Creation of the Xiang Navy by Zeng Guofan in 1853
Get PDFThe year 1853 , the third year of Emperor Xianfeng’s reign, was critical for the war between the Qing dynasty and the Taiping rebel forces. In that year, the Taiping forces successively occupied three important cities on the lower reaches of the Yangtze River— Nanjing, Yangzhou and Zhenjiang—and made Nanjing, under the name“Tianjing,”their capital. Under the able leadership of Yang Xiuqing, a hastily built fleet gave the Taiping forces an overwhelming advantage. Emperor Xianfeng was furious about the hesitation of the generals, especially Qishan in the north and Xiang Rong in the south of the Yangtze River, to fight. The emperor ordered a new fleet to be built hurriedly and sent to the front. In Hunan, Zeng Guofan succeeded in building this new fleet despite of his lack of status, experience and funds. As most people in Hunan were afraid of boarding a ship, recruiting crew members for the fleet was also a challenge. Zeng Guofan managed to make the necessary preparations and departed with the fleet in January 1854 , but it was too late to rescue his friend Jiang Zhongyuan in Anhui and mentor Wu Wenrong in Hubei. Copular Sentences ‟ ～noga N da ” and ‟ ～kotoga N da ” with Content Clause
Get PDFIn this research note, the following points are discussed based on BCCWJ usage
examples.
The difference between ‟ ～noga N da ” and ‟ ～kotoga N da ” can be explained by
the difference in the properties of the ‟no ” and ‟koto ” that make the noun clause.
While ‟no ” takes the situation in the clause as a specific action, state, or event,
‟koto ” takes the situation in the clause as one coherent matter.
There are two types of nouns: those that can only be stated‟ ～ noga N da ,” and
those that can be stated both ‟ ～ noga N da ” and ‟ ～ kotoga N da .” Even in the
former case, it becomes possible to use the expression ‟ ～ kotoga N da ” under
contextual conditions, such as the presence of modifying expressions.
While both ‟N wa ～ kotoda” and ‟ ～ kotoga N da” are specificational sentences,
‟ ～ noga N da ” is not specificational sentence because the content clause cannot
be stated as one coherent matter.
‟N wa ～toiumonoda ” and ‟ ～noga N da ” have in common that they specifically
state what the content of the noun is. However, because of the difference in the way
they are stated, nouns that are stated as ‟ ～noga N da ” do not always have

An Attempt to Use the Japanese-style Books of Kyoritsu Women’s University Library Collection for Educational Purposes
Get PDFIn recent years, there has been a lively debate among various academic societies on the state of classical literature education. As is well known, the social tendency to regard classical literature as unnecessary is growing stronger year by year. This situation should not be overlooked by those involved in classical literature education, nor by classical literature researchers. As a way to increase interest in classical literature and culture, we believe it is important to introduce Japanese-style books, mainly from theEdo period and earlier, and to let them known widely through education.
Despite the large collection of antique Japanese-style books our university owns, no research on them had been made public, except for a catalog compiled in 1996. Thanks to the grant for cooperative researches by the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of Science and Culture, we have compiled the second catalog. Of the books not included in the initial catalog, 40 items were selected as particularly rare, in good condition, or widely known, and are described not only in terms of their bibliography, but also in terms of their contents. This catalog was designed to be used not only for research but also for education. It was distributed to students enrolled in Japanese Literature Reading A in 2023, where the students were provided with opportunities to actually contact with classical Japanese-style books and to increase their interest in them.departmental bulletin pape

Analyzing Spatial Cognition Abilities in Computer-Aided Clothing Design
Get PDFThe purpose of this study is to develop an educational program to help novice learners acquire computer patternmaking and 3D virtual prototyping skills in a short period of time. This paper quantitatively analyzed the factors that may be obstacles to the learning process. An experiment was conducted using a skirt prototype with evaluation items for the spatial arrangement of flat pattern pieces. The experimental results suggested that novice learners lacked the ability to discriminate the front-back, left-right, two sides of pattern pieces, especially the front and back. Furthermore, we investigated the discrimination of the front -back center line and the side lines on the pattern piece. The results showed that they did not accurately understand the correspondence between the pattern pieces and the 3D garment shape, suggesting the importance of spatial cognitive ability. To solve these problems, we proposed（ 1）an explanation of the geometric features of the patterns, （2） limiting the viewpoints in the 3D space, and（ 3） promoting active learning.departmental bulletin pape

Get PDF本稿の目的は、小児看護学実習の最終日プログラムの内容、および、その変更に至るプロセスについてインストラクショナルデザインの教育設計開発に一般的なADDIE モデルを使って考察し、今後の課題について論述することである。
小児看護学実習は、病棟だけでなく保育園や外来など複数の施設を組み合わせて実習を行う。学生は、実習全体を統合して思考することや学びを深めることに課題があった。そこで、最終日のプログラムについて、到達目標を軸にコンテンツの再編を行った。グループワークでの思考の促しや、カンファレンスでの積極的な教員の発問などを行ったところ、学生の発言や取り組みに変化が見られた。今後の課題として、日程の都合で最終日プログラムを実施していないグループへの対応を検討する必要があり、学生の成績への効果などより多角的にプログラムを評価して行く必要がある。departmental bulletin pape
