    Integrating Technology-Enhanced Language Learning (TELL) into English Language Teaching (ELT) at STAIN Mandailing Natal

    This study explores the integration of Technology-Enhanced Language Learning (TELL) and its impact on English Language Teaching (ELT). The research addresses the issue of how technology influences students' learning experiences in ELT. The study aims to examine students' perspectives on the use of digital tools in language learning and their effectiveness in enhancing the learning process. A case study approach was employed, with data collected through the interactive platform Mentimeter. Fourteen students from the Tadris Bahasa Inggris Study Program at STAIN Mandailing Natal participated by providing their opinions on the integration of technology in ELT during a presentation session. The analysis reveals that the majority of respondents expressed positive perceptions of technology use in ELT. Students highlighted those various digital tools introduce a new dimension to learning, making the process more engaging and accessible. Key benefits identified include easier access to resources, increased interactivity, and greater flexibility in learning. These findings emphasize the significance of incorporating digital tools into language instruction to enhance the overall learning experience

    Artificial Intelligence in Academic Environments: Reducing or Increasing Foreign Language Anxiety?

    The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools into language learning and teaching is rapidly advancing in academic environments. Previous research has demonstrated the potential of AI tools to enhance learners’ motivation, engagement, and attitudes while improving language skills such as speaking, writing, and reading. However, systematic reviews focusing on the role of AI technologies in managing foreign language anxiety (FLA) remain limited. This study systematically reviews the effects of AI tools on different types of FLA, including writing anxiety, reading anxiety, speaking anxiety, and general communication anxiety, in academic environments. Peer-reviewed articles were retrieved from the Scopus database and screened for relevance based on titles, abstracts, and full-text availability. Of the 59 articles identified, 11 studies published between 2022 and 2024 met the inclusion criteria. The findings reveal that AI tools, such as chatbots and automated writing evaluation systems, reduce writing and speaking anxiety by providing personalized feedback and fostering learner autonomy. However, challenges such as over-reliance on AI and limited human interaction may increase anxiety for certain learners. This review highlights gaps in the literature, emphasizing the need for longitudinal studies and hybrid learning models that combine AI technologies with teacher interventions to address learners’ cognitive and affective needs

    The Translation of Idiomatic Expressions: A Case Study of “Ikan-Ikan Yang Terdampar” Translated into “Stranded Fish”

    Idiomatic expressions are an essential aspect of language and often pose significant challenges in translation due to their strong cultural underpinnings. This study examines the translation of idioms in the short story “Ikan-Ikan yang Terdampar”, which has been translated into “Stranded Fish”. A qualitative method is employed, supported by Newmark’s Semantic and Communicative Translation Theory. The analysis reveals instances of translation loss, gain, and skewing, highlighting the complexities involved in translating culturally bound expressions. The findings underscore the importance for translators to consider cultural context in order to retain the idiomatic meaning and avoid misinterpretation or distortion during the translation process

    Pembelajaran matematika yang inovatif diperlukan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep dan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Salah satu pendekatan yang potensial adalah outdoor learning melalui penggunaan Math City Map, yang menyajikan konteks nyata dan menarik dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas Math City Map dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa di salah satu SMP Negeri di Patampanua melalui pendekatan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes dan observasi, dengan teknik purposive sampling yang difokuskan pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa, dari rata-rata 47,3% pada siklus I menjadi 88% pada siklus II, dengan rata-rata keseluruhan sebesar 67,6%. Peningkatan hasil belajar juga terlihat dari 43% pada siklus I menjadi 98% pada siklus II, melampaui target ketuntasan minimal 60%. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa Math City Map dalam konteks pembelajaran luar ruang merupakan metode yang efektif dalam mendukung pengembangan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa. Implikasi dari temuan ini adalah perlunya integrasi media pembelajaran berbasis lingkungan nyata seperti Math City Map dalam kurikulum sebagai upaya konkret untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan dan hasil belajar siswa secara berkelanjuta

    Upaya Meningkatkan Kemampuan Bahasa Anak Melalui Kartu Huruf Di Tk Bahari Kofarkor

