Famiglie, bambini e insegnanti: verso un’idea integrata di educazione, di benessere e di sviluppo tra contesti
The paper presents a brief overview of the curricula of four European Countries which have long adopted an integrated model of education, having as a focus of deepening the topic of the relationship between educational services and families, between educators/teachers and parents. The holistic and integrated approach of education, well-being and child development expressed in these documents is the background and supports a complex and inclusive discursiveness towards the plurality of family histories and configurations, giving form to original and quality modes of cooperation, understanding and collaboration for educational contexts. The focus on some concepts and the lexical choices supporting them is considered useful to “project” us into a next integrated national curriculum, capable of expressing both a culture of continuity and change, and a real interdependence between contexts and subjects, which are relevant for child development
Le relazioni adulto-bambino negli album fotografici di famiglia: un’esperienza di Public History per formare alle professioni educative
The paper illustrates a training experience – and its reasons – aimed at implementing professional skills of Early Childhood Education and Care pedagogical coordinators. The paper is based on the belief that historical knowledge can be a valid tool for understanding family relationships, and for effectively facing current educational challenges. In the general context of the history of the family, the reconstruction of the intergenerational passages of one’s family allows to reflect on the short and long-term dynamics that are still present today. Moreover, it promote the awareness of the variety of ethnic, religious, and identity components, which are part of daily work with children and their families. The training activity have been carried out promoting the use of family pictures, their digitalisation, and commentary, according to Public History
Piazze Verdi. Spazio pubblico materiale e immateriale nella città italiana
Which functions, in the “Information Age”, can maintain the “Piazza”, the traditional locus of encounter and debate in the European Mediterranean city? The renewed vividness of the reactive movements against public projects of regeneration of squares in different Italian cities could be interpreted as a signal of a persisting strong link between public realm and urban public space. Starting from the exemplary intensely mediatized case of the restyling of Piazza Verdi in La Spezia, this article leads on the contrary to emphasize a recent involution in the national debate on urban public spaces; and proposes lines of analysis for an empirical assessment of the efficacy of these spaces in sustaining today civicness and right to the city
The anatomical representation of the human body: From epistemological examples deriving from medical history to morphometric imaging performed with the laser scanner technique
The anatomical illustration of the human body is a topic rich in epistemological elements in the course of medical history. Since ancient times concerns about the real correspondence of the scientific and/or artistic representation of human anatomy with the original one arose. First of all, a static two-dimensional representation, the one typical of drawings, was not able to get the depth and complexity of dynamic three-dimensional anatomical morphology. In addition, the epistemic issue that a post-mortem illustration could not somehow correspond to living structures was present even in the past. For a long time the anatomical representation of the human body has been attracting the interest of medical doctors, artists, scholars and philosophers as a fact-finding technique of dissection of corpses preparatory to curative surgical practice in the living body. With regard to that, in the Western world the sixteenth century is often seen as the golden age of normal and macroscopic human anatomy. Major steps in the evolution of the anatomical discipline are the switch from the “normal” to the “pathological” area during the seventeenth century and the transition from the macroscopic to the microscopic level in the eighteenth century; that is true also from an illustrative and iconographic point of view. The tradition of setting up three-dimensional models for the study of the human body dates back to the eighteenth century too. Today’s research techniques in the field of anatomical images are so advanced that they allow the full conformity of human representation, the continuous availability of preserved images, the complete multi-dimensionality of the rendering and the complete dynamism of the whole view. In this context, laser scanner could be the ideal tool to create a new Atlas of Human Anatomy composed of models which are rotatable, observable from every perspective, absolutely faithful to reality, analysable as in a real dissection and carefully measurable
A comparative study of placental morphometry in diabetic and normal mothers in a tertiary care hospital of West Bengal
