Revitalization of the Yanagase shopping district through healthy foods utilizing local ingredients from Gifu
In this study, Gifu City Senior Citizen Resources Center cooperated with Gifu City Women's College. Healthy cookies named "Popeye Daisuki Cookie" were made at the college and were distributed for free at a shop called "Silver Yanagase Salon" in the Yanagase shopping district. In these cookies, vitamin A and potassium were more abundant than regular cookies, and there was less sodium and fewer calories. On a survey, nearly 84% of people who tried the cookie were satisfied with the taste and the texture of the cookie. Study on food education at kindergarten
The objective of this study was to ascertain the current dietary habits of kindergarteners and the dietary awareness of their guardians and design effective food education that can be implemented in kindergartens and at home. Food education check sheet was used to assess dietary habits at home over several days. The results clarified that both the average scores and the degree of implementation of food education at home were high. One of the reasons was that the guardians were highly motivated and had a high level of trust in the kindergartens. Research on the lifestyle of women college students: compared with the nutritional intake and the life status
The purpose of this study is grasped the current state of the nutrition intake and considered whether it was different in the nutrition intake depending on the life status. A total of 65 women college students (age 19-20 years old) . The nutrients were calculated energy, protein, fat, carbohydrates, calcium and iron. A result, the nutriment intake, energy 1487±380kcal,protein 52.3 ± 15.0g,fat 45.9±24.8g,carbohydrates 223.3±74.3g,calcium 326.5±159.1mg,iron 5.3±2.2 mg. By all nutriment by which a statistical significance wasn't between the student in a home and the student of boarding. Only a protein was 104.7% in rate, but the others were low. Animistic expressions in Dickens's novels
We come to notice one thing about the English expressions, when reading Dickens's novels. That is, things are sometimes depicted as if they were human beings. This kind of expression is what we call animistic expressions.The aim of this paper is to focus on the functions of some of animistic expressions in Dickens's novels, Oliver Twist, Martin Chuzzlewit, David Copperfield, A Tale of Two Cities and Great Expectations. As a result of the consideration of animistic expressions, we can say that they are not mere rhetoric, but effective expressions for portraying the uneasy state of mind of a child, and for depicting the oppressed and frightened state of mind of an adult.We come to notice one thing about the English expressions, when reading Dickens's novels. Theory and practice for small-scale e-Learning system in college English instruction
The authors have been trying to improve the college students' working knowledge of English as well as English communication ability using e-Learning system since late 1990's when e-Learning system of universities and companies of the United States was dominant and influential over the instructional world of information technology. Influenced by their elaborate theory and practice, we developed computer software for learning English vocabulary which supported easy handling for beginning students in the first stage. Secondly, in order to strengthen their English proficiency, we composed computer software on the web to support English grammar skill. Thirdly, we made an electronic message board system called "Cross Culture Forum" on the web, which enabled our students to communicate with foreign students (Thomas More College in U.S.A. and Kings High School in New Zealand) through the Internet. In the fourth stage, in the process of creating digital contents, we built digital database for haiga-picture (seasonal poem-picture of Japan) and searching system on the website. The dyeing characteristics of some tree and their branches of our campus planting (part 1) The dyeing trees characteristics of bayberry
Nine years have passed since our campus moved to Hitoichiba from Nagara. On our campus, silk trees, Japanese pagoda trees, cherry trees, bayberrys and other dozens of kinds of trees are planed. It presents, so to speak, "a campus with full of trees". As for as bayberry, description about the dyeing technique of branch and trunks are reported.But description about that of bayberry is not reported. Therefore I examined practical use of this as dyeing color materials. First I clarified the kinds of the fiber were dyed by bayberry. The silk was dyed very well. However, the synthetic fiber(polyester, acrylic etc.) was not dyed at all. Next I examined the influence by dyeing temperature for bayberry. It was dyed better at low temperature. It was clear that it was dyed better with a longer dyeing time. I evaluated the consumption characteristics (tests for colorfastness to light, to rubbing and to hot pressing ) of silk.