    As a means of communication, language is a very important tool in children’s lives. Language is also a tool for conveying thoughts and feelings to other people which also functions to understand other people’s thoughts and feelings. The aim of developing early childhood language skills is so that students are able to communicate verbally with their environment. This is in contrast to the situation at the Bahari Kofarkor Kindergarten, Raja Ampat Regency, where many children are not able to speak the language well and are not able to receive the language well either. For example, children cannot carry out 2-3 commands spoken by the teacher, children cannot tell simple experiences, etc. So this research was done. With the aim of improving children’s language skills through role-playing activities. This research consists of two cycles where the previous activities were carried out. Research (pre cycle) the average language ability of children was only 30.46% or as many as 6 out of 15 children. In cycle I it was 50.46%. Meanwhile in cycle II children’s language skills had increased on average. Average of 70.23%. Thus it can be said that the role of Letter Card activities can improve children’s language skills at the Bahari Kofarkor Kindergarten and parents are expected to provide the right stimulus for each level. Development so that the child’s growth and development can be achieved optimally.Sebagai alat komunikasi, bahasa merupakan sarana yang sangat penting Dalam kehidupan anak. Bahasa juga merupakan alat untuk menyampaikan pikiran Dan perasaan kepada orang lain yang sekaligus berfungsi untuk memahami fikiran Dan perasaan orang lain. Tujuan pengembangan kemampuan berbahasa anak usia Dini adalah agar anak didik mampu berkomunikasi secara lisan dengan Lingkungannya.Berbanding terbalik dengan keadaan di TK Bahari Kofarkor Kabupaten Raja Ampat dimana banyak anak yang tidak mampu berbahasa dengan baik dan Tidak mampu menerima bahasa dengan baik pula. Seperti anak tidak dapat Melakukan 2 – 3 perintah yang di ucapkan guru, anak tidak dapat menceritakan Pengalaman sederhana, dll. Jadi penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk Meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa anak melalui kegiatan bermain peran.Peneltian ini terdiri dari dua siklus dimana pada pelaksanaan kegiatan Sebelum penelitian ( pra siklus ) rata – rata kemampuan berbahasa anak hanya Sebesar 30,46% atau sebanyak 6 dari 15 anak. Pada siklus I sebesar 50,46% Sedangkan pada siklus II kemampuan berbahasa anak telah meningkat rata – rata Sebesar 70,23%. Dengan demikian dapat dikatakan bahwa kegiatan Kartu Huruf peran dapat Meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa anak di TK Bahari Kofarkor.Dan kepada para orang tua diharapkan agar memberikan stimulus Yang tepat untuk setiap timgkat perkembangannya agar tumbuh kembang anak Dapat tercapai dengan maksima

    Fenomena bunuh diri di kalangan mahasiswa telah menjadi isu global yang memerlukan perhatian serius, terutama dari perspektif agama Islam. Artikel ini membahas bunuh diri pada mahasiswa sebagai bentuk penyimpangan terhadap norma agama Islam, yang secara tegas melarang tindakan tersebut. Dalam Islam, kehidupan dianggap sebagai amanah yang harus dijaga, dan bunuh diri dipandang sebagai pelanggaran serius terhadap ajaran agama. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif melalui studi literatur untuk mengeksplorasi faktor-faktor yang mendorong mahasiswa melakukan bunuh diri, dampak yang ditimbulkan, dan upaya pencegahan yang dapat dilakukan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor-faktor seperti tekanan akademis, masalah pribadi, dan ekspektasi sosial dapat mempengaruhi kesehatan mental mahasiswa, yang dalam kasus ekstrim dapat mendorong tindakan bunuh diri. Dampak bunuh diri meliputi efek psikologis dan emosional yang mendalam pada keluarga dan teman, penurunan kinerja akademis, serta gangguan pada kesehatan mental dan fisik. Upaya pencegahan yang efektif meliputi pendidikan agama yang kuat, dukungan sosial dan komunitas, keterlibatan keluarga dan teman, serta program kesehatan mental yang terintegrasi. Pendekatan berbasis nilai-nilai Islam memiliki potensi besar dalam memberikan dukungan spiritual dan emosional yang diperlukan untuk mencegah bunuh diri di kalangan mahasiswa.The phenomenon of suicide among university students has become a global issue that requires serious attention, especially from an Islamic perspective. This article discusses suicide among university students as a form of deviation from Islamic religious norms, which strictly prohibit such acts. In Islam, life is considered a mandate that must be preserved, and suicide is seen as a serious violation of religious teachings. This research uses a descriptive method through a literature study to explore the factors that drive students to commit suicide, the impact caused, and the prevention efforts that can be done. The results showed that factors such as academic pressure, personal problems, and social expectations can affect students' mental health, which in extreme cases can lead to suicide. The impacts of suicide include profound psychological and emotional effects on family and friends, decreased academic performance, and impaired mental and physical health. Effective prevention efforts include strong religious education, social and community support, family and friend involvement, and integrated mental health programs. An Islamic values-based approach has great potential in providing the spiritual and emotional support needed to prevent suicide among college students

