Carlo Lorenzini e la pedagogia illuminista
This essay analyses several writings of Carlo Lorenzini, published on jour-nals, newspapers and collections, reconstructing the enlightened pedagogical principles applied in composing his masterpiece, The Adventures of Pinoc-chio, and also his assumptions in regard the path of history and the role of education in the bettering of society. The process of humanization of Pinoc-chio will also be represented as the experience of all children, aged eight to twelve, on the verge of adulthood in the land of freedom of choice and moral-ity building. Lastly, the work of Lorenzini will be contextualised in the his-tory of Tuscany in the decades of Italy’s unification, showing the disap-pointment of Lorenzini with the results of the institutionalisation process of the new state, harming the freedom of its citizen, not least by imposing bourgeois values through compulsory education
Educazione e persona. Prospettive pedagogiche tra ricerca di senso e nuovo umanesimo
The person takes form in a unique and unrepeatable way combining his developmental potential with the circumstances of existence. During this process, He is continually inclined towards the relationship with the other. Education, in all its forms, is today a real human and social need, it is an inescapable paradigm for reconnecting man to himself by orienting him towards paths of existential awareness and authenticity, it is, also, a paradigm capable of renewing society from within through ethical projects aimed at the common good
La valutazione monetaria dei servizi ecosistemici marini: un’indagine sulle trezze nell’Alto Adriatico e i Millennials
The aim of this paper is to explore the monetary value of marine ecosystem services provided by coralligenous habitats in the Adriatic sea. The paper describes the development of a contingent valuation survey and examines the perspective of Millennials. Even if this group of citizens presents environmental attitudes, external factors and individual characteristics may prevent effective environmental friendly behaviour. Prior academic research regarding monetary evaluation of coralligenous habitats has not focused on Millennials behaviour. We carried out the survey to a sample of 897 Italian students. The findings will be of interest to academic researchers, to institutional decision makers, and to people in general who are concerned with marine ecosystem services. This study encourages future empirical researches trying to refine and apply the finding to support decision makers in identifying management alternatives
Principles of Quoting the Holy Scriptures in Works by 17th Century Ukrainian Authors: Approaching the Issue
Ukrainian attitudes towards the holy scriptures, and the ways in which they were quoted and referred to, indicate the specificity of the Ukrainian intellectual culture and the range of freedom that this culture set as a frame for its own development. The Bible quotations used in the selected 17th century texts in Old Ukrainian (prosta mova) and Church Slavonic show that the scriptures were treated by Ukrainian religious intellectuals as the most authoritative source for legitimizing new ideas and concepts which were adopted from the texts of non-Orthodox authors and were to be integrated in the Orthodox theological discourse. At the same time, the authors did not feel excessive reverence towards any of the printed versions of holy scriptures and admitted independent translations (from Latin, Church Slavonic, Polish) as well as the possibility of specifying meanings. What is most significant was the comparison of different codices of the scriptures in search of the one they considered most favorable for their goals. It is worth emphasizing that the Church Slavonic translation of the Bible served as one of the possible versions and not as a sacred literary canon. If needed it was quite acceptable to translate the holy scriptures into the Old Ukrainian literary language, based on vernacular practice and easily understood by ordinary lay believers.Ukrainian attitudes towards the holy scriptures, and the ways in which they were quoted and referred to, indicate the specificity of the Ukrainian intellectual culture and the range of freedom that this culture set as a frame for its own development. The ‘Demetrius Legend’ in Italy During the 17th Century
This article aims at giving an account of the reception, diffusion and literary elaboration of the ‘Demetrius legend’ in Italy during the seventeenth century. Its main focus is on the political and ideological background as well as the genre conventions which played a role in shaping the mythos of the Russian pretender. After considering the peculiarities of Maiolino Bisaccioni’s historical novel, the article focuses on two tragedies by two minor Italian playwrights, Bianco Bianchi and Giuseppe Teodoli. Notwithstanding their different treatments of the subject, both authors were confronted with a difficult task: how to justify the fall of their hero (the legitimate heir to the Muscovite throne). They opted for a similar dramatic device: at the turning point of the tragedy Demetrius is erroneously considered an impostor, then dethroned and put to death as a tyrant. Finally, his legitimacy is reasserted and he is celebrated as a martyr of the faith or pitied for his unfortunate destiny. Both tragedies were drawn from the Jesuit account of the myth, spread from Poland, and are modeled on the rules of classical tragedy. This article aims at giving an account of the reception, diffusion and literary elaboration of the ‘Demetrius legend’ in Italy during the seventeenth century. Olga Tokarczuk’s Anna In in the Tombs of the World: A Feminist Retelling of the Sumerian Myth of the Goddess Inanna
Rewriting mythological characters, tales and motifs is a popular strategy used in feminist literature from the late 20th century. Deconstructing sexist cultural canons, challenging gender normative narratives, subverting patriarchal values and offering new female perspectives are the main purposes. Within such a framework, the article analyzes the reinterpretation of the Sumerian myth of the goddess Inanna by one of Poland's most prominent writers. Olga Tokarczuk’s Anna In in the Tombs of the World employs such strategies as the modernization of the story, now set in a dystopian, high-tech and futuristic world; the introduction of a few, but significant, changes in the narrative structure, like the modification of the plot and the insertion of the figure of the Mother Goddess; the syncretic fusion of themes and topics belonging to different eras and cultures (Sumerian, Assyro-Babylonian, Classical Antiquity); and the redefinition of the psychological meanings underlying the descent of the goddess into the underworld. Ultimately, the writer carries out a deep resemantization and refunctionalization of the original Sumerian myth based on a feminist and Jungian approach. Published in the mid-2000s, the novel should be read as a critical voice in the context of the antifeminist backlash that took shape at that time in Polish politics and jeopardized feminist conquests gained to date.Rewriting mythological characters, tales and motifs is a popular strategy used in feminist literature from the late 20th century.
