The Influence of Fanaticism and Religiosity on Verbal Aggressive Behavior Among K-Pop Fans
This study aims to examine the influence of fanaticism and religiosity on verbal aggression among K-pop fans, particularly EXO-L fans in Medan City. A quantitative survey approach was used, involving 55 respondents as the research sample. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed with SPSS version 25 to assess the relationships between fanaticism (X1), religiosity (X2), and verbal aggression (Y). The results indicate that fanaticism has a significant correlation with verbal aggression, with a correlation coefficient of 0.508, while religiosity also shows a significant correlation with a coefficient of 0.550. Furthermore, a significant combined relationship was found between fanaticism and religiosity with verbal aggression, with a correlation coefficient of 0.685. This study concludes that fanaticism toward K-pop idols can drive aggressive behaviors, including verbal aggression, especially when idols or fan communities are perceived as being attacked. Religiosity, on the other hand, has a dual role: it can mitigate aggression through spiritual self-control or trigger aggression when religious values are perceived to be threatened by K-pop culture
Strengthening Religious Harmony through the Principle of the Middle Way in Indonesian Buddhism
This research aims to examine the principles of moderation in Buddhism and their application in the context of inter-religious harmony in Indonesia. The methodology used in this research is a religious approach using the Library Research method, included in the qualitative research category which collects data from primary and secondary sources. The analysis carried out is descriptive analytical, aiming to interpret existing conditions. The findings of this research indicate that Buddhist teachings, which emphasize universal love, dialogue, deliberation, and the concept of the middle way, are a very important foundation for creating religious harmony. This concept firmly rejects extremism and encourages transformation towards salvation through the practice of simplicity. However, there are significant challenges in implementing moderation in inter-religious dialogue, such as reluctance from some religious groups, emotional conflicts, and limitations in verbal communication. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to non-verbal aspects of communication and involve all parties to create an environment conducive to constructive dialogue. With sustainable understanding and practice, it is hoped that harmony and peace can be built amidst the diversity of religions and belief
Religious Trauma Syndrome (RTS): Examining the Origins of Trauma in Religious Practice and Pathways to Recovery
Religious Trauma Syndrome (RTS) has gained increasing scholarly and clinical attention as reports of psychological and spiritual distress linked to religious environments emerge across diverse contexts worldwide. Introduced by Marlene Winell, RTS refers to symptoms such as guilt, shame, fear of divine punishment, anxiety, and depression that persist beyond the individual’s departure from a religious community. This study seeks to examine the root causes of RTS through a qualitative library research approach, drawing on Winell’s work and recent studies within the past five years. Findings suggest that trauma is more often generated by the interpretation and enforcement of doctrine rather than by religious teachings themselves. Four major contributing factors were identified: pathological altruism, spiritual abuse, fear-inducing dogmatism, and exclusive community pressure. By distinguishing religion as a value system from harmful practices, this study contributes theoretically to the conceptual understanding of RTS and practically to therapeutic, educational, and communal strategies for creating spiritually safe environments
Religious Tolerance in Islam and Hinduism: A Comparative Analysis of the Holy Qur’an and the Vedas
This article considers the importance of religious tolerance especially in Islam and Hinduism amid religious conflicts and social tensions that often arise as a result of miscommunication with other religious teachings, especially in pluralistic societies such as Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to examine the concepts of religious tolerance taught in Islam and Hinduism through analysis of the holy scriptures of the Qur 'an and Veda. From qualitative methods with comparative approach and literature studies, this study shows that Islam and Hinduism both emphasize the importance of honoring differences, justice, and harmony in a common life. However, there is a difference in the theological approach, where Islam emphasis more on constancy, while Hinduism is more inclusive of its various spiritual pathways. It is hoped that the study can strengthen cross-religious understanding, enhance interfaith dialogue, and promote harmonious and peaceful social harmony
Religious Pluralism and Tolerance in Sibolga: Challenges and Solutions in a Multicultural Society
Sibolga is a coastal city in Indonesia characterized by high ethnic and religious diversity, shaped by a long history of trade, migration, and cultural exchange. This study aims to examine how religious pluralism is managed and the challenges of tolerance in a multicultural society. Using a qualitative method through literature review and interviews, the research identifies two main realities: the potential for harmony through values of mutual cooperation, deliberation, and the local motto “berbilang kaum, satu tujuan” (“many groups, one goal”), as well as vulnerabilities caused by issues of ethnicity and religion (SARA), radicalism, economic inequality, and the politicization of religion. The findings highlight four strategies for strengthening tolerance: multicultural education, structured interfaith dialogue, the role of local leaders as mediators, and the revitalization of cultural values. The novelty of this research lies in its emphasis on solutions grounded in the social practices of Sibolga’s community, making it an adaptive model with potential for replication in other multicultural regions of Indonesia
