Validation of a rubric for evaluating the child health nursing practicum
Get PDFTo maintain and enhance the quality of student learning, this educational practice study aims to improve teaching methods. The study seeks to examine the degree of agreement between students’ self-evaluations and faculty evaluations when using a rubric evaluation form introduced in child health nursing practice. The study also examines the validity of the rubric. A total of 80 students filled out the rubric form, which had eight items, resulting in a total of 640 items for analysis.
The number of items with discrepancies in student-faculty evaluations was 365 (57.0%), and 112 (17.5%) of these items displayed a gap of two or more grade levels. Of the 365 items with discrepancies, 300 (82.2%) were rated higher by students, and 65 (17.8%) were rated higher by faculties. Among the items evaluated, the items with the highest number of discrepancies between student and faculty evaluations were Item VII (“understanding child health nursing roles in interprofessional collaboration”), Item II (“ability to relate to children”), and Item VI (“understanding the characteristics of outpatient nursing”). Because of the restrictions on on-site training during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is possible that respondents had difficulty understanding these items, which may explain the differences between students’ and faculty members’ evaluations. Moreover, items with two or more discrepancies in the student-faculty evaluation may have been difficult for the students to understand. It was assumed that examining the content of the evaluation items, having the students and faculties work together during the training to check the achievement levels of learning objectives using the evaluation chart, and providing feedback during the training would lead to appropriate evaluations by both students and faculties.

A Study of Mothers’ and ECEC Teachers’ Physical Contact with Younger Children : Focusing on the Type of Physical Contact and Emotional Status.
Get PDF本研究の目的は，母親と保育者が子どもに対して行う身体接触にどのような特徴があるのか，また，子どもの情動場面によって母親と保育者の身体接触は異なるのかを明らかにすることである。0 歳児から5 歳児クラスの母親と同一園に勤務する保育者を対象とし，母親には自分の子ども（保育者は自分のクラスの子ども）に対して行う身体接触を尋ねた。その結果，1 歳児群の母親は他の年齢群の母親より身体接触をする人が有意に多く，それに対して，1 歳児群の保育者は他の年齢群の保育者より身体接触をする人が有意に少ないことが明らかになった。さらに，母親と保育者では1 歳児に対して行う身体接触が子どもの情動場面によって異なることが示唆された。The purpose of this study was to clarify the characteristics of physical contact between mothers and ECEC teachers with younger children, and whether the physical contact between mothers and ECEC teachers differs depending on the children’s emotional situations. Mothers of 0 to 5 year old classes and ECEC teachers working in the same preschool were included, and mothers were asked about physical contact they make with their own children (and ECEC teachers are children in their own classes). The results showed that mothers in the 1-year-old group made significantly more physical contact with their children than mothers in the other age groups, while ECEC teachers in the 1-year-old group made significantly less physical contact with their children than ECEC teachers in the other age groups. Furthermore, the results suggest that the physical contact mothers and ECEC teachers make with 1-year-olds differs depending on the child’s emotional situation.departmental bulletin pape