    Integrasi Nilai-Nilai Adat Gayo dalam Praktek Ekonomi Syariah: Integration of Gayo Customary Values in Sharia Economic Practice

    The Islamic Economic System integrates moral values with Islamic economic practices to create equitable social welfare, namely integrating the moral values of Gayo tribal customs in Banda Aceh. This research aims to analyze the economic practices of Gayo people in the integration of customs and Islamic economics. The research method uses literature study, namely collecting data and searching literature and documentation such as books, articles and relevant news and analyzing by adjusting relevant data.  The results show that the economic practices of the Gayo community, such as the Alang Tulung Beret Berbantu tradition, reflect Islamic economic principles that emphasize justice, togetherness, and solidarity. This gotong royong system is not only a mechanism for distributing labor and production, but also strengthens social and moral values, without relying on conventional markets. Customary values such as order, setie, and semayang/gemasih are in line with Islamic principles such as trust, helping, and keeping contracts. In addition, Gayo economic activity is seen as part of worship, by instilling the values of intention for Allah (niyyah) and working as well as possible (ihsan). This tradition shows that local wisdom can strengthen Islamic business ethics and prevent people from harmful practices. Thus, Gayo's local culture-based economy has the potential to become a model economist.Sistem Ekonomi Islam mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai moral dengan praktik ekonomi Islam untuk menciptakan kesejahteraan sosial yang berkeadilan, yaitu mengintegrasikan nilai moral adat suku Gayo di Banda Aceh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis praktek ekonomi masyarakat Gayo dalam integrasi adat dan ekonomi Islami. Metode penelitian menggunakan studi pustaka yaitu melakukan pengumpulan data dan penelusuran literature dan dokumentasi seperti buku, artikel dan berita-berita yang relevan serta melkukan analisis dengan melakukan penyesuaian data yang relevan.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa praktik ekonomi masyarakat Gayo, seperti tradisi Alang Tulung Beret Berbantu, mencerminkan prinsip-prinsip ekonomi Islam yang menekankan keadilan, kebersamaan, dan solidaritas. Sistem gotong royong ini tidak hanya menjadi mekanisme distribusi tenaga kerja dan hasil produksi, tetapi juga memperkuat nilai sosial dan moral, tanpa bergantung pada pasar konvensional. Nilai-nilai adat seperti tertib, setie, dan semayang/gemasih sejalan dengan prinsip Islam seperti amanah, tolong-menolong, dan menepati akad. Selain itu, aktivitas ekonomi masyarakat Gayo dipandang sebagai bagian dari ibadah, dengan menanamkan nilai niat karena Allah (niyyah) dan bekerja sebaik mungkin (ihsan). Tradisi ini menunjukkan bahwa kearifan lokal mampu memperkuat etika bisnis Islam dan menghindarkan masyarakat dari praktik merugikan. Dengan demikian, ekonomi berbasis budaya lokal Gayo berpotensi menjadi model ekonomi Islam yang berkelanjutan, adil, dan berbasis nilai spiritual

    Teachers have a central role in shaping students' character and values, especially in the context of religious diversity. As role models of professional ethics, teachers can facilitate religious moderation in schools to create harmony and tolerance. This research aims to analyze the role of teachers as role models of professional ethics in building religious moderation in schools. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis at schools with high religious diversity backgrounds. Data analysis was carried out thematically to identify relevant patterns. The research results show that PAI teachers have a very strategic role in shaping student character, especially in instilling the values ​​of religious moderation. By implementing good professional ethics and using various effective learning methods, PAI teachers can contribute to creating a young generation with noble, tolerant and moderate morals

