Objective Setting and Segmentation in Disaster Management : Application of Social Marketing
Japan, being prone to earthquakes and other disasters, has adopted various disaster prevention approaches. Among these, soft approaches, such as evacuation drills, have gained prominence in recent years. Given the varying responses and decision-making processes during evacuations, the application of social marketing techniques, such as segmentation, becomes crucial. In this study, we examine the application of these techniques in terms of aspects that have not yet been addressed in existing research. First, we discuss the necessity of setting overall objectives, taking into account factors like equality. Subsequently, we describe the segmentation method for disaster prevention and emphasize key considerations. Furthermore, we discuss the types of policies that can be implemented, summarizing the decision-making factors that are important in determining these measures. Based on the above, we analyze a case in Miyagi Prefecture, examining it from the perspective of marketing for disaster reduction. The findings underscore the importance of pre-determining societal objectives and considering social interaction in policymaking. Our results provide valuable insights for the government, various disaster-reduction organizations, and practitioners in the disaster-reduction field, offering new perspectives on social marketing.departmental bulletin pape

A Case Study of Accounting Education for Japanese Women in the Early Showa Period(3) : An Examination from the Perspective of SDG Goal 4 “Equal Access”
This study builds on Koizumi (2024d, 2024e) and examines the state of accounting education for Japanese women during the Early Showa Period through Yoshida Ryōzō’s Bookkeeping Textbook for Women (1936) from the perspective of “equal access” outlined in SDG Target 4.3. It organizes the historical background and changes in women’s education systems, revealing that opportunities for women to study accounting were limited, but that some access was provided. Additionally, through a comparison of gender perspectives between Emily Davies and Fukuzawa Yukichi’s New Woman’s Doctrine, it explores Yoshida’s gender views and the significance of his textbook. This research focuses on female accounting education during this period and provides insights into modern accounting education, particularly for female students. These findings are also useful for understanding women’s professional advancement today.departmental bulletin pape
The Formation of a Nation and the Landscape of Memory of Autonomous Experience in the Basque Country : A Case of Abellaneda in las Encartaciones County, Bizkaia
Abellaneda is a small town in the municipality of Sopuerta, las Encartaciones County
of the province of Bizkaia. The town is not administrative center of the municipality
nowadays, despite the importance as the place of memory for the local people. An origin of the place name of las Encartaciones dates back to the 10 th century, and just after two centuries, Abellaneda began to take a roll of the administrative and the political center of the region, being held there an autonomous assembly composed by local representatives. The autonomous assembly “juntas generals”, maintained highly autonomous function by holding local legal system, called as“ fuero”, and could prevent irrational intervention by the superior autonomous body, Lordship of Bizkaia. Abellaneda and las Encartaciones closed its autonomous history in the beginning of the 19 th century by total incorporation to the Bizkaia. However, the tower house building, in which there was an assembly room, was transformed into a museum in 1934 . From then on, Abellaneda has been a place that exhibits local history and takes over the memory of local people’s experience. It is deeply impressive that, in the place where local autonomy had practiced, local people currently discuss about the exhibitions and the establishment which represent the memory of autonomy even though the form has changed from assembly into museum. The memory of dialogues between local people from the medieval period to the present day has been engraved in the landscape of memory in Avellaneda.departmental bulletin pape
