Synthesis and Characterization of Biodegradable Blend based on LDPE/cassava stem nanofiber cellulose
Conventional plastic becomes trend topic due to its long degradation time and needs attention related to environmental problem. One type of plastic that is difficult to be degraded is LDPE. Some of the efforts done is to synthesize plastics with organic material so that it becomes biodegradable plastic. Cellulose is an organic material that is abundant in nature and can be used as a filler. This research aims to synthesis the biodegradable plastic films composted by nanocellulose – LDPE. Mechanical (UTM), water resistance and degradation test has been done. The properties of the biodegradable blend still meet the commercial LDPE standart. Even though the biocomposite based on LDPE-nanofiber cellulose can not totally degradable but it is can be used as a solution to reduce the degradation time of a plastic waste
THE PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT OF CONSULTING SERVICE COMPANY IN INDONESIA; CASE STUDY
Performance evaluation is the first step of a company in reaching its competitive advantage in the midst of globalization and free market enactment. The result of performance evaluation can be used as strategic formulation and decision making in fixing performance indicator which is considered as poor. From the facts, this research uses the evaluation adopted from PwC, which used to evaluate the performance of a consulting service company in Indonesia named XYZ Ltd. The reason for choosing PwC business model is because it covers all aspects that affect company’s ability to achieve competitive advantage. Moreover, this research uses 5 of 7 aspects of performance measurement offered by PwC business model. Measurement indicators and characteristics based on library research and company’s internal managerial party interviews are made, so that the evaluation process can be interpreted into the formulation of strategic improvement and decisions making. The result of performance measurement is expected to be able to give a new perspective in overall performance evaluations of consulting companies and evaluate company’s ability to win over its competitors, as well as to prove the ability of PwC’s measurement model in evaluating the performance of consulting companies in Indonesia model of performance
ANALYSIS OF ZERO PLASTIC BAG POLICY EFFECT ON GREEN BEHAVIOUR WITH STRUCTURAL EQUATION MODELING (SEM) METHOD
Plastic bag is a product that is very often used in everyday life. Plastic bags are one of the biggest contributors to the volume of waste in Indonesia. Therefore, a policy related to the use of plastic bags is called a zero plastic bag. This policy requires plastic bag users to switch to using environmentally friendly bags. This study was conducted to analyze the effect of the zero platic bag policy on Makassar City community behavior related to the environment or green behavior if this policy is applied in the City of Makassar. To determine the effect of the zero plastic bag policy on people's behavior patterns about the environment using the SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) method. Initial identification was carried out by distributing questionnaires to respondents using plastic bags, especially retail consumers in Makassar City. The questionnaire contained green behavior variables which consisted of five variables. Then the results of data collection using a questionnaire are processed using descriptive analysis and then look for the effect of zero plastic bag policies on green behavior using the SEM method. The results of the identification of the influence of zero plastic bag policy based on four variables namely environmental knowledge, environmental attitude, green advertising, and green consumption on green behavior are that of the four variables that have a positive influence on green behavior are environmental attitude, green advertising, and green consumption . The results of this study can be used as policy input and see how effective this policy is when applied in Makassar City
DESIGN AND SIMULATION OF COCONUT TREE CLIMBING TOOL FOR COCONUT FARMERS IN LOMBOK SANGATTA BAY, EAST KUTAI
