The Impact of COVID-19 on Informal Employment and the Measures Taken by the Chinese Government: The Analysis of Street Vending Economy in Nanjing
No full textTo revitalize Chinese economic activities under the influence of the pandemic, the Chinese government adjusts the policies and attitudes about street vending. Taking Nanjing as a typical example of a city of street vending, the paper expounds in-depth on the positive impact of street vending on the economy after the pandemic. Meantime, it also describes the new management policies of street vending made by the Nanjing government to develop with a good trend. In addition, the paper directly reflects Nanjing people’s views on street vending and the resulting behavior through professional data. Finally, through the analysis of the advantages of street vending, it proves that the support from street vending in the Chinese economy is non-negligible after the pandemic
A Study on Brand Personality of Coastal Tourism Destinations: Text Mining Approach
No full textAs the core element of the brand, brand personality is closely related to the personality of tourists. Unique and distinctive brand personality has become an important means for tourism destinations to enhance their core competitiveness. Through text analysis, the content of the online review content of three coastal tourist destinations in Yalong Bay, Silver Beach, and Gulangyu Islet were analyzed. The brand personality of coastal tourist destinations was identified from the perspective of tourist perception, and the selected 3 coastal tourist destinations were identified by correspondence analysis. Comparative analysis on a case-by-case basis.The research results show that the brand personality of coastal tourism destinations perceived by tourists is mainly concentrated in the two dimensions of “elegance” and “benevolence”, but different coastal tourism destinations have their own distinct and unique brand personalities. On this basis, directional suggestions for the development of brand personality in coastal tourism destinations are given
A Study on Influencing Factors of Happiness of Urban Low-income Groups
No full textWith the completion of the strategic vision of building a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way in 2020, China’s economic development has entered a new normal. The concept of innovative, coordinated, green, open and shared development will lead China’s economic progress and development. However, the development of urban and rural areas and regions in China is still not coordinated, and the sudden COVID-19 outbreak has caused a serious impact on urban low-income groups. Due to the characteristics of poor employment stability, low income and single source, as well as greater family pressure of urban low-income groups, the author focuses on the influencing factors of their feelings of happiness. This paper assumes that the satisfaction degree of residents’ needs is positively correlated with residents’ feelings of happiness. Based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory, this paper analyzes the factors that may affect the happiness of urban low-income groups in five levels, and explores the special needs and difficulties of urban low-income groups in the context of the epidemic. Comparative Analysis of Curing Methods: Natural and Activated Lateritic Concrete
No full textThis work was on non-activated and activated lateritic soil used in proportions of 0 % to 30 %, to replace fine sand by wt. %, in the production of lateritic concrete. A mix of 1: 2: 4 was used, and the cube samples were cured in four (4) curing media of water, sand, polythene, and sawdust. The aim was to evaluate the effects of these curing methods on the mechanical strengths, and other properties of lateritic concrete. The sensitivity of the generated data was characterized statistically and developing linear regression models for predictions. For the Non-Activated Laterite soil (NALS, control mix (0 %)), the design strength of 20 MPa was achieved by all the curing methods (standard and non-standard). However, for other replacement levels, water curing was adequate for 10 % and 30 %, sand at 10 %, and sawdust for 20 % and 30 %, respectively. On the other hand, for the Activated Laterite soil (ALS), the 20 MPa design strength was met only at 0 % replacement for all curing methods. Sawdust medium at 10 % also satisfied the 20 MPa strength
Potentials of Balanite Endocarp Pod Ash as a Cement Replacement Material