Among the hundred cases ranging from 19-38 years, fifty placentae were from normal uncomplicated pregnancies and the rest from diabetic mothers. In case of normal pregnancies, the average (±standard deviation) placental weight, volume, thickness, diameter, area and circumference were 513.3 (±53.13) g; 437.4 (±59.8) cm3,1.79 (±0.24) cm, 17.5 (±1.52) cm, 242.19 (±40.21) cm2, 54.95 (±4.78) cm respectively. In case of diabetic mothers, the corresponding values were 579.2 (± 44.3) g, 503.9 (± 46.11) cm3, 2.45 (±0.49) cm, 17.56 (±1.57) cm, 243.96 (±41.41) cm2, 55.14 (±4.93) cm. The average birth weight of baby and foeto-placental ratio were 2.55 (±0.25) kg and 4.97(±0.5) respectively in normal cases and 3.42 ± 0.26 kg and 5.91 ± 0.33 respectively in cases of diabetic pregnancy. Among the different parameters the birth weight of baby was the best predictor of the placental morphometric parameters while body weight and age of mother were poor predictors
Xylella fastidiosa subsp. pauca on olive in Salento (Southern Italy): infected trees have low in planta micronutrient content
Xylella fastidiosa subsp. pauca is associated with the olive quick decline syndrome in Salento (Apulia region, Southern Italy). The first outbreak of the disease was noticed in the Gallipoli district, from where it subsequently reached nearby areas. To date, no specific study has verified if abnormal soil or leaf micronutrients is associated with the disease. Soil and leaf samples were taken from 23 olive farms showing symptoms of the syndrome located in Gallipoli and nearby areas. Each sample was analyzed for magnesium and micronutrients content using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy. Real-time PCR indicated that X. f. subsp. pauca was present in each sampled tree. There is a general lack of molybdenum in soil and low bioavailability of copper and molybdenum in tree leaves. Low content of manganese in soil was also found in some farms located in Gallipoli, Galatone and Trepuzzi. Olive trees grown in Gallipoli area also had low content of boron. Principal component analysis showed that soil and leaf samples from this area had lower micronutrient contents compared with other areas. General copper depletion in leaves was uncommon and has not been previously recorded in Italy in a large area. This could indicate that X. f. subsp. pauca infection causes a depletion of copper within olive leaves. Reduced copper content has been previously recorded in leaves infected with X. f. subsp. multiplex and for other bacterial pathogens. The role of copper in relation to X. fastidiosa infection is discussed
The Use of Organic Nano-Supplements of Fertilizer for Lily Forcing Period
Lilium is one of the most important ornamental plants after roses, carnations and chrysanthemum in the world that is requested as potted of cut flowers. It is so important to consider its quality along with its production rate in terms of yield (quantity). However, it always needs to intend the product costs aside from quantity and quality. Fertilizer utilization is so important and this may be improved by compounds that promote it and also have synergetic effects themselves. We examined both carboxymethylated chitosan (CMC) and magnetic nano-carbocymethylated chitosan (MNCC) to produce Lilium bulb and advised them especially magnetic chitosan. In this study, these compounds (magnetic and non-magnetic chitosan) at concentrations of zero, 2.5, 5, 10 and 15 mg/l were examined during lily forcing in three cultivars, including Cherbourg, Navona, Brunello, which are from Asiatic and Oriental lilies. The results showed that highest concentrations (10 and 15 mg/l) among between examined concentrations regardless of compounds types and cultivars did not make toxicity and had significant effects on plants biology and physiology [contents of carbohydrates and enzymes affecting these carbohydrates (amylases)]. However, for observing morphological changes may be need to use higher concentrations of these compounds. Note that this needs to examine the non-toxicity of higher concentrations in future studies
Analyzing research data on the use of L1 by teachers teaching non-linguistic subjects in a CLIL approach training context
The aim of this paper is to investigate teachers’ perspectives on the use of the mother tongue (L1) in a Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL ) teaching context by teachers of non-linguistic subjects from upper secondary schools in Tuscany, involved in a training course conducted by the Department of Education, Languages, Interculture, Literature and Psychology, at the University of Florence. A seven-point questionnaire with a Likert scale was prepared in order to collect data concerning the following research questions: i) how often should L1 be used in the CLIL learning context; ii) how important is it to use L1 for the management of individual teaching activities. The intention is to contribute to the academic debate that has recently developed within this field of research, since the preparation of teachers through in-service training is a key to the effectiveness and sustainability of a CLIL approach.