Great potentiality of coconut cannot be separated from the method of coconut harvest which still draw a lot of problems in. Until now, coconut farmers still use climber service in coconut harvesting. The process of coconut tree climbing is usually done without tools. This is very risky for the harvesters. Since the utilization of animal service (monkeys) have already prohibited from commercial activities, human service in coconut tree climbing becomes the alternative for the farmers. For this reason, the aim of this study is to design a tool for coconut tree climbing that will help coconut harvesters in Lombok Sangatta Bay, East Kutai, by considering climber's characteristics. Furthermore, the tool is made in form of design, which then being simulated to determine the tools’ safety level, stress level and the ability which is designed by using SolidWorks 2018 software.The result for the proposed design of coconut tree climbing tool for coconut harvester in Lombok Sangatta Bay, East Kutai, is to use 20 mm x 20 mm x 2 mm of hollow profile with AISI 1020 material built, which is declared safe for 80 kg capacity. Penanganan Air Limpasan pada Lokasi Penambangan Batubara PT Argo On Star Provinsi Kalimantan Selatan
Besarnya debit air yang masuk ke dalam front penambangan merupakan kendala yang harus dihadapi pada musim hujan, dikarenakan dapat mengakibatkan genangan air pada lantai dasar tambang sehingga produksi terhambat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui teknis sistem penyaliran yang layak dan aman guna kelancaran kegiatan produksi pada lokasi penambangan, pengaruh air limpasan terhadap lokasi penambangan dan mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi sistem drainase konvesional. Dari hasil pengamatan dan perhitungan total debit air yang masuk ke sump sekitar 55287,36 m3/hari dengan luas daerah pengaruh 51111 m2 dan intensitas curah hujan 682,5 mm/jam. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah pengaruh air limpasan terhadap kegiatan penambangan mengakibatkan produksi menurun, berdasarkan penelitian di lapangan rencana sistem drainase dititik beratkan pada air permukaan yang berasal dari air hujan, intensitas curah hujan rata – rata pada lokasi penambangan adalah 170,625 mm/jam dan diperoleh debit air limpasan sebesar 0,6399 m3/ dtk dengan menggunakan metode rasional, faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi sistem drainase konvesional adalah sistem penambangan, keadaan topografi daerah penambangan, curah hujan rencana, periode ulang hujan, intensitas curah hujan, dan catchmen area
STUDENT'S INTENTION TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE AND RESPONSIBLE CLOTHING CONSUMPTION
The textile industry is contributing a lot to the climate change since human consumptions on textile is very high. This articles aims to measure the influence of student’s sustainability knowledge and demographic profiles to their intention on buying sustainability product. Students from the same faculty completed an online survey with a total of 315 valid response that assesed the purchasing level, reasons, priorities, as well as some sustainable behaviour that the respondent might have. An ordinal regression used with employing the SPSS 16 software and p=0.05. Results suggest that the most significant factors affecting the students purchasing intention on sustainable products was whether their consider sustainable material as priority when purchasing textile products or not
A PRELIMINARY STUDY ON DESIGNED STRATEGY TO IMPROVE EMPLOYEES’ PERFORMANCE WITH CONSIDERATION TO THE EMPLOYEES’ CAREER DEVELOPMENT
This research is intended to test the effect of career development on work motivation, auditor certification and job performance with work motivation and auditor being the moderator variables. The number of respondents involved in this research was 222 individuals. All the respondents are employees of PT BKI Kalimantan Timur. This research is done using the quantitative approach. The type of data used is primary data obtained by the distribution of questionnaire. The questionnaire was analyzed using the Partial Least Square technique with the use of SmartPLS program. Based on the analytic results of this research it can be concluded that there is a significant proof that there are positive effects on work motivation, auditor certification and auditor’s performance. A good career development programme can increase work motivation, supports the auditor certification and improve on job performance of auditors. Uji Aktifitas Katalis NaOH/Ni/gamma Al2O3 pada Proses Transesterifikasi Minyak Kelapa Sawit