A Textual Analysis of Imam Al-Baijuri’s Aswaja Theology: Doctrinal Reasoning in Two Primary Works
This article offers a textual analysis of Imam Ibrāhīm al-Baijūrī al-Shāfiʿī’s Aswaja theology through close reading of two widely studied creedal works, Ḥāshiyah Kifāyah al-ʿAwām and Tuḥfat al-Murīd ʿalā Jawharat al-Tawḥīd. Positioned within the intellectual milieu of al-Azhar and post-classical Sunni kalām, the study first outlines al-Baijūrī’s scholarly profile and the basic conceptual foundations of Aswaja theology to clarify the doctrinal context in which his arguments operate. Methodologically, the research employs a qualitative descriptive–analytical library design and applies a structured textual coding procedure, using argumentative passages, technical terms, and chains of doctrinal reasoning as units of analysis. The discussion highlights how al-Baijūrī maintains an evidentiary balance between revelation (naql) and reason (ʿaql), assigning rational inquiry a bounded explanatory function without granting it autonomous authority over scriptural certainty. Three doctrinal loci receive focused analysis: (1) Ahl al-Fatrah, where definitive Qur’anic principles (qaṭʿī) guide the interpretation of speculative reports (ẓannī), supporting a restrained posture toward takfīr grounded in divine justice; (2) debates on the Qur’an as Kalāmullāh al-Qadīm, where the distinction between kalām nafsī and kalām lafẓī is used to reject both Muʿtazilite creationism and anthropomorphic literalism; and (3) the pedagogical articulation of divine and prophetic attributes (including the scheme of the “fifty attributes”), which connects doctrinal clarity to ethical orientation. The article concludes that al-Baijūrī’s Aswaja reasoning is characterized by conceptual precision and a consistent hierarchy of proofs, which helps explain why his thought is frequently associated with doctrinal moderation in later discourse
THE QUALITY OF PRE-SERVICE PRIMARY TEACHER'S 21ST CENTURY SKILLS-BASED ETNO QUR'ANIC STEM E-MODULE THROUGH AN ALESSI AND TROLLIP MODEL
Technological challenges in the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0 in the educational sector require higher human resources to prepare the competencies of the next generations and be able to follow the development of teaching materials that still consider regional culture by using technology. In facing these challenges, this study aims to generate the design of an Ethno Qur'anic STEM-based E-module as teaching materials in the concept of Science, which is able to integrate and interconnect Islamic values, local Acehnese wisdom, and technological science, which are appropriate and practical for prospective elementary school teachers so that they are able to compete in this 21st century. The type of this study was Research and development with Alessi and Trollip development model design. The development steps were: (1) planning; (2) design; and (3) development. Data analysis used the alpha test as a validity assessment, which showed the feasibility of e-module development, and the beta test as the assessment of e-module practicality. The results obtained based on the assessment of media, material, and Al-Quran experts showed that the Ethno Qur'anic STEM-based E-module is really feasible with a value of 86.63% and really practical with a value of 88.87% to be used by teachers in the learning process of the concept of Science in elementary school. This paper is expected to contribute positively to improving the quality of education for prospective elementary school teachers by developing a learning module that is innovative and relevant to the needs of the time
INTEGRATING THE MERDEKA CAMPUS PROGRAM INTO ISLAMIC UNIVERSITIES IN INDONESIA: A STUDY OF IMPLEMENTATION AND IMPACT ON ISLAMIC SCIENCES
Indonesia's development vision, as outlined in the 2019–2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJM), is directed toward achieving quality education. In line with this vision, all educational institutions are expected to uphold high standards in order to realize excellence in education. This vision aligns with the policy direction initiated by the Ministry of Education and Culture through the "Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka" (MBKM) policy. The MBKM program refers to Ministerial Decree No. 74, as detailed in the official MBKM guidebook, which serves as a foundational reference for all educational programs and learning activities aimed at advancing higher education institutions. This paper examines the implementation of the "Merdeka Campus" program at three Islamic universities: UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh, UIN Sumatera Utara Medan, and UIN Imam Bonjol Padang, using a qualitative approach. The findings indicate that the three universities have developed MBKM guidelines. In general, the implementation is still in the early stages, focused primarily on socialization efforts and workshops for university leaders and academic departments. Several specific MBKM activities have been carried out, although not yet to their full potential. Program implementation has also encountered obstacles, largely due to unresolved discussions among policymakers and relevant stakeholders. Nevertheless, the implications of the MBKM program for the development of Islamic sciences are considerable, as these fields are central to the identity and advancement of Islamic higher education institutions
