of the concept of cell material and substance transport. For the results of questionnaires data obtained the percentage of factors that cause the learning difficulties of the most high learners are themselves by 54.62%, the next school by 50.6%, the community 39.63% and the last family 30.94%
Analysis Question of Higher Order Thinking Skills in Class X Biology Textbooks
Some of the questions in the textbooks are in accordance with the development of science and the applicable curriculum. However, it is undeniable that quite a lot of textbooks are not suitable and have not shown HOTS-type questions. Moreover, the analysis of questions in biology textbooks based on the type of HOTS is very rarely carried out. To review this, the analysis of questions in textbooks is needed as evaluation material in improving the quality of books used in learning. This study aims toanalyze the content of the Higher Order Thinking Skill category in the Class X Biology textbook which is used by Sri Langkat Private High School in learning and teacher response Biology is related to the problem in the book. This research uses a qualitative descriptive type of research. The instruments used are document analysis sheets with check list marks and teacher response interview instrument sheets. The guidelines used in the analysis of the questions are indicators of the Higher Order Thinking Skill category. The results of the study stated that there were as many as 170 questions classified as HOTS type questions with the percentage of the distribution of analyzing questions (C4) 87.6%, evaluating questions (C5) 9.4%, questions creating 2.9%. The teacher's response stated that the question writing bah wa was in accordance with the indicators contained in the curriculum and after validating the results of the question analysis, the teacher specifically knew the content of the percentage of HOTS question types in the Biology textbook used in learning
The Implementation of SSCS (Search, Solve, Create, Share) Learning Model in training Students' Critical Thinking Skills
21st century learning emphasizes students' competence in finding out from a variety of sources, formulating problems, thinking analytically, working together, and collaborating on problem solving. Critical thinking skills are one of the skills that need to be developed in the 21st century. These skills can be trained in the learning process through one of the learning models, namely SSCS (Search, Solve, Create, Share) learning model. SSCS is one of the learning models that received a Grant to be developed and applied to mathematics and science subjects. This study aims to explain the implementation of SSCS learning model in training students' critical thinking skills. This research procedure uses library research method by collecting data in the form of articles published in various scientific journals and some from book sources. The result of the literature study about using the SSCS learning model that can have a positive impact for students that are more effective learning and training critical thinking skills for students
Colored Biological Comic with Pictorial Mind Map on Material Human Circulation System to Increase Reading Interest of Junior High School Student
The problem of this research is less interest of reading about human circulation system in Junior High School. Based on the observation, students has problem to understand tough topic. The purpose of this research is how to develop a colored biological comic with pictorial mind map and increase learning motivation about human circulation system for Junior High School. This research has been developed by using 3 stages of 4D models, that is define stage by defining the terms of learning using the curriculum, design stage by designing prototype of biological comic which designed with hybrid method using manual tools and Adobe Photoshop CS6, and develop stage that aims to produce a valid and practical biological comic with validity test by 3 validators and practicality test by 1 biology teacher and 25 student in VIII.A of Pembangunan Junior High School. The result of this research obtained by validity and practicality test to the comic. The average of validity value is 92.88% with very valid criteria. The average of practicality test by teacher is 95.14% with very practical criteria and by students is 88.40% with practical criteria. This research shows this biological comic result is categorized by very valid and practical to use by teachers and students in teaching and learning
Student Perceptions to Implementation Independent Practicum based of Materials in The Environment
COVID-19 pandemic had a major impact on the implementation of the teaching process. Lectures suddenly switched from face-to-face to online, including practical courses. This system change certainly has its own impression for students, especially for those who program practicum courses. Research was conducted with quantitative approach through questionnaire and qualitative one through interviews with descriptive analysis technique. The purpose of this study was to describe students' perceptions of implementation material-based independent practicum in surrounding environment. The results showed that aspect of ease independent practicum 22.92% of students had perception of strongly agreeing, 43.75% agreeing, 33.32% disagreeing, and 0% strongly disagreeing. Aspect of ease understanding concept perception who strongly agree as much as 18.33%, agree with the presentation 74.17%, 7.5% disagree, and strongly disagree with percentage of 0%. Finally, on aspect of satisfaction in practicum, it was stated that 14.58% of students strongly agreed, agreed 63.19 while those who disagreed were 22.22% and strongly disagreed 0%. Students have perception that practicum is carried out independently in their respective residences can still run smoothly. This is because materials used are relatively easy to find in the surrounding environment. Online guidance provided also makes it easier to ask questions. Literature provided during independent practicum process also makes it easier to do practicum and understand procedure. In conclusion, average dominant student answers agree that independent practicum from home based materials in surrounding environment is relatively easy to do, it is also easy to understand concept and students are satisfied in implementation of independent practicum