Biodiesel merupakan salah satu bahan bakar alternatif. Biodiesel dapat dibuat dari minyak sawit dan bahan baku lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan mempelajari pengaruh katalis (NaOH/Ni/γ-Al2O3) pada reaksi transesterfikasi minyak kelapa sawit terhadap persentase rendemen biodiesel, densitas, persentase etil ester, serta konversi asam lemak bebas dari produk biodiesel dari minyak kelapa sawit. Proses pembuatan biodiesel melalui transesterifikasi minyak kelapa sawit dengan pereaksi etanol pada suhu 60oC dengan penambahan katalis NaOH/Ni/γ-Al2O3 . Setelah waktu reaksi yang ditentukan, produk biodiesel didiamkan selama 24 jam ini bertujuan agar terjadi pemisahan antara sisa etanol, dan gliserol. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pengolahan data yang telah dilakukan, produk biodiesel terbaik pada penelitian ini adalah produk dengan persentase katalis 4% dan waktu reaksi 3 jam. Produk biodiesel ini, menghasilkan persentase rendemen sebesar 94,26% dan persentase etil ester sebesar 89,21% dan nilai konversi FFA sebesar 85,28%
PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT ANALYSIS USING MALCOLM BALDRIGE CRITERIA FOR PERFORMANCE EXELLENCE (MBCfPE) METHOD (Case Study at PT. NYCZ)
PT. NYCZ is a manufacturing company engaged in plastic bottle packaging production that cannot be separated from the problem of competition with similar companies. The problems encountered at PT. NYCZ regarding employee performance, namely lack of communication relations between subordinates and superiors, so that delivery of work instructions from superiors is still not understood by subordinates, it has an impact on employee performance output, Therefore the company must improve more efficient strategies in terms of leadership that is able to run and manage everything in internal and external of the company, more reliable skilled workforces, modern machines and technology, and is able to get a wider market and customers in plastic bottle products marketing. Malcolm Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence or Baldrige Criteria is a guide for a company to achieve high quality performance which consists 7 criterias, namely Leadership; Strategic Planning; Customer Focus; Measurement, Analysis and Knowledge Management; Focus on Workforce; Process Management; and Results. This research was conducted by distributing questionnaires to PT. NYCZ employees, respondents were taken according to job desks ranging from cashiers to managers. After questionnaire data was obtained, it was processed using SPSS to test validity and reliability. Then, questionnaire results were processed using Malcolm Baldrige score to determine company performance level. From the research results, it was obtained that the total points from Malcolm Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence survey are 411,14. Analisis Kualitas pH dan TSS Air Limbah Penambangan Bijih Nikel PT Prima Utama Lestari di Desa Ussu, Kecamatan Malili, Kabupaten Luwu Timur
Air merupakan elemen yang sangat penting bagi kehidupan manusia. keberadaan air perlu diperhatikan baik kuantitasmaupun kualitas air terutama pada kawasan sekitar area kegiatan pertambangan yang dapat berpotensi tercemar sehinggatidak layak di konsumsi. Penelitian ini akan berfokus untuk mengetahuikualitas mutu air berdasarkanpH dan TSS melalui pengujian kualitas air pada daerah sekitar lokasi penambangan bijih nikel PT. Prima Utama Lestariberupa pengambilan 4 sampel air meliputi air genangan dan air aliran. Uji laboratorium akan dilakukan pada UPTD Laboratorium Lingkungan DLH PemKab Luwu Timur Sulsel.Berdasarkan kimiawi air dan standar baku mutu yang dinyatakan olehPermen LH No.09 thn. 2006, PERMENKES No 32 Thn2017 dan PERMENKES No. 492 thn 2010 disimpulkan bahwa air aliran kegiatan pertambangan pada S1 dan S2 serta air genangan pada E2 sesuai kondisi pH(pH = S1(6.24), S3(6.73) dan E2 (6.52)) dan TSS (TSS = S1(8,2), S3(12) dan E2 (5.1)) berada diabang dan di bawah batas baku mutu yang telah ditetapkan. Kemudian untuk air genangan E1 pH (5.85) tergolong asam lemah berada di bawah ambang batas baku mutu dan TSS (1.8) berada dibawah standar baku. Perpedaan kondisi air pada E1 dipengaruhi jenis batuan yang dilewati selama limpasan berlangsung.
