The study aimed to evaluate the efficiency and the quality of technology application of the tank mixture of glyphosate + carfentrazone-ethyl in Commelina diffusa control. The experiment was conducted in plastic greenhouse and the experimental units were represented by vessels with four plants of C. diffusa. The experimental design was the entirely randomized, with nine treatments in a factorial scheme (4x2)+1, being four spray nozzles, (XR11002; DG11002; TT11002 and AI11002), two spray solutions of glyphosate + carfentrazone-ethy at 480 + 8 g ha-1 (with and without Triunfo FlexTM adjuvant at 0.05% v v-1) and a check without application. In the spray solution was added the FD&C-1 dye (1500 ppm), and applied over natural (15 replications of four leaves of C. diffusa) and artificial targets (4 replications of two plastic blades over the soil). The tracer quantification on the targets was realized by spectrophotometry, beyond evaluated the pH, static surface tension  and conductivity of the solutions and control of C. diffusa at 5, 10 and 15 days after application. The Triunfo FlexTM adjuvant reduced the surface tension and the pH of carfentrazone-ethyl + glyphosate mixture. There was significant interaction between nozzles and glyphosate + carfentrazone-ethyl solution with the adjuvant for the deposit on the leaves of C. diffusa. With the exception of TT11002 model, the other nozzles promoted significant increase of the deposition on C. diffusa when combined with the adjuvant. For solution deposition in plastic blades the best performances were characterized by DG11002 nozzle with and without adjuvant and AI11002 nozzle with adjuvant. The initial control of C. diffusa with glyphosate + carfentrazone-ethyl was improved when associated with the adjuvant, mainly for AI11002 and TT11002 nozzles.O trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a eficiência e a qualidade da tecnologia de aplicação da mistura em tanque de glyphosate + carfentrazone-ethyl no controle de Commelina diffusa.

Ryegrass is the main weed that infests barley, causing high yield losses and quality of grain. Thus, this work intended to evaluate the selectivity and efficacy of herbicides for weed control in barley. For such, we carried out an experiment in the field with randomized block design in factorial scheme 2 x 12, with four replications. Factor A is composed by the barley genotypes MN610 and Criola and factor B by herbicides: iodosulfuron imazethapyr + imazapic; clomazone; propanil; oxyfluorfen; metsulfuron-methyl; 2,4-D; cyhalofop; penoxsulam; were allocated pyroxsulam, weeded and infested. MN610 genotype showed high sensitivity to clomazone and imazethapyr + imazapic, with its yield components reduced in the presence of these products. Criola genotype presented itself with more tolerance to iodosulfuron, propanil, pyroxsulam, imazethapyr + imazapic, clomazone and oxyfluorfen because its yield components were lesser negatively affected by herbicides. The herbicides may cause, depending on the genotype, reduction in yield components of culture, which consequently affect the grain yield of barley. The herbicide that had the best response was iodosulfuron, keeping the crop free of weeds and combined with a lower phytotoxicity culture. The herbicide that had the best response was iodosulfuron, it kept the crop free of weeds with lowest phytotoxicity to culture

Conclui-se que a aplicação isolada dos herbicidas residuais e da mistura com glyphosate apresentaram-se seletivos, quando aplicados após a poda das plantas de mandioca 'Fécula Branca'.Cassava varieties (Manihot esculenta L. Crantz) intended for industrial starch manufacturers are usually pruned during the period of physiological rest of the plants, requiring the adoption of management practices to prevent weed competition in the second cycle of crop development. The objective was to evaluate the selectivity of pre-emergent herbicides applied alone or in tank mix with glyphosate in applications after pruning of cassava 'Fécula Branca'. The experimental design was a randomized block with four replications. The treatments were: glyphosate (720 g ha-1), carfentrazone (25 g ha-1), chlorimuron-ethyl  (10 g ha-1), clomazone (1,080 g ha-1), flumioxazin (83 g ha-1), metribuzin (480 g ha-1) metsulfuron-methyl  (2.4 g ha-1), glyphosate + carfentrazone (720 + 25 g ha-1), glyphosate + chlorimuron-ethyl  (720 + 10 g ha-1), glyphosate + clomazone (720 + 1080 g ha-1), glyphosate + flumioxazin (720 + 83 g ha-1), glyphosate + metribuzin (720 + 480 g ha-1), glyphosate + metsulfuron-methyl  (720 + 2.4 g ha-1), and an untreated control. Evaluations included percentage of phytotoxicity, plant height, root yield and starch content of cassava. The herbicides applied alone and in tank mix did not cause phytotoxicity in cassava plants after application. The herbicides applied alone and in tank mix did not reduce plant height, root yield and starch content of cassava compared to untreated control. The isolated application of residual herbicides and mixes with glyphosate were considered selective when applied after pruning of cassava plants 'Fécula Branca'

