The development of e-magazine media was carried out to become an additional information source on the fungi diversity submaterial. This study used a qualitative descriptive method of 2-stage research, including interviews and media making. The media-making stage was then divided into pre-production, production, and post-production. Media feasibility validation was carried out at the post-production stage with a Likert scale assessment and analyzed using Lawshe's formula. The media validation results obtained a CVI value of 1.00. The validation results exceeded the value of 0.99 criteria from 5 validators; it can be concluded that the e-magazine media is valid for use in the fungi diversity submaterial

Integrating Critical Thinking into Indonesia's EFL Curriculum: Insights from Bengkulu Teachers

    Get PDF
In today's globalized world, the ability to communicate effectively in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and critical thinking are indispensable skills for Indonesian students. However, traditional EFL curricula in Indonesia often prioritize linguistic competence and neglect critical thinking skills. This study explores the perspectives of EFL teachers in Bengkulu regarding their students' critical thinking skills and their views on integrating critical thinking instruction into the EFL curriculum. Using two adapted questionnaires, data was collected from 23 teachers in various educational institutions in Bengkulu. The results showed that although students demonstrated basic critical thinking concepts, they struggled with higher-order skills such as evaluating evidence objectively and anticipating consequences. Most teachers (91.3%) believe that teaching critical thinking is part of their job, and 65.2% support its incorporation into the EFL curriculum. However, 65.2% felt that they needed more training, and 34.8% were unsure about what critical thinking entailed. These findings underscore the need for a comprehensive curriculum overhaul in which critical thinking is woven throughout the language domain, supported by extensive teacher training, localized learning materials, and innovative assessments. By undertaking such reforms, Indonesia can nurture a generation of globally competent communicators capable of navigating the complexities of the 21st century

The low productivity of rice in Seluma Selatan District is caused by fertilization actions based on general recommendations and not based on site-specific recommendations. In fact, fertilization should be based on soil nutrient status, especially N, P and K. This study aims to determine the nutrient status and evaluate the suitability class of lowland rice in Seluma Selatan District, Seluma Regency. This study used survey methods, soil sampling, and laboratory analysis, then matched it with the soil fertility level classification system and land suitability classification. The results showed that the nutrient status of paddy fields in Seluma Selatan sub-district in low-medium rice fields was categorized. It is characterized by an acidic pH value and low P2O5 in providing nutrients for lowland rice plants. Evaluation of land suitability in Seluma Selatan sub-district shows that the land suitability classes are S2 and S3.The results of the evaluation of the most suitable land suitability for land unit 2 (Au.1.1.1) were quite suitable for S2n with available nutrient limiting factors at the P2O5 level and marginally suitable for S3n on land unit 4 (Hab.1.1.1) with available nutrient limiting factors at P2O5 and K2O levels. Efforts to improve the suitability class S2 (fairly suitable) can be increased to S1 class (very suitable) and the S3 land suitability class (marginally appropriate) can be increased to S2 (quite suitable). The low productivity of rice in Seluma Selatan District is caused by fertilization actions based on general recommendations and not based on site-specific recommendations. Kismantoro district is a karst land with unique characteristics and its physical health is easily influenced by land use. The purpose of this study was to identify the physical health status of soil, and find the influence of land use and parameters that limit soil physical health, which eventually provide appropriate land management strategies and recommendations to improve soil health. The research was conducted using a descriptive explorative approach and a purposive sampling method on the 12 Land Map Units (LMU) with three replications. Data were analysed using Analysis of Variance and Pearson correlation. Results indicated that most soil physical health in agricultural land in Kismantoro District is healthy. The highest soil physical health status was found on plantation agricultural land, with the average of the soil physical health being high status of 63.22%, followed by moor agricultural land at 52.83% and rice fields at 48.2%. The determinant factors of soil physical health were soil porosity, bulk density, and soil texture. To enhance the physical health of agricultural soil in Kismantoro District, it is recommended to apply organic matter, adopt zero or no-tillage practices, and grow cover crops on agricultural land.  Keywords: determinant factor, soil compaction, soil texture, sustainable management

Enhancing Business Performance through Digital Financial Literacy: Evidence from Gorontalo

    No full text
The digital financialization of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) increases access to information and facilitates resource management. During the pandemic, there was a significant surge in digital transactions, increasing sales of several products, with Gorontalo Province experiencing a 3.57% rise. This research investigates the impact of social factors on digital financial literacy and their influence on the performance of MSMEs. Conducted in Gorontalo City from March to July 2024, this research employed an explanatory approach, focusing on the founders of MSMEs, specifically 50 individuals who served as respondents. Primary data was collected through structured interviews using questionnaires. The analysis utilized Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS), supported by Smart-PLS 3.0 software. The findings reveal that social factors significantly influence digital financial literacy, although they do not directly affect MSMEs' performance. Digital technology, however, has a significant impact on MSMEs' performance and mediates the relationship between social factors and performance. Despite these advancements, many MSME actors lack proper financial management practices, such as recording daily cash inflows and outflows, limiting their financial awareness. Targeted financial education programs are essential and include hands-on training on the use of financial management applications for tracking income and expenses. Furthermore, collaborations with financial institutions, fintech platforms, and e-commerce providers can facilitate training in digital financial tools and services. Although participation in such initiatives is currently limited, institutions like Bank Indonesia can scale up efforts to develop model MSMEs that inspire broader adoption of digital financial practices among other enterprises
