Survey of Authors’ Collaboration Rate in Scientometrics Journal Articles during 2004 to 2008

    Get PDF
There are evidences of the relationship between collaboration rate and quality of articles. The more the number of authors, the more qualified the article. Study of the collaboration rate among researchers is essential for strategic planning and research policy in major. The main objective of this research is to determine the authors' collaboration rate in the articles of Scientometrics journal. Other aims are determination of the number of articles of the journal during the mentioned year, the most prolific authors, the most prolific organizations and research centers, etc. The type of research is descriptive survey. Data was gathered via check list and analyzed through Excel. The most articles have been published in 2006 and the least in 2004. The mean number for each article is 2.33 authors. The collaboration coefficient is 0.60. Wolfgang Glänzel, Ronald Rousseau, and Leo Egghe are 3 writers who had the most articles and also the more collaboration during the mentioned years.Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium) with 71 articles, University of Granada (Spain (with 49 articles and Hungarian Academy of Sciences (Hungary) with 33 articles are the centers which had the most collaborations

Multiobjective Geometric Programming with Fuzzy Parameters

    No full text
Generally, an engineering design problem has multiple objective functions. Some of these problems can be formulated as multiobjective geometric programming models. On the other hand, often in the real world, coefficients of the objective functions are not known precisely. Coefficients may be interpreted as fuzzy numbers, which lead to a multiobjective geometric programming with fuzzy parameters. In this paper, we solve the multiobjective geometric programming problem with fuzzy parameters by applying a linear ranking function. The linear ranking function is used to compare fuzzy numbers. Finally, a numerical example is given

Forward Link Power Control in Wcdma Cellular Systems Using Space-time Diversity Technique

    No full text
One of the most effective techniques to mitigate multipath fading and inter-cell interference at a downlink wireless channel in WCDMA systems for achieving high capacity is transmitter power control. In this case, system increases the power of the subscriber when its interference increases in order to satisfy the requested signal qualities. However, when the requested signal qualities are infeasible, the power control algorithms might diverge as a result of power limitation. Another way to mitigate multipath problems is using diversity techniques. Space-time diversity offers an advantage in the forward link of the WCDMA system. In this paper, three environments for forward link power control, together with space-time diversity, are examined. These are indoor office, indoor-outdoor pedestrian and vehicular environments. The simulator takes into account 19 hexagonal cells with spatially uniform user distribution and a propagation channel characterized by distance attenuation, fast Rayleigh fading and inter-cell interference. Computer simulations are given to evaluate the effect of   space-time diversity on convergence of downlink power control algorithms. Simulation results show that space-time diversity together with downlink power control have very good performance, especially in the vehicular environments with high mobile speed

The Key Role of Information Security in E-Commerce

    No full text
Information security is one of the most important enterprise assets. For any organization, information is valuable and should be appropriately protected. Also, security is to combine systems, operations, and internal controls to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of data and operation procedures in an organization. Knowing the fact that with serious threat of unauthorized users on the Internet, information security is facing unprecedented challenges, and effective information security management is one of the major concerns. Moreover, the field of computer and information security focuses on designing measures that can enforce security policies, especially in the presence of malicious attack. On the other hand, security in E-commerce generally, employs procedures such as authentication, ensuring confidentiality, and use of cryptography to communicate over an open system. In this paper, we will discuss the security in cyberspace and recommend some suggestion for application of security in e-commerce

Structural Investigation of Websites’ Ranking Systems in view of Information Retrieval

    Get PDF
For years, search engines have been considered as one of the most frequently used information seeking tools through the web. Efficiency, ease of use andsearch quality are the main factors for giving precedence over search engines. Search quality is assessed based on the concept of page rank whichis applied to scoring web documents. The structures designed for linkage among the pages of a site as well as the linkage structure among the sitesinside a web are known as the most effective factor on page rank. This paper is to describe the concept of ranking web pages and investigate the structureof inter-linkage of pages

    Examination of Cyber-criminal Behaviour

Cybercrime is the world’s biggest growth industry and is now costing an estimated €180 billion loss to organisations and individuals, every year. The creation of ‘virtual identities’ gives a greater anonymity to the activities of organised criminals. Today our commonwealth is protected by firewalls rather than firepower. This is an issue of global importance as new technology has provided a world of opportunity for criminals. As a consequence law enforcement agencies all over the world are struggling to cope. Therefore, today’s top priority is to use computer technology to fight computer crime

Designing the Conceptual Model of an Electronic Document Management System for the Institute of Technical and Vocational Higher Education

    No full text
This research discusses the process of designing a conceptual model for a new information system, i.e. Electronic Document Management System. The new system is designed for an educational institute (ITVHE) whose managers are the research population. The research methodology is based on structured analysis and design methodology (SSADM). In the end, the new system proposed using a data flow diagram (dfd), an entity relation diagram (erd) and functional decomposition diagram

The Study of Thesaural Relationships from a Semantic Point of View

Thesaurus is one, out of many, precious tool in information technology by which information specialists can optimize storage and retrieval of documents in scientific databases and on the web. In recent years, there has been a shift from thesaurus to ontology by downgrading thesaurus in favor of ontology. It is because thesaurus cannot meet the needs of information management because it cannot create a rich knowledge-based description of documents. It is claimed that the thesaural relationships are restricted and insufficient. The writers in this paper show that thesaural relationships are not inadequate and restricted as they are said to be but quite the opposite they cover all semantic relations and can increase the possibility of successful storage and retrieval of documents. This study shows that thesauri are semantically optimal and they cover all lexical relations; therefore, thesauri can continue as suitable tools for knowledge management

Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) Service: A Conceptual Paradigm

The study discusses the traditional and online procedures and outlines of SDI service. The paper has also taken an initiative to formulate an exact matching technique between user’s subject interest and document profile with exploration along with electronic delivery of voluminous information technique. It also discusses some standard features and model of user profile. Finally, the paper explores some possible requirements for performing online ‘SDI’ service
