Media Coverage of Ferguson, Missouri: A Normative Approach
No full textThis study seeks to examine media coverage of the Ferguson, Missouri racial tensions and police action following the grand jury decision, with a focus on stories which include religious leaders, religious comments, or those that take place in community churches or religious centers. Through a mixed-methods approach of critical discourse analysis and a normative analysis of the coverage, the research attempts to bring understanding of the role religion plays within the media, and provide suggestions as to how the media can cover religion more effectively not only during times of unrest, but on a more regular basis
Exploring to Bangkok Chaay Rak Chaay (Gay Men) Accessing Health Services in Thailand
Get PDFHealth services are central to the provision of services for those affected by HIV including, prevention, health promotion and treatment. Access to health services for gay men is significant in increasing their knowledge associated with issues relevant to HIV so that they can better protect and care for themselves. Aim: This ethnographic study sought to clarify and further understand the experience of Bangkok’s gay men and their access to health services relevant to HIV issues. Methods: The data collection was conducted between May and August, 2014. 45 to 60 minutes Face to face interview and digital audio recording were utilised for the data collection processes. Semi structured in-depth interviews undertaken at the Thai Red Cross Research Centre, Bangkok. All interview transcripts were translated from Thai to English. The NVivo program version 10 was utilised to organise the data coding and theming. Result: This study identified that there are few specific clinics for gay men with HIV in Thailand. Additionally, information associated with HIV and other related concerns are required to be more accurate and specific to men living with HIV. Many chaay rak chaay face difficulties accessing services, including a lack of information, privacy concerns and inadequate provision of services. Conclusion: the specific clinic and information relevant HIV issues need to be more readily available and widely circulated. Moreover, health care services should be aware of the privacy issues and personal confidentially issues. Such approaches toward providing services for gay me in Bangkok may assist in eliminating some of the many barriers faced by gay men when accessing health services in the city

A custom framework is developed to handle theTelco specific (NFV) capabilities on top of thetraditional containers. This novel approach will helptelcos to provision tons of containers in a span of shortduration adhering to the QoS Requirements of theindustry
Designing Digital Games for Reflecting the Performance of Dynamic Balance

However, how to design the balance games, or how the mechanics of games affect the performance of dynamic balance are still lack of research reports. This study developed a serial of game prototypes to explore the design principles of balance games. The experimental results show that when a balance game is designed, if the moving of object under control is more predictable, the moving of player's weight center is more regular, and the game has suitable challenge designed, the player’s ability of dynamic balance can be more correlated to the game scores

Get PDFObjective: To evaluate the correlation of raised CRP levels in premenopausal and postmenopausal females with hypothyroidism and to assess the future risk of adverse coronary events amongst them. Methodology: This was a prospective,observational,cross-sectional,analytical study,conducted in department of cardiology and medicine,Gandhi medical college,Hamidia hospital,Bhopal from October 2013 to October 2014.Patients having hypothyroidism were subjected to this study.Age matched controls were selected randomly.Purpose of this study was explained and informed consent was obtained. Results: Percentage of raised CRP levels in hypothyroid premenopausal females was 13.3% and in hypothyroid postmenopausal females was 24.4%.CRP levels were raised only in 3.3% of premenopausal control group and in 10% of postmenopausal control group. Conclusion: This study showed that there is strong association of raised CRP levels with hypothyroidism in both premenopausal and postmenopausal females

No full textSolid solutions CuIn(1-x)GaxS2 (x ≤ 0.3)were synthesized, with a yield of 70%, by reaction in molten KSCN at 400°C for 24h of CuCl2, InCl3 and GaCl3 with a ratio KSCN/Cu=15. The homogeneous solid solutions obtained are formed of nano-sized grains (70–100nm), with a specific surface area of 6.5 m2/g and a band gap between 1.5 and 1.8 eV
A Comparative Study on Projecting Verbs in News and Novels from Interpersonal View
Get PDFAbstract: Projection is a type of language phenomenon that does not function as a direct representation of non-linguistic experience but as representation of a linguistic representation. Projection consists of projecting source, projecting words, and the projected clause and the projecting words include projecting verbs, projecting nouns, projecting prepositions and projecting adjuncts, among which projecting verbs are used the most frequently. According to Chinese scholar Zenglei, we can not only judge whether the projection is about mental process or is about verbal process but also know author’s attitude or interpersonal meaning conveyed by the author from projecting verbs. Therefore, this study investigates on projecting verbs from interpersonal perspective of systematic-functional grammar and makes a comparative study of them between news discourse and short novels in order to find out whether different genre will influence the application of projection verbs and to offer reasons for it

Improving Personal Sales Performance by Considering Customer Personality Traits

Therefore, the aim of this article is to find outhow to improve personal sales performance by consideringcustomer personality traits. This was examined from theperspective of both salespeople (n=5) and customers (n=955). Theresults showed that salespeople use adaptive techniquesrandomly and often subconsciously. Nevertheless, they can readthe level of customer extraversion and conscientiousness quitewell and adapt their sales approach accordingly. However,coping with customer agreeableness, neuroticism and openness toexperiences is much more complicated, and some customerbehaviors are misread by salespeople. Therefore, some ideas onhow to incorporate verbal and non-verbal communicationtechniques are proposed to improve sales performance

Our research derives from thispaper with the addition of quantifiable measures of financialdevelopment using threshold estimations. We further examinethreshold values using an instrumental variable estimation toaccount for endogeneity bias. The results from our cross-countryanalyses allow us to make comparisons between differentcountries regarding the necessary measure of financialdevelopment that is needed for growth in the poorest sectors ofeach economy
