    Layered tetrahedral network melilite is a promising structural family of fast ion conductors that exhibits the flexibility required to accommodate interstitial oxide anions leading to excellent ionic transport properties at moderate temperatures. Here, we present a combined experimental and computational Magic Angle Spinning (MAS) Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) approach which aims at elucidating the local configurational disorder and oxide ion diffusion mechanism in a key member of this structural family possessing the La1.54Sr0.46Ga3O7.27 composition. 17O and 71Ga MAS NMR spectra display complex spectral line shapes that could be accurately predicted using a computational ensemble-based approach to model site disorder across multiple cationic and anionic sites, thereby enabling the assignment of bridging/non-bridging oxygens and the identification of distinct gallium coordination environments. The 17O and 71Ga MAS NMR spectra of La1.54Sr0.46Ga3O7.27 display additional features not observed for the parent LaSrGa3O7 phase which are attributed to interstitial oxide ions incorporated upon cation doping and stabilised by the formation of five-coordinate Ga centres conferring framework flexibility. 17O high temperature (HT) MAS NMR experiments capture exchange within the bridging oxygens at 130 °C and reveal coalescence of all oxygen signals in La1.54Sr0.46Ga3O7.27 at approximately 300 °C, indicative of the participation of both interstitial and framework oxide ions in the transport process. These results, further supported by the coalescence of the 71Ga resonances in the 71Ga HT MAS NMR spectra of La1.54Sr0.46Ga3O7.27, unequivocally provide evidence for the conduction mechanism in this melilite phase and highlight the potential of MAS NMR spectroscopy to enhance the understanding of ionic motion in solid electrolytes

Hazel, Bakhti Vasiev, and Rachel Bearon. Abstract: While previous experimental and numerical studies of dilute micro-swimmer suspensions have focused on the behaviours of swimmers in the bulk flow and near boundaries, models typically do not account for the interplay between bulk flow and the choice of boundary conditions imposed in continuum models. In our work, we highlight the effect of boundary conditions on the bulk flow distributions, such as through the development of boundary layers or secondary peaks of cell accumulation in bulk-flow swimmer dynamics. For the case of a dilute swimmer suspension in Poiseuille flow, we compare the distribution (in physical and orientation space) obtained from individual based stochastic models with those from continuum models, and identify under what conditions it is mathematically sensible to use specific continuum boundary conditions to capture different physical scenarios (i.e. specular reflection, uniform random reflection and absorbing boundaries). We identify that the spread of preferred cell orientations is dependent on the interplay between rotation driven by the shear flow (Jeffery orbits) and rotational diffusion. We find that in the absence of hydrodynamic wall-interactions, swimmers preferentially approach the walls perpendicular to the surface in the presence of high rotational diffusion, and that the preferential approach of swimmers to the walls is shape-dependent at low rotational diffusion (when suspensions tend towards a fully deterministic case). In the latter case, the preferred orientations are nearly parallel to the surface for elongated swimmers and nearly perpendicular to the surface for near-spherical swimmers. Furthermore, we highlight the effects of swimmer geometries and shear throughout the bulk-flow on swimmer trajectories and show how the full history of bulk-flow dynamics affects the orientation distributions of micro-swimmer wall incidence

Questionnaire distributed to students at a university in Ghana. Participants answered questions relating to the deaths of their grandparents. Data collected from 17th July 2021 - 18th November 2021 and 26th April 2022 - 20th May 2022. Total number of respondents: 826. Each complete questionnaire contributes two data points to the sample, with questions relating to both maternal and paternal grandparents

    This resource is available from https://men4change.co.uk/ The #Men4Change toolkit is a workshop resource for youth leaders, activists and other professionals who work with young men to reflect on issues relating to gender, masculinity and what it means to be a man in the UK today. The resource further encourages young men to explore how harmful gendered norms and behaviours can be tackled in ways that aim to benefit themselves, their peer groups and communities. The toolkit, developed in consultation with UK community based stakeholders – Metro, Beyond Equality and Survivors Network – has emerged from a three-year research ESRC funded project - #Lads on Social Media: Investigating Young Networked Masculinities.     Band Gap Engineering of Carbon Nitride Hybrid Photocatalysts for CO2 Reduction in Aqueous Solutions

    Through the co-polymerisation of dicyandiamide and barbituric acid precursors, a series of visible light active carbon nitride photocatalysts has been prepared and characterized, and their photocatalytic activity has been evaluated. Structural and electronic characterisation has enabled variations in observed activity towards water splitting and CO2 reduction to be understood, both in the presence and absence of the iron porphyrin co-catalyst FeIII tetra(4-carboxylphenyl)porphyrin (FeTCPP). A combination of the most active carbon nitride catalyst using 5 wt% barbituric acid and FeTCPP provides a hybrid system where the alignment of band structure with appropriate reduction potentials and enhanced carrier lifetimes is capable of CO2 reduction in an aqueous solution with >60% selectivity for CO production. This study is one of only a few that achieves selective CO2 reduction using a hybrid molecular catalyst-carbon nitride photocatalyst in aqueous solution
