The Role of Teachers and Parents in Overcoming Separation Anxiety in Early Childhood

    No full text
Separation Anxiety Disorder (SAD)   is an emotional problem often experienced in early childhood, especially when they first enter an educational environment. This condition can hinder the adaptation process, independence, and involvement of children in learning activities. Therefore, the role of teachers and parents is an important factor in helping children overcome separation anxiety. This study aims to describe the role of teachers and parents in overcoming SAD in early childhood at PAUD. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method because it allows researchers to explore in depth the behavior of children and the dynamics of interaction between children, teachers, and parents in a natural context. The research subject was one child at the Al-Hafidz Early Childhood Education Center in Cipocok Jaya, Serang City. Data collection techniques included observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of the study, based on observation and interviews, showed that the child experienced symptoms of SAD, such as crying when separated from parents, refusing to enter the classroom, and showing high emotional dependence. Teachers act as surrogate figures who provide a sense of security through play-based approaches, empathetic communication, and enjoyable learning strategies. Meanwhile, parents, especially mothers, play a role through permissive parenting patterns that influence the child's condition. Intensive collaboration between teachers and parents has a positive impact on improving the child's independence and adaptabilit

Early Childhood Education plays an essential role in supporting children’s overall development, including motor skills, particularly for children with special needs who have diverse developmental characteristics. Differences in developmental pace, language abilities, behavior, and social interaction require adaptive learning approaches that respond to individual needs. This study aims toescribe the implementation of the Individualized Learning Program (Program Pembelajaran Individual/PPI) in improving the fine motor skills of children with special needs at Integrated Islamic Kindergarten (Taman Kanak-Kanak Islam Terpadu/TKIT) Sahabat, East Jakarta. This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. The subjects consisted of three children with special needs and two accompanying teachers. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with teachers, the principal, and parents, as well as documentation of the learning program. The findings reveal that the PPI supports the development of children’s fine motor skills through activities such as threading, drawing, and pasting that are adjusted to each child’s developmental level. The use of varied learning media and individualized instructional strategies helps increase children’s motivation, confidence, and engagement in learning. Challenges in implementation include limited facilities and infrastructure and the need for continuous teacher professional development. Collaboration among teachers, parents, and the school supports the successful implementation of the program

    No full text
The probability generating function (PGF) of a discrete random variable is a concise way to describe the corresponding probability distribution and facilitate analysis. This paper will revisit and explore certain key properties of the PGFs, focusing on structural properties, moment characterization and stability under convolution. Through applications to distribution generation, branching processes, and queueing models, PGFs are shown to provide clear insight into extinction probabilities and steady-state behavior. The results confirm that probability generating functions provide a coherent and useful framework for both theory and applications in discrete stochastic modelling

Tourism is important for the growth and development of any economy, either national or regional, thus, it is essential to pay attention to the factors that motivate tourist demand for a destination. In the Niger Delta, policies on tourism are not well articulated and one of the consequences of this is that the recreational needs of both local and foreign tourists are not adequately met. In light of the foregoing, this study sought to investigate tourism features deficiencies and tourist level of demand for the destination in the Niger Delta, Nigeria. The Service Quality Theory (SQT) was the theoretical framework that guided the study. Twelve tourist destinations were chosen from six states that comprise south-south Niger Delta, inclusive of Ossosso and Igarra tourist destinations in Edo State, Rivotel hotel and Gordon Resort hotel in Delta State, Ox-Bow lake and peace park tourist destinations in Bayelsa State, Port Harcourt Zoo and Pleasure Park in Rivers state. Ibeno beach and Garden hotel Resort in Akwa-Ibom state, as well as the National Museum and Tinapa tourist destination in Cross River State. A total of 950 respondents across the 12 tourist destinations constituted the sample size for this study and primary data through the use of well-structured questionnaires were extracted from these respondents. The Crumbach Alpha method was used to measure the validity of the instrument, and result shows a strong positive reliability of the instrument. The data was analyzed first by using descriptive statistics while the multiple Regression technique was used to test the study hypothesis. The findings of the study revealed that there is significant difference among tourist destination in their deficiency of tourism features. The findings also revealed that features which were lacking in tourist destination but needed urgent provisions are variety of affordable food and drinks, horse and donkey ridding, standard zoo and museum, affordable and comfortable accommodation. Others include: student hostels, picnics, attractions and medical facilities. In light of these findings, the study recommended among others that tourist facilities, considered lacking should be adequately provided and tailored to cater for the diverse needs of tourists in destination centers in the Niger Delta

Ecolinguistic study of the IKN discourse in global and national news media

This study aims to examine how news outlets construct discourse about Indonesia’s new capital (IKN) in North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan. The researchers employed Stibbe's (2015) ecolinguistic framework. The problem lies in the contrasting views between stakeholders and indigenous communities of East Kalimantan toward such development. Therefore, this study bridges the gap by discovering how both parties defend their stances: “Is IKN an ideal project or not?” This study adopted a textual analysis technique, with relevant data collected from Al Jazeera, CNN, and Tempo.co between January 18, 2022, and March 19, 2025. The researchers used a note-taking technique and mapped each text onto Stibbe's (2015) ecolinguistic stories of ideology, framing, evaluation, and identity. Furthermore, the researchers classified each text based on modal verbs such as “should,” “must,” and “will,” adjectives such as “good” or “bad,” and phrasal nouns such as “environmental activists.” The results show that the story of evaluation appears more frequently, accentuating people’s negative responses, evidenced by terms such as “haunting,” “miserable lives,” and “shrinking.” The researchers affirm that the news media tend to report narratives of a conflict between neoliberal agendas (the government) and ecological sustainability (indigenous tribes of East Kalimantan)