It was aimed to verify the efficacy and selectivity of herbicides applied alone or in tank mixture for the weed control in peanut crop cv Runner IAC 886. Therefore, it was settled a field experiment, in a randomized block design with four replications. The treatments applied in pre-emergence were: 1-imazapic, 3-imazapic + pendimethalin, and 5-imazapic + trifluralin; the treatments applied in post-emergence were: 2-imazapic, 4-imazapic + pendimethalin, and 10-imazapic + (bentazon + paraquat); and treatments with application in PRE followed by POST were: 6-trifluralin and imazapic, 7-trifluralin and bentazon, 8-trifluralin and 2,4-D, 9-imazapic and bentazon + paraquat; besides the checks with and without weeding (treatments 11 and 12, respectively). It were evaluated the efficacy of herbicides and symptoms of intoxication in peanut plants by visual evaluations at 7, 14, 21, 28, 45, and 90 days after application, and, after the harvest, the pods yields. Treatments 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 had no significant reduction in peanut productivity. Treatment 10 was the least effective in controlling weeds and presented yields 47.3% lower than treatment 3 and 51.2% lower than the weeded control. It is concluded that for a weed community composed mainly of Cenchrus echinatus, Acanthospermum hispidum, Amaranthus deflexus, Parthenium hysterophorus, Alternanthera tenella, and Eleusine indica, the best weed control was obtained by imazapic in post-emergence. The application of imazapic + (bentazon + paraquat) in post-emergence was not effective in controlling weeds, resulting in yield losses

The objective was to evaluate the effect of glyphosate, paraquat and glufosinate-ammonium applied as directed spray in initial development of jatropha plants. A randomized block design was used, with five replicates. The treatments consisted of glyphosate (180, 360, 720 and 1,440 g ha-1), paraquat (100, 200, 400 and 800 g ha-1) and glufosinate-ammonium (125, 250, 500 and 1,000 g ha-1) and a control (no application). Herbicide application was performed at 145 days after sowing, with spraying directed to the lower third middle of the plants. The rates glyphosate provided average phytointoxication of 2.4% and no reduction in leaf area, however, there was an average reduction of 9.0% of dry weight at 35 days after application (DAA). Paraquat, for rates ≤ 200 g ha-1, phytointoxication was lower than 20% to 35 DAA, however, there was a reduction in leaf area and plant dry mass of 47.0 and 18.2%, respectively. The rate of 125 g ha-1 glufosinate-ammonium was the one that gave the lowest values of phytointoxication (<20.0%), reduction in leaf area (2.7%) and dry mass (10.5%) plants up to 35 DAA.  It was concluded that the contact of paraquat and glufosinate-ammonium with stems and lower leaves may impair the initial development of jatropha. However, application of glyphosate direct spray did not impair the initial development of jatropha, regardless of the rate used

In the desiccation of the vegetation cover, failures are of common occurrence, resulting from insufficient deposition of herbicides. Thus, it becomes important to know the factors that may interfere in the application. The present work aimed to investigate the efficiency of the pulverization of spray volumes in different weather conditions. The applications were carried out during the day for desiccation of Urochloa ruziziensis and spontaneous vegetation for no-tillage establishment. It was adopted a randomized block design with four replications in a split plot scheme of 2 x 4. The plots consisted of application volumes (50 and 200 L ha-1); and the subplots consisted of different atmospheric conditions obtained by applying at different times (4:30, 10:30, 16:30 and 22:30 hours) throughout the same day. In the application, it was used a customized sprayer, pressurized by CO2 with the spray nozzle model 110015 TT generating mean drops. It was used glyphosate herbicide at a dose of 1.3 kg a.e. ha-1. At 5, 10, 15, and 20 days after herbicide application, it were performed visual assessments of the percentage of control of the vegetation cover. Weather conditions (air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and irradiance) found in the application schedules exerted no influence on the efficacy of the herbicide in control of U. ruziziensis in both application volumes. Reducing the spray volume had influence on the control effectiveness of the natural vegetation in all weather conditions where the herbicide was applied

The accidental drift can occur as a result of the herbicide application. However, little is known regarding the physiological changes in crops resulting from herbicide drift. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effects of simulated drift of glyphosate and clomazone in tomato. The experimental scheme was randomized and the treatments arranged in a factorial design, where factor A compared herbicides (glyphosate or clomazone) and factor B rates (0, 12.5, 25, 37.5 and 50% of the recommended rate). Content of total phenols, chlorophyll contents (a, b and total) and carotenoids, lipid peroxidation and electrolyte leakage were evaluated. Increasing rates of herbicides resulted in increased content of total phenols and electrolyte leakage in plants. Drift of herbicide glyphosate results in the reduction of photosynthetic pigments and causes higher lipid peroxidation of membranes in tomato, compared to clomazone. The accidental drift results in alteration in the metabolism of tomato plants, resulting in oxidative stress

Brachiaria ruziziensis can contribute to the consolidation of the no-tillage system due to high production of biomass that can be used in integrated management of weeds. However, there is little information regarding the desiccation of this forage, particularly with the use of contact action herbicides. The present work aimed to evaluate the different management methods of desiccation of B. ruziziensis, and the effect in second season maize crop and weed suppression. The experimental design was a randomized complete block design with four replications.
