An Analysis of the Content Knowledge Elective Courses of the ELT Departments%253A A Suggested Syllabus
This research study took its sprouts from the reform implemented by the Council of Higher Education (CoHE), Turkey in 2018. The recent update has focused not only on the deficiencies of the existing programme but also enhancing the number of the elective courses up to 25 per cent. Correspondingly, CoHe suggested thirteen Content Knowledge electives along with granting authorization to universities to add six more electives on demand. Originated with these decision-making exigencies, this two-phased study was planned to disclose the favoured elective of 1093 EFL teachers in the first phase while the focus on the second phase changed direction to a syllabus design on the relevant elective with the guidance of teacher educators. The first phase of the research exploits a mixed method sequential exploratory design involving qualitative and quantitative research paradigms revealing Current Trends in ELT as the most favoured elective course, consequently. In the following phase, a further step was taken, and 62 teacher educators were consulted regarding the content of the course. Having analysed the responses by open-coding technique, the theme lsquo%253Btechnology integration was found out to be teacher educators main concern. Based on this data, the targeted topic-based syllabus was designed around the suggested sub themes of technology integration and ultimately fine-tuned through the lenses of two experts. The study also presented a compilation of teacher educators responses which should carefully be scrutinized and utilized by the policy makers and decision-making parties
Pre-Service Science Teachers Images and Misconceptions About Chemical Equilibrium
Determining pre-service teachers images and removing their misconceptions with scientifically true ones are very important so that these teachers could bring up students without misconceptions. In the current study, it was aimed to highlight pre-service science teachers images and misconceptions about chemical equilibrium together and in detail. For this purpose, qualitative research was employed. The research was conducted on 20 pre-service science teachers educating at a university in middle Anatolia region. Worksheets were utilized as data collecting tools. In worksheets there was a question about making pre-service teachers draw four different scenarios for a given chemical equilibrium reaction at different times%253B at the beginning of the reaction, before the chemical equilibrium, at the chemical equilibrium, after the chemical equilibrium, but at a common temperature and then making them explain their drawings. Data was analysed through content analysis. The results lightened that pre-service science teachers chemical equilibrium concept images were inadequate since their mental images about the concept were scientifically wrong. On the other hand, the pre-service science teachers had different misconceptions. The most common misconceptions of pre-service science teachers were as Diatomic molecules form atoms and then these atoms form new chemicals (f%253A10)., There are only products or activated complexes in the tank during and%252For afterwards of the chemical equilibrium (f%253A15)., Atoms could disappear and%252For reappear (f%253A14)., and Products are formed at the chemical equilibrium (f%253A17)
The Relationships Between Global Citizenship, Multicultural Personality and Critical Thinking
The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between global citizenship, multicultural personality and critical thinking in preservice teachers. The study group consisted of 363 preservice teachers who attend different departments of Faculty of Education in Kutahya. Data collection was done through Scale Universal Citizenship, Multicultural Personality Questionnaire and Critical Thinking Disposition Scale. Because the data exhibited a normal distribution because of preliminary analysis, Pearson product-moment correlation analysis of parametric tests and multiple regression analysis were used for data analysis. According to the findings, there is positive relationship between critical thinking and multicultural personality trends and global citizenship. In other words, as multicultural personality scores increased, level of global citizenship also increased. Or as critical thinking tendencies decreased, the level of universal citizenship decreased. In a society where people adopt universal values and can think critically, democracy, justice and tolerance become dominant. And in a globalized world where there is no critical thinking, consequences of wrong thinking and wrong decisions will end up with global violence, intolerance, injustice, and war that has high destructive power

On the other hand, the technical infrastructure of the portal is insufficient, and there is no instructional or tutorial support, lack of interactive speaking features, besides the number of videos have been found to be inadequate by the users. At the end of the study, based on the findings, some suggestions were offered by the researchers to improve the Distance Turkish Learning Portal
Teacher Candidates Value Perceptions and Their Opinions on the Acquisition of Values in Education Faculties
This research aims to determine teacher candidates value perceptions and their opinions on the acquisition of values to teacher candidates, in education faculties. In the research, a survey model was used to describe an existing situation. In this context, a questionnaire was applied to 2274 teacher candidates. Research results show that the value perceptions of male teacher candidates are lower than female teacher candidates. The value perceptions of teacher candidates who chose the teaching profession because they had to, were lower than those who preferred it because they loved it. Perceptions of teacher candidates about the acquisition of values are low in the sub-dimensions of understanding and empathy, and medium in the other sub-dimensions. Teacher candidates perceptions of the values that teachers should have are quite high in all sub-dimensions. Despite this, the scores regarding the acquisition of the same values in education faculties are statistically significantly lower and middle levels. These results indicate that the values cannot be gained enough in education faculties. Various suggestions were made in line with the research findings and results, and recommendations were made for future research
