No full textWhen we create a low carbon city, we have to save the energy (Released fron /generated in ) buildings. Soil walls have a possibility for the energy saving. Among soil walls, this report particularly focuses on the rammed earth. Ramming earth can be developed with the traditional technique. Because of it, not only professional people but also non-professional can participate in the process of constructions. Actual Condition of Usage of Interior Accessory in College Students ' Room and Consciousness of User
Get PDFA questionnaire survey was conducted among college students to know how they use and evaluate interior accessories. About 70 percent of the students placed the interior products to decorate their room rather than to use them. They used interior accessories such as "stuffed animal" and "poster" to decorate their room. They evaluated interior accessory positively, because it made their room favorite space and it made them relaxed, while they recognized as a demerit "interior accessories make the room hard to clean." It was showed that the students also recognized it as living environment being important to the healthy life. It was suggested that the students expected that the comfortableness of living environment would be improved by placing interior accessories. These results suggest that interior accessories may raise the degree of satisfaction to living for environment.departmental bulletin pape

Association between respiratory function and bone mineral density in Japanese men
Get PDFThe aim of this cross-sectional study was to investigate the association between respiratory function and bone mineral density (BMD). The study included 146 male subjects, aged 60.0 ± 11.5 years (mean ± standard deviation) who underwent spirometric lung function and BMD tests at a medical check-up. Forced vital capacity (FVC), %FVC, forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1), FEV1%predicted, andFEV1/FVCwere measured in respiratory function tests. BMD was measured in the non-dominant radius by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. In multiple linear regression analyses that included age, BMI, pack-years, alcohol intake, and physical activity as covariates, FVCwas positively associated with BMD and negatively associated with age and BMI, %FVC was positively associated with BMD and negatively associated with BMI, and FEV1was positively associated with BMD and negatively associated with age, BMI and pack-years. Effect of workers' recognition of the interior plant on space evaluation
Get PDFWe made a laboratory experiment to discuss the effect of workers' recognition of the interior plant on space evaluation. We compared space evaluation and mood of the subjects who did not regard as the subjects who looked at the plant during the experiment. As a result, the visual confirmation affected space evaluation, while it did not influence the subject's feeling. An order of installing a plant also affected the impression over space. It was suggested that subject's recognition to a plant was related to psychological influence of plant. These results suggested that the approach from the viewpoint of cognitive psychology might be effective in the elucidation of the mechanism of the influence which a plant had on people's psychology.departmental bulletin pape
Case method and effective use of "leaves of indigo" from the educational perspective.
Get PDFThere are many kinds of indigo, such as indigo, woad and so on. Among them, indigos are planted much in Japan. In general we can bring up indigo very easily.My students and I planted indigo and harvested the leaves. We tried three different dyeing methods with these leaves. First I tried "tatakizome" bashing methods of dyeing. Second we tried the method with juice produced by crushed leaves. Third we tried the method with thoroughly dyed leaves padding some chemicals. I found that cloth was well dyed in each way. And each method does not require any advanced special equipments. It was obvious that they have a number of advantages, such as safe, easy and clean procedure.departmental bulletin pape
