The development of a new sweet potato muffin named "Sanshoku Satsu Muffin" for senior citizens
Get PDFA healthy new kind of muffin made from sweet potatoes named "Sanshoku Satsu Muffin" was made at Gifu City Women's College. An investigation was carried out to learn people's reactions toward these muffins. Senior citizens were surveyed at a shop called "Silver Yanagase Salon" and at an exhibition of products. In the survey, nearly 88% of the people who tried the muffins were satisfied with their taste, and nearly 93% were satisfied with the texture. Comparative religious views: Japan and Polynesia
No full textThe Japanese are believed to have a unique religious culture. But it is not only the Japanese that believe in varied gods and spirits. The Polynesians including native Hawaiians share similar religious attitudes with the Japanese. To be concrete, the Japanese and the Pacific islanders distinguish themselves from other humanity in that they respectively believe in man-gods and think some objects, either natural and artificial, divine. Such a religious attitude is considered to be the archaic psychological trait that human beings once universally held toward the dead and anything mysterious around us.The Japanese are believed to have a unique religious culture. The interaction between the springboard and the gymnast's body
Get PDFIn the gymnastic vault, an elastic spring board is used for take-off after approach run. The aims of this study were to investigate interaction between springboard and gymnast's body during take-off motion. The leg spring in the gymnastic vault was stiffer than those observed in other take-off motions with approach run (the long jump and vertical jump with approach run). Ferris and Farley (1997), though they used a hopping motion on the elastic surface, suggested that larger leg stiffness reduce the muscle work thereby saving the energy cost. Arampatzis et al. (2001) also showed that an increase in leg stiffness induced an effective re-use of the store energy in a sprung surface. It can be assumed that large leg stiffness during the take-off in the gymnastic vault enhances the elastic energy storage of the springboard and reduce the absorbed energy by the eccentric contraction of muscles.In the gymnastic vault, an elastic spring board is used for take-off after approach run. Studies on the nutrition education of university athletes
No full textIn this study, we evaluated the effects of the nutrition education using a stage of behavior modification model for the dietary habits of athletes. A dietary survey and nutritional education were conducted on 21 male American football players. The amounts of energy and each nutrient, which they took, were calculated before and after this study. Increases in scales for stage of behavior modification were observed in 57% of subject, and all subject expressed an interest in nutrition intake. The Emperor and Empress were present at this opening ceremony on that day. To carry out this project, our college offered cooperation as follows. To add dramatic effect to the ceremony, 1,500 handkerchiefs dyed with indigo were shaken by the people of Gifu Pref. Yamarin dyeing classes had been held for the people of Gifu Pref.. About 500 handkerchiefs were dyed with indigo in each class. Three classes had been held in April and May. The handkerchiefs had been dyed into three different colors; deep blue, light blue and blue between deep and light. All the participants shook the handkerchiefs dyed with indigo at the opening ceremony on June 13 and their performance gave the dramatic effect to the ceremony. Later, the testimonial in honor was given to our college by the chairman of this convention, who is Gifu Pref. Governor. The relation between electronic books and artist's books
Get PDFRecently all kinds of information devices like iPad or electronic books have spread rapidly and there is a great fear for the existence of paper books. Artist's books which allow people to plan, design, edit and also publish them themselves have spread. With this in mind, I researched many art works at the Fleet Library of the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, U.S.A. and analyzed the definition of artist's books and the reasons why people focus on them. There are eternal possibilities as 'books' to leave records, make history and convey information. However 'art works' convey it the concept or message of the artists and 'the media' to give people a spatial experiences. A reading of New Cultural Studies: reflecting on theoretical aspects of cultural studies
Get PDFThis essay is concerned with a practice of reading a book with radical agendas, titled New Cultural Studies, which attempts to address a question in relation to the position of 'theory' in cultural studies. Today, there seems to be a call for more immediate visible achievements or results among government, industry and academia. The contemporary situation leads to an atmosphere of a disregard of more abstract and reflective thinking, which means the decline of theory in the academic world, let alone in cultural studies. Over the past two decades, theory or philosophical thought has been exposed to the transformation of its surroundings, including the rise of neoliberal economy, serious terrorist attacks, many deaths of leading theorists, etc. Under the current tide of globalization, we seem to be forced into paralyzed way of thought process, not realizing how we should proceed in the field of cultural studies. Studies on the materials of processed foods effects of red pepper on the formation of Konnyaku

Japanese "Konnyaku" is an elastic solid, this paste which made from the arum root of potatoes called as Konnyaku Imo is congealed by calcium hydroxide. Red pepper is a hot seasoning, it has been expected to be a healthful food by recent studies. When red pepper was added to paste made from the arum root, the elasticity of paste was low and hard to solidify. By addition of red pepper, the gel strength was decreased. The hardness in the formation of konnyaku had no connection with the pungent taste, salty and PH. Red pepper made in Korea among other kinds of red pepper was not so hot and bright red, but it was the most loosely in the formation of Konnyaku. Glucomannan was a main ingredient of Konnyaku, it was very important for the gelation of konnyaku. in order to hinder its from solidifying. It was suggested that the gelation of glucomannan were hindered by the strong affinity of some ingredients except capsaicin involved in Korean red pepper.Some processed foods are necessary for our dining table. A study about chart: a consideration for education system about communication design

Communications are exchange of information by using the text, figure, the image, and the sound, etc.When we communicate to other people,we think and devise the method for imparting information. The author thinks that we should improve an educational system in Japan to raise the ability of the communication. Especially, an educational system about diagram representation is more insufficient. As part of the design education, the author thought about construction of educational system of how to treat diagram. So the author studied about the basic-elements of chart. As the result, the author introduced nine parameters concerning the chart. And, the author considered some points about the educational system for the production of the chart.
