Significance of Short-term Study Abroad Program and Future Issues from Post-Questionnaire Surveys
This article examines the significance and future considerations of a short-term study abroad program based on the analysis of questionnaire surveys conducted one and three months after the program. Analyses of the surveys reveals a decline in students’ motivation to study English over time, and a gradual waning of their interests for a trip or a study abroad. Regarding college lectures, over 90% of respondents expressed a heightened interest in “U.S. society, history, and cultures” compared to their pre-program levels. Finally, this article reviews what the short-term study abroad program should be to develop “Global human resources.” The study highlights the importance of continually enhancing learning effectiveness by integrating this program with other curricula or by offering preparatory and follow-up instruction courses.departmental bulletin pape
A series of e-newsletters to aid poster appreciation Community-based NPOs To restore the art museum to what it should be
Approved NPO Ogaki Poster Museum, Japan began working as an executive committee in 1988. It is made up of sponsorship from Ogaki businesses, volunteers from the citizens and cooperation from graphic designers from all over the world. However, the lack of increased visibility and audience numbers is a problem. Therefore, I undertook this research in order to make a meaningful connection with an audience that loves posters. The idea is to publish a series of e-newsletters explaining our origins - the "Polish Poster". After a year of serialisation, a questionnaire showed that the series had increased interest in Polish posters and audience satisfaction.departmental bulletin pape
Utilizing Authentic Texts in the Conversation Classroom
The use of appropriate authentic materials can be highly motivational for students in carrying out meaningful tasks in the foreign language classroom. In addition, such materials provide valuable exposure to real-world language models which, while potentially challenging, nevertheless give language learners useful models that can prepare them to communicate outside of the classroom. The practical classroom activities outlined below give several examples of how, over multiple lessons, students interacted with various types of authentic texts to create extended output in the target language. Suggestions for further uses of authentic materials are also provided.departmental bulletin pape
