The Flipped Learning approach: quantitative research on the perception of Italian teachers
Get PDFThe Flipped Learning (FL) approach is attracting increasing interest in schools of every kind and level. Although the research results seem promising, they often appear limited, not particularly rigorous, and occasionally contradictory. An international quantitative research has been conducted to identify the perception of teachers who regularly apply the FL approach concerning the impact of their teaching practices. The results of the survey carried out in Italy, show that students can work at their own pace and with the materials they consider appropriate in relation to their learning style, according to the teachers’ perception. The cooperative approach and the use of educational technologies facilitate the development of relational and digital skills. While FL promotes students’ participation, as well as inclusive and experiential teaching practices, the results highlight critical issues inherent to the accessibility of educational technologies, consistency in planning activities, as well as the involvement of colleagues and students’ parents. L’approccio Flipped Learning: un’indagine quantitativa sulle percezioni degli insegnanti italianiL’approccio Flipped Learning (FL) riscontra un interesse crescente nelle scuole di ogni ordine e grado. Anche se i risultati delle ricerche sembrano promettenti, essi spesso appaiono limitati, non rigorosi e talvolta contraddittori. Una ricerca quantitativa internazionale è stata condotta al fine di identificare le percezioni degli insegnanti che applicano tale modello riguardo l’impatto delle loro pratiche didattiche. I risultati dell’indagine svolta in Italia, evidenziano come, secondo i docenti, gli studenti abbiano la possibilità di lavorare con ritmi e materiali che ritengono adeguati in relazione al proprio stile di apprendimento. L’approccio cooperativo e l’utilizzo delle tecnologie didattiche facilitano lo sviluppo delle competenze relazionali e digitali. Pur favorendo il FL la partecipazione attiva degli studenti, nonché la promozione di una didattica inclusiva ed esperienziale, si evidenziano criticità inerenti all’accessibilità delle tecnologie didattiche, il rilevante impegno nella progettazione delle attività, nonché il coinvolgimento dei colleghi e dei genitori degli studenti
Ways to Be Concerned with Gender in Philosophy
Get PDFIn this paper, some (non-exhaustive) ways in which philosophy can tackle gender are presented and examined. Starting from mainly negative critical stances and proceeding towards more positive approaches, the following ways to tackle gender are distinguished: the critique of gender through discourse analysis; the critique of gender essentialism; research on how gender concepts work; reflection upon how gender issues relate to issues of intersubjective recognition. The first three ways, although giving important contributions about how gender is conceived of, do not seem to give firm grounds to the rejection of gender discrimination, the refutation of essentialist beliefs about the genders, and the neutralization of the normative import of gender concepts. As a fourth way, I propose considering gendered subjectivity in the context of the dynamics of intersubjective relations, framing it in a view of intersubjective recognition as a basic process in human life. Il progetto della conoscenza nell’ambito del restauro della grotta degli Animali a Castello. Significato e ruolo di indagini, studi, diagnostica
Get PDFThe restoration of the Grotta degli Animali in the garden of the Medicean Villa of Castello is an ongoing project promoted by the Polo Museale per la Toscana in collaboration with the Soprintendenza A.B.A.P. of Florence, both regional offices of Italy’s Ministry of Cultural Heritage. The text displays the multidisciplinary approach set up in order to gain further knowledge of the monument and, consequently, to be able to develop the most appropriate conservation actions. The multidisciplinary activities concern various aspects: from diagnostics to survey, from the specification of the monument’s material structure to the study of archival records. The data collected is made available to the technical staff supervising the works in order to critically discuss scientific results and steer their choices based on factual information. “Critically” is a keyword here, since scientific data does not set rules for architects and art historians regarding how restoration must be conducted, but stands as a tool for accurate operational measures

Get PDFIn the past, the need to exhaustively document the gardens and artificial grottoes collided with the difficulty to survey and render their organic geometries. Also because of this reason, restoration Charters tended to overlook the issue of survey. The current geomatic techniques, through high resolution sampling, allow the acquiring of realistic and correct representations, also from a metric point of view. However, the use of digital models derived from automatic measuring tools does not guarantee their quality. This can be validated by strict control of the procedures and by means of metadata, i.e. the information describing the data and how they are obtained. The new survey contributed to the knowledge of the historical hydraulic system and its restoration and suggests that drawing A 1640v refers to the state before installation of the cladding. Future research will examine the narrow tunnels in the retaining wall around the grotto

The contemporary project of the tall residential building, between density and intensity
Get PDFThe essay investigates models and techniques of intervention for increasing the urban density, illustrating how the tall building can be a still useful device in the densification processes, and what circumstances it should face also in relationship with its evolution in the European architecture of the XX century. Several recent case-studies allow to highlight the role of the technology, addressed not only to overcome height limits, but also to actuate regenerative operations on existing tall buildings, and the necessity of associating, to the increase of density in the urban fabric, the development of an intensity of uses and relationships that can arise and intertwine in it
