The “2.28 Shalom Movement” and Social Reconciliation in Taiwan : An Interview with Su Nan-chou and Peng Hai-ying
Get PDFThis is a report of an interview with Su Nan-chou and Peng Hai-ying, who commited themselves to the promotion of social reconciliation in Taiwan. The aim of this article is to record the trajectory of the rehabilitation movement over the February 28th Incident（2.28 Incident） in Taiwan which began in the late 1980s, with a special focus on the role and accomplishments of Christians without any party affiliation. The initial action to accuse the Chinese Nationalist Party （KMT） and launch a redress campaign against the KMT government was driven by an anti-government movement. Following the establishment of the 228 Peace Day Association in 1987, the “2.28 Justice and Peace Movement” was carried out from 1989. However, the “2.28 Shalom Service” initiated by Su Nan-chou in 1990 opened the initial gate toward reconciliation. The first victims’ family association, the World Alliance for Concerned Citizens and Surviving Victims and Families, was set up by Su together with Lin Tsung-yi. Both played a significant role in transforming the rehabilitation movement from “confrontation” to “reconciliation.” In this report, Su and Peng recall their experiences and memories of how Lin and Su devoted their efforts through their “2.28 Shalom Movement” to achieve maximum results for the social reconciliation in Taiwan. A study of the works of Nobuko Hara, focusing on her works that combine Western and Eastern (specifically Japanese) influences
Get PDFThis study aims to explore the activities and achievements of the clothing designer Nobuko Hara by analyzing her works from the two perspectives of design and modeling. Using donated materials, we investigated her design drawings and actual items that are inspired by both Western and Eastern (specifically Japanese) traditions.
A design analysis shows that in the latter stage of her career (the 1980s), she created more works with shapes (items, silhouettes, and details) that evoke images of Japan and are made of kimono fabrics than she did earlier on, such as in the 1960s. This seems to go against the increasing adoption of Western clothes and the development of the apparel industry in Japan; at the same time, though, we can sense her strong will as a fashion researcher. She had outstanding skills in using kimono fabrics to make Western clothes. Her works that evoke kimonos are found to be made using masterly Western draping techniques.
The design and modeling of her works, in which Western and Japanese styles are fused, could be achieved only by an individual like Nobuko Hara, who had a deep knowledge of the designs, fabrics, and modeling of both Western and Japanese clothes. An analysis of her works confirms her achievements as a fashion researcher who brought Western techniques to Japan while at the same time preserving Japanese traditions.departmental bulletin pape
Development of Biomimetic Materials Using Additive Manufacturing
Get PDFCotton and wood have complex, hierarchical internal structures that exhibit superior physical properties that cannot be reproduced by man-made materials. In this study, we applied additive manufacturing (AM) technology to develop materials that mimic the complex microstructures produced by living organisms. The structures formed using 3D printing filaments composited with flexible thermoplastic polyurethane and a water-soluble polymer exhibit a wood-like porous structure and significantly enhanced flexibility. Get PDF小泉（2023）による最近のSDGs 研究論文調査で得られた原価計算・管理会計学領域における学術的な論点・研究テーマが,海外の大学の会計学領域の学部・修士課程の学生向けの原価計算・管理会計学の教材にどのように採用・導入されているかを分析することで,「研究」と「教育」の間の距離感と橋渡しの状況を探り,日本における会計学教育の基盤整備・拡充の手がかりを求めることを目的としている.
具体的には,欧米の教育現場で広く使われているHorngren の原価計算・管理会計学テキストにおいて,各論点・研究テーマがどこに導入されているかを,アクティブリーディング型のソフトであるLiquidText を使用して調査・表示する方法を提示している.
この方法論は,SDGs や会計学に限らず,他の新たなテーマや他の学問・教育領域でも十分に利用可能であろう.This paper is a follow-up to the writer’s earlier paper (Koizumi 2023), which identified certain SDGs related academic issues and research themes actively raised among the academics worldwide in the field of accounting.
This paper aims to explore, in the context of SDGs education, the possible gaps between the academia and the educational fields, and the bridges crossing between them, by investigating how such academic themes, as identified by Koizumi (2023), have been accommodated in the leading textbooks frequently used in the accounting departments of many overseas universities (undergraduates and masters), and thus to search for suggestions for the promotion and enhancement of the accounting education in Japan. Specifically, this paper presents a method to examine and display where and how each of such academic themes has been incorporated in “Horngren’s Cost Accounting – A Managerial Emphasis (17E),” widely used in North America and Europe, by applying LiquidText, software developed for active reading.
The methodology presented here is not confined to SDGs nor accounting, and is capable of being exploited for any other high-level themes and concepts and in any other academic and educational settings, which requires transparency and traceability.departmental bulletin pape
