Improvement in knowledge on cutting skills among junior college students
Get PDFTests for 12 basic culinary cutting ways were given to 195 female junior college students who entered the college in 2009, 2010 and 2011. We studied the effect of taking cooking classes by comparing students' correct answer rate for the tests. Tests were done before and after taking cooking classes. One point was given to each correct answer, making the full-score 12 points. The average scores before and after taking cooking classes were 7.8 points and 11.0 points, the correct answer rates being 64.9% and 91.4%, respectively. Knowledge on all cutting ways except on fine chopping improved after they took cooking classes. It was found that some students had difficulty in distinguishing some cutting ways. However, as seen in the result of the tests, the correct answer rate became higher after students took cooking classes, indicating a positive effect of taking cooking classes.departmental bulletin pape

His nephew Fred is, unlike Scrooge, very friendly to everyone. Fred thinks that Christmas is a good time when people open their shut-up hearts freely and enjoy themselves. Words such as "kind," "forgiving," "charitable" and "pleasant" uttered by Fred produce the spirit of Christmas to which he is faithful.Scrooge has been living his life in an extremely selfish way. He lacks the spirit of Christmas and annoys others around him. So, he is depicted critically in the story. Design of the schematic image about "SASASHIMA urban planning"
Get PDFVisualization is very effective to understand information, to take communication, and so on. And visualization is utilized in various scenes of our life. By visualizing, we can reproduce the lost object in the history. Moreover, we can express concretely the image that does not exist yet now. It is an image sketch in a design work, for example. In recent years, the cases that use computer to visualize are increasing. I participated in the proposal project that is called "SASASHIMA urban planning". And I designed a schematic image of proposal plan by using computer. I considered about the advantage by using computer graphics to design studies.Visualization is very effective to understand information, to take communication, and so on. An Agenda for Communication Studies : A Dialogical Reading of The Twilight of Common Dreams
Get PDFThe main purpose of this paper is to raise a point for discussion of communication studies by critically reading Todd Gitlin's argument, that is, the claim that we should build a common ground so that we can solve the dangerous situation called "cultural wars." We assume that the common ground Gitlin proposes is not only a space where we can pursue the ideal of a calm discussion between conflicting parties, but also a place in which we can nullify the claims of both sides enslaved by a dichotomic way of thinking. The first process of discussion is that we attempt to reveal the relationships between the Enlightenment and a monologic principle, referring to Horkheimer & Adorno and Mikhail Bakhtin. Relationship between osteo sono-assessment index (OSI) and lifestyle in woman
Get PDFThe effects of lifestyle in the prevention of osteoporosis were examined through analysis of factors related to bone mass in women. A questionnaire survey on eating habits and daily physical activity was administered to 173 women (age, 18-79 years) in Gifu City. Osteo-sono assessment index (OSI) was determined using an ultrasound bone evaluation device that measures the speed of sound (SOS) and transmission index (TI) as ultrasound passes through the calcaneus; OSI was calculated as TI × SOS2. Body mass index (BMI), age and frequency of exercise were shown to influence OSI. Making Process of Clothing for Gifu Mothers Collection and the Curriculum
Get PDFFor the second fashion show, "Gifu Mothers Collection, we use usual classes for researching fashion trends of this year, making mapping board and drawing fashion illustrations from June to July. But as for the pattern making and constructing works, students started their works during summer break. This project was carried out by the 2nd grade students of fashion design and business courses under the leadership of professors of the department. Before beginning of the project they studied about the textile materials, names, characteristic properties and use, basic pattern making and sewing techniques for some clothing items. Thus this project was a good opportunity to connect their knowledge about materials, patterns and sewing for their own design. A Study of Clothing Life from the Research on the Clothes of Elderly and Young People
Get PDFThe purpose of this paper is to produce "comfortable clothes" for a comfortable clothing life. I focus on both elderly and young people to make a study of their clothing life by investigating their fashion sense, physical features, taste in dress, and the tendency of purchase in addition to their opinions and requests.It is important to suggest comfortable clothes for each age and produce or reform clothes which can cover their physical changes with age and make them look beautiful. Since we should regard their physical changes with age as their personality, it is necessary to produce adjustable clothes. We need companies and various volunteers to support them under any situations.The purpose of this paper is to produce "comfortable clothes" for a comfortable clothing life. Surveillance of Hygiene Management at Jointly-used School Meal Preparation Facility of Gifu City
Get PDFEducation in hygiene management has been reported to be more effective with continuous training and presentation of numerical results of rapid hygiene tests. We conducted surveillance of hygiene management, for the first time, at a jointly-used school meal preparation facility of Gifu City, which started its full operation this year (2011). Objects including cookware, doors and cooking staff's fingers were examined using the ATP swab test (19 objects), the stamp culture method (6 objects) and the wipe test (8 objects). The results were satisfactory in every object. Then, we gave the facility staff further instruction on providing safer school meals referring to these results. The Stream of Hemingway Literature : Person and Works
Get PDFErnest Hemingway (1899-1961) is one of the most significant American writers in the first half of the twentieth century. This paper treats the historical background and the first stage of personal history of Hemingway in the first chapter. In the second through seventh chapter, we analyze the stream of Hemingway's main works, such as In Our Time (1925), The Sun Also Rises (1926), A Farewell to Arms (1929), Death in the Afternoon (1932), To Have and Have Not (1936), The Snows of Kilimanjaro (1936), For Whom the Bell Tolls (1939), The Old Man and the Sea (1952).
