The environmental sustainability is probably one of the most controversial topics of national policy agendas. The needs to combine economic growth and well-being, have forced governments to introduce tools for reducing CO2 emission and avoiding climate change. This paper aims to assess the effectiveness of these measures in the 1990-2014 period for a sample of 188 countries; and to analyze the determinants of CO2 in the 2000-2014 period for a sample of 175 countries. The results suggest that i) richest countries have a GDP elasticity of CO2 greater than that of poorest countries; and ii) GDP, energy consumption, urbanization, agricultural development, tourism and depletion of natural resources are directly correlated to CO2, while forest area, alternative energy, trade openness and FDI inflows are inversely related to CO2
Linguistic-functional Analysis of the Biblical Hebrew Lexemes ʿaṭarâ, keter and nezer
The article examines three Biblical Hebrew Lexemes. It exerts the method of semantic and structural analysis based on Eugenio Coseriu postulates. First it defines and explains the method used, then it realizes a distributional analysis and a classematic analysis of each lexeme. The second and the third phase proceed according to the functional language with the direct examination of each single occurrence. In the end it summarizes the achieved results. The structural analysis applied to the study of this three lexemes has allowed to develop some theories about the concept of kingship in the Biblical Hebrew and its development through functional languages.
From Phonological Rules to the Person Case Constraint. Monovalent vs. Bivalent Features in Grammar
In phonology, segmental content has been predominantly represented in terms of binary features. Although binary features may provide an elegant description of some segmental contrasts, it is far from clear that speaker/hearer’s knowledge about segments is organized in a binary way, as we illustrated with specific reference to vocalic alternations (metaphony etc.). The debate about binarity in phonology has a potential parallel in morphosyntax. While syntactic categories (N, V, v, T etc.) are monovalent, a model like Distributed Morphology depends on standard generative phonology for a number of formal properties, including the adoption of binary features. Thus 1st and 2nd persons are [+participant] while 3rd person is the absence of such properties, namely [-participant]. We argue that this is not the most economical set of assumptions, specifically in the explanation of the syntactic generalization known as the Person Case Constraint (PCC). For both phonology and morphology, we show that the inherent richness of binary features leads to formal and conceptual problems, such as the fact that atomic segments or lexical items have as complex a feature matrix as non-atomic ones
The paper investigates the artistic re-use of photographic archival materials and detects the morphological tangency between archive, phototext and artist’s book, highlighting the artist’s ethical responsibility towards History. We will take into consideration Mario Cresci’s photo-book In viaggio con Lauro Messori 1960-2016, in which such a storyboard is constructed on the basis of visual and textual documents produced by geologist Lauro Messori and currently held in the Eni Archive
Learning Society and Sustainable Development: adult education re-search that expands the territories
The field of adult education research has been and will continue to expand. In this process, one of the notable changes is that the units of research extend from individuals to collectives. Educational researches has traditionally studied an individual's learning and change as a unit of research. However, social change is difficult to account for in individual units, and most of the major changes, especially those involving social changes have been made through collective learning and changes beyond the individual level. The research fields that have grown in the area of adult education, such as organizational learning, community learning, expansive learning or team learning, started from this interest
Artificial intelligence and emotional intelligence, the contribution of women 4.0: training course of empowerment for women in Industry 4.0
Women’ empowerment in Industry 4.0 is the training pathway connected to women and Industry 4.0. The aim is to make women aware of the necessity to develop technological and digital knowledge as well as transversal competences in order for them to be active part of innovation processes in industry 4.0 era. The experience we report has been positive. It was focused on two strategic competences related to artificial intelligence and emotional intelligence. These were also connected to the mission of the organiser. The diffused use of artificial intelligence in productive processes and daily life will lead to an increasing standardisation of several cognitive functions and will make it clear the necessity to develop and strengthen emotional and social competences that are needed to deal with the fourth industrial revolution.
Technology-enhanced learning to support active ageing
The increasing dynamism of contemporary society poses some challenges also to current learning processes that could benefit from new methods based upon intelligent technologies. The use of technology, in this context, can be an enabling factor. The Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS), for example, are systems that, despite some limitations (for example, lack of dynamic adaptability and reduced innovation compared to classical learning environments), are able to support the acquisition of knowledge by their users through the use of modern Information and Communication Technologies. The experience of the authors in the field of education, coming from the development of crisis management training systems, has been renewed and enriched over the years, arriving to a new generation of ITSs. This latter one is able to support the dynamic adaptation of the lessons and to bring the educational processes out of the classrooms, overcoming the original limitations of the ITSs and pursuing the idea of a continuous learning both in time and in space.