No full textThe exponential growth of agricultural wastes such as Balanite seed pod has resulted in waste management issues and finding alternatives through waste recycling is an interesting area of research. Balanite seed pods were collected in Yobe state, washed, dried, crushed. Balanite endocarp pod ash (BEPA) was calcined at 600 °C for 3 hours in a muffle furnace and the biomass was characterized with X-ray fluorescence spectrometer to determine its chemical composition. The analysis showed that the ash composed of silica, alumina and ferric oxide (74.24 wt.%) indicated a strong pozzolan based on American Standard. The BEPA possessed a high loss on ignition of 8.24 wt.% owing to the presence of unburnt carbon in the ash. The ash obtained was sieved with 75 µm sieve and cement was replaced with ash between 2.5 wt.% ~ 12.5 wt.% at interval of 2.5 wt.% to assess its impact on cement properties such as setting time, consistence, mortar strength and water absorption. Results showed that as percentage replacement increases, the water absorption increased while the mortar strength diminished whereas as the curing days progressed its strength improved despite clinker diminution due to cement hydration. 60 days strength for below 10 wt.% BEPA cement blend produced enhanced strength compared with control which is evidence of slow pozzolanic reactions. The optimum percentage replacement with BEPA was obtained at 7.5 wt.% replacement beyond which significantly affected the cement properties especially its strength. It could be agreed that BEPA has potentials to be considered and employed as a cement replacement material
Spatial Investigation of Nilüfer Stream Arsenic Pollution in Previous and Post COVID-19 Pandemic and Evaluation of Health Risks for Adult People
No full textThis study was carried out in Nilüfer Stream in Bursa City, where intensiveindustrial, agricultural and mining activities are existed. The temporal andspatial variation of arsenic was evaluated by examining its concentrationsbetween March 2015 and December 2021. Values between March 2015and December 2019 were evaluated as pre-pandemic, and values betweenMarch 2020 and December 2021 were evaluated as post-pandemic. Theresults were compared with national and international standards and thechronic and cancer risks were calculated for adults. When the 7-yeargeneral averages were examined, it was seen that the highest concentrationwas 0.0256 mg/L at the 8th Station, and the lowest concentration was0.0182 mg/L at the 1st Station. The reason why the highest value is atthe 8th station was that the wastewater of Nilüfer and Bursa OrganizedIndustrial Zones was discharged to Bursa West Wastewater TreatmentPlant before this station. After the pandemic the raises in concentrationswere observed at all stations, except for the 3rd Station. This shows thatthe pollution load had increased in general during the pandemic. However,it was estimated that there was a decrease in the pollution load of theindustrial wastewater coming to the 3rd Station, which was located afterthe Eastern Wastewater Treatment Plant of the City. It was observed thatall stations examined were higher than drinking water standards and lowerthan irrigation water standards according to WHO and Turkish NationalStandards. All measuring stations were greater than 1 of the hazardquotient (HQ) values. In terms of human consumption risk, all stations hada chronic and carcinogenic risk according to the values before and afterthe pandemic. After the pandemic conditions, the HQ order of the stationswas 8>10>7>9>2>6>4>1>3. In general, post-pandemic HQ values hadgenerally increased and the risk of cancer had increased

Mechanical, Electrical and Thermal Properties of Nylon-66/Flyash Composites: Effect of Flyash
No full textIn the current study, the effect of flyash (FA) on the physic-mechanical, electrical, thermal and morphological behavior of nylon-66 (PA) was investigated. PA/FA composites were prepared by melt mixing via twin screw extruder, with varying weight percent (5 wt %, 10 wt %, 15 wt % and 20 wt %) of flyash. The results of composites were optimized and compared with virgin nylon-66. Mechanical and electrical properties of composites improved up to 10 wt% of FA loading without compromising the properties. The flyash filled nylon-66 composites showed a low abrasive wear rate. Increase the heat distortion temperature of composites with an increase in weight percent of flyash while opposing the melt flow rate. Flyash filler enhances the stiffness of plastics but significantly reduces the impact properties. Dispersion of flyash was examined by impact fracture surface of composites using a scanning electron microscope

No full textThis thesis is to explore Anzaldua’s autobiographical book Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza, to discuss how multicultural environment influencedGloria, why she considers herself as a border person, a person with multiple identities, to analyze how she struggles in a land where there is uniformity between sexual oppression and racial oppression, refusing to be reduced to the “other”. I will briefly introduce Anzaldua’s early experience as well as her identity as a colored lesbian. Her life is a crossover where gender, racial, sexuality, class problem connect with each other. In the first part, I will discuss about Anzaldua’s idea of taking Ideology as culture tyranny which creates visible and invisible pressure from outside that keeps shaping Chicano’s sense of self, objectifying the colored people. In the second part, I will analyze the oppression that Chicano women suffer from the male dominated white society, and how the ideological oppression shapes their identity. In the third part, I will explore Anzaldua’s radical theory --“new Mestiza consciousness”
