Introduction of a Learning Portfolio and its Future Issues

    Get PDF
This paper describes the development of a learning portfolio project introduced in 2023 and discusses its future issues. Compared to learning e-portfolios used by many universities, our learning portfolio is unique in that it is not Web-managed but it uses Excel as the platform. The effectiveness of our originally developed portfolio data collection system will be verified through a comparison with that of e-portfolios used at other universities. A student questionnaire conducted on the trial version will also be analyzed. Furthermore, it is argued that in the future, it will be necessary to include a digital collection of each student's work, evaluate each subject, and improve the quality of interviews by advisory teachers.departmental bulletin pape

Recently, cooking knowledge and skills of junior college students have been decreasing. Therefore, a questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate cooking knowledge and skills of students and when they acquired them by taking cooking classes, and to obtain basic data regarding cooking levels for the students. The survey consisted of 33 questions. The respondents were 254 female freshmen in junior college from 2015 to 2018. They enrolled at a nutritionist training facility and took cooking classes in the first semester of their studies. It was found that more than 70% of students responded that they learned cooking knowledge and skills by taking cooking classes, indicating their cooking knowledge and skills increased by taking cooking classes. However, some knowledge and skills have not been acquired. Then, a method of teaching should be thought out to increase their knowledge and skills.departmental bulletin pape

    Get PDF
We conducted a survey of dietary behavior among students in the Department of Food and Nutrition of our college in order to explore the effective use of dietary guidance for young women using the nutrition-education satisfactory “à la carte” tray (SAT) system. The nutrition-education SAT system is an easy and approachable way to assess diets, and adopting it as a teaching material may enhance the effectiveness of dietary guidance in raising awareness of food choices among young women entering the child-bearing years.Based on the results of this study, there seems to be a need to provide constant dietary education programs that are applicable to eating habits in daily life, which can be done using the nutrition-education SAT system, to give effective dietary guidance for young women.departmental bulletin pape

    Online Support in Face-to-Face Classrooms

    Get PDF
The effort that many instructors put into teaching online courses due to the Covid pandemic resulted in discovering new ways to adapt instructional materials and as well as manage classes online. What was for many instructors a steep learning curve need not go to waste now that the height of the pandemic has subsided. Many of the tools and techniques that were implemented were found to be not only effective adaptations of paper-based materials and person-to-person interactions, but many of them still can be beneficial in courses which have mainly returned to the traditional classroom learning environment. The current paper reports on various ways that the author has found to continue to use an online learning platform in face-to-face English conversation courses.departmental bulletin pape