Analyzed Question Quality of School Examinations Class IX Science Subjects
The quality of the items on the instrument affects the results of the class IX students' school exams. As an evaluator, the teacher has not conducted an analysis of the school exam questions. Therefore, it is not known the quality of the items and the accuracy of the students' test results. This is evidenced by the low results of school exams in the last three years. The Circular of the Minister of Education and Culture regarding the elimination of the National Examination, requires teachers in each Education Unit to make quality questions. Quality questions were identified by analyzing the items. This study aims to analyze the quality of the school exam items given to class IX SMP students. The quality of the items analyzed was based on the aspects of validity, reliability, level of difficulty, distinguishing power and quality of distractors. This type of research is a descriptive study. The population is all answer sheets of students who take the Science Subject School Examination of SMP Negeri 1 Lengayang in the academic year 2020/2021, totaling 232 copies. Samples were taken by simple random sampling technique and obtained 100 copies. The type of data is secondary data and data collection using the documentation method. Quantitative data analysis used Anates version 4.0.9. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that the validity of the items was low with an xy correlation of 0.48, high reliability with a value of 0.65, good distinguishing power with good criteria of 36.7%, moderate difficulty level with moderate criteria 66.7%, and the quality of the distractor is not good with less good criteria 30.7%. In conclusion, the quality of the grade IX school examination items in science subjects at SMP Negeri 1 Lengayang in the academic year 2020/2021 is not yet a good criterion
Offline versus Online Learning
While there have been numerous studies focusing on finding students' perception on online learning, the studies regarding the perception on both online and offline learning have generally been overlooked. This study, therefore, attempted to fill this void. The main objective is to find out whether offline learning is more preferable than online learning. This descriptive research employed questionnaire with Likert scale through online google forms in collecting the data. 36 students from Biology Department, Universitas Negeri Padang participated in this research. The respondents were asked some questions regarding learning implementation, lecturer's competency and facilities to know their perception. The research found that the students generally showed more positive attitude towards offline learning which can be perceived from the comparison of percentagesin each question. The findings then suggest that students preferred offline learning to online learning and hence, offline learning is more recommended to be conducted
Development of Learners Worksheet Based Contextual Approach about Organizational System of Life Material for Classroom Learners VII SMP/MTs
The life organization system is one of the learning materials for class VII SMP/MTS students. When making observations with the questionnaire method, it appears that students do not understand the material, this is because students are not invited to associate learning material with students' daily contexts. The contextual approach can be integrated in the form of a Student Worksheet (LKPD). The purpose of developing LKPD based on a contextual approach is expected to make it easier for students to understand the learning material. This type of research is development research using 4-D model with three stages, namely define, design and develop. The define phase is the stage of establishing and defining learning conditions. The design phase is the stage of preparing the LKPD prototype to be developed. The develop stage is the stage of producing LKPD based on a contextual approach and validity testing is done by four validators and practicality tests by two teachers and 30 students of SMP N 13 Padang. The average value of the validity of the Contextual Based LKPD is 82% with valid criteria. The average value of the practice by teacher is 83% with practical criteria. The average value of the practice carried out by students is 88% with practical criteria. This it was concluded that LKPD based on the contextual approach developed had valid and practical criteria
Validity Of the Human Circulatory System Booklets as an Independent Teaching Material for Natural Science in Class VIII Junior High School
Education important element develop knowledge make shape one’s character. Quality of education can be improved by paying attention to the curriculum and learning media used. 2013 curriculum based science textbooks and student worksheets are a medium used by student to study natural science in class VIII SMPN 11 Padang. The availability of learning resources at school is still lacking, so that students are less motivated in learning science, in addition to the lack of availability of learning resources, other factors that cause low motivation of students because textbooks are used thickly and are difficult to carry anywhere. Based on the weaknesses that were found, the booklet was developed as an independent learning resources of natural science in class VIII junior high school. Booklet media development is made as attractive as possible, so that students are motivated to learn science.
This development research uses a Plomp development model consisting of (preliminary research), (development and prototyping phase), and assessment phase (assessment phase). Data analysis is qualitative and quantitative. Booklet development stage is validated by 2 validators. At the assessment stage uses one to one evaluation by 3 student in class VIII of the SMPN 11 Padang which has high, medium, and low academic abilities.
Validity test result obtained of 87,62% with very valid criteria and results of one to one evaluation showed that the developed booklet had an attractive appearance and language that was easy to understand, sothat students were interested in using booklets in the learning process. Based on this, it can be concluded that the human circulatory system booklet as an independent teaching material of natural science developed is valid and suitable for use in the learning process