    Relevansi Prinsip Bagi Hasil dalam Sistem Ekonomi Islam Modern: Menyikapi Tantangan Keuangan Global

    This article examines the relevance of the Profit-and-Loss Sharing (PLS) principle in modern Islamic economics in response to global financial challenges and digital transformation. Employing a systematic literature review (SLR) method, the study analyzes 30 academic sources to explore: (1) the theological and ethical foundations of PLS, (2) barriers to its implementation in Islamic financial institutions, and (3) opportunities for integrating PLS with emerging technologies such as fintech and blockchain. The findings indicate that while normatively PLS promotes equitable risk-sharing and transparency, practical constraints include moral hazard, information asymmetry, and weak regulatory infrastructure. The adoption of digital finance offers potential solutions via smart contracts and Shariah-compliant platforms, contingent upon supportive and adaptive policy frameworks. This article develops a conceptual framework linking normative Islamic values with digital financial innovation, proposing a technology-driven operational model for PLS. The implications include regulatory reform, human resource development in Islamic finance, and strategic alignment with global efforts to build a more inclusive and resilient financial system.Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi relevansi prinsip bagi hasil (Profit-and-Loss Sharing/PLS) dalam ekonomi Islam modern sebagai respon terhadap tantangan keuangan global dan transformasi digital. Menggunakan metode studi literatur sistematis (Systematic Literature Review), penelitian ini mengkaji 30 publikasi akademik untuk menganalisis (1) fondasi teologis dan etis PLS, (2) kendala implementasinya dalam praktik lembaga keuangan syariah, dan (3) potensi integrasi PLS dengan inovasi teknologi seperti fintech dan blockchain. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa secara normatif, prinsip PLS mendukung keadilan distribusi dan transparansi, namun dihadapkan pada hambatan seperti moral hazard, asimetri informasi, dan lemahnya regulasi pendukung. Adopsi teknologi digital berpotensi menjadi solusi, melalui penerapan smart contract dan platform syariah berbasis teknologi, dengan syarat adanya dukungan kebijakan yang adaptif. Artikel ini menawarkan kerangka konseptual yang menghubungkan nilai-nilai normatif PLS dengan peluang implementatif dalam era keuangan digital. Implikasi penelitian ini mencakup model operasional PLS berbasis teknologi dan rekomendasi penguatan regulasi, serta pembinaan SDM sektor keuangan syariah untuk menjawab tuntutan sistem keuangan global yang inklusif dan berkelanjutan

    MSMEs play a crucial role in national economic development. However, their access to financing aligned with Islamic principles remains limited. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of Islamic contracts—murabahah, mudharabah, musyarakah, and salam—in MSME financing schemes in Indonesia. The method employed is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of 30 accredited academic publications. The findings show that murabahah dominates due to its efficiency and low risk, but it fails to reflect Islamic values of partnership. Other challenges include low sharia literacy, limited innovation, and the insufficient application of maqashid shariah principles. On the other hand, technological advances such as fintech and smart contracts offer new opportunities to improve financing effectiveness. The study implies the need for education, policy reform, and contextually grounded Islamic contract designs.UMKM memegang peranan vital dalam mendukung pertumbuhan ekonomi nasional. Namun demikian, akses mereka terhadap pembiayaan yang sesuai dengan prinsip syariah masih terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi implementasi akad-akad syariah seperti murabahah, mudharabah, musyarakah, dan salam dalam skema pembiayaan UMKM di Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan adalah Systematic Literature Review (SLR) terhadap 30 publikasi ilmiah terakreditasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi akad masih didominasi murabahah karena efisiensi dan rendah risiko, namun belum mencerminkan prinsip kemitraan Islam. Tantangan utama lainnya meliputi rendahnya literasi syariah pelaku UMKM, keterbatasan inovasi produk, dan belum optimalnya integrasi maqashid syariah. Di sisi lain, perkembangan teknologiseperti fintech dan smart contracts memberikan peluang baru untuk meningkatkan efisiensi dan transparansi pembiayaan.
