    Jesi Furio

    No full text
Parole chiave: Furio Jesi, mito, macchina mitologica, religione della morte, critica razionale   Furio Jesi developed an innovative analysis of the relationship between myth, religion, and power, introducing the concept of the “mythological machine.” This represents a narrative device that makes myth simultaneously visible and inaccessible, structuring human culture around an unattainable origin. Jesi highlights the role of myth in the construction of collective identity and political manipulation, defining the “religion of death” as a form of mythology instrumentalized by power. By linking this type of instrumentalization to what he calls “right-wing culture,” Jesi’s political and cultural militancy turns to the relentless exploration of the mythological machine, aiming for emancipation from the esoteric evocation of its power. Tradition, that is, the origin, the inaccessible core of myth, should be disseminated in the practice of rational criticism. Keywords: Furio Jesi, myth, mythological machine, religion of death, rational criticis

Parole chiave: Tina Mirella Manferdini; filosofia della religione; fede; Rivelazione; religione e cultura   Tina Mirella Manferdini (1927-2005) was an Italian philosopher of religion and among the first women to hold a university chair in this field. Trained at the University of Bologna under Teodorico Moretti-Costanzi, she was a key figure in the neo-Bonaventurian school. Her thought revolves around three major figures: Augustine, Rosmini, and Bonaventure, integrating metaphysical reflection with the analysis of religious experience. She critically examined the relationship between philosophy and religion, highlighting tensions between faith and knowledge, experience and revelation. Her research focused on Augustine’s concept of communication and Rosmini’s ontological framework. Engaging with contemporary thinkers such as Tillich, Guardini, Barth, and Dewey, she explored the relationship between religion and modern culture. Her academic legacy continues through her students, influencing the discourse on the philosophy of religion in the 20th century. Moretti Costanzi Teodorico

Parole chiave: Teodorico Moretti-Costanzi, cristologia, ascesi, cristianesimo-filosofia, ontologia sacrale   Teodorico Moretti-Costanzi was an assistant to P. Carabellese and then, for many decades, a full professor of theoretical philosophy at the University of Bologna. The development of Moretti-Costanzi’s thought can be summarized in his proposal of the centrality of an authentic Christology as the true key to understanding reality and as the unequivocal content of philosophy. The duality of finite and infinite, time and eternity, is resolved in the adherence to God, who is both temporal and eternal, made one among many, yet remaining the principle of unity and love for all. In this direction, drawing in an original way on the Franciscan and Bonaventurian tradition, he develops the proposal of an “ascetic” path of philosophizing—one that does not mean estrangement from the world or abstract spirituality, but rather incarnation and elevation to the truth, culminating in the affirmation of a Christianity-philosophy and a sacred ontology in which “the expressed experience is also the presence of the Reality that bears witness within it.” Keywords: Teodorico Moretti-Costanzi, Christology, ascetism, Cristianity-philosophy, sacred ontolog

    Stefanini Luigi

Parole chiave: Luigi Stefanini, spiritualismo cristiano, personalismo cristiano, immagine e trascendenza, esistenzialismo teistico   In important studies on Plato, Luigi Stefanini found in the Athenian philosopher the theme of transcendence, but not a philosophy of the spiritual. Plato, Stefanini asserts, certainly prepared the synthesis of the ideal and the spiritual, but this would only be fulfilled in the conception of the personal God of Christianity. The Platonic relationship between ideal archetypes and sensible things thus undergoes a decisive transformation in the main authors of Christian patristics, particularly in Augustine, for whom the sensible world is an image of the intelligible world (purely possible) living in God. Building on this framework, Stefanini draws significant developments in various fields of philosophy—from aesthetics to the philosophy of education—opposing immanentistic idealism and atheistic existentialism, and arriving at his own specific theoretical proposal of Christian personalism. Keywords: Luigi Stefanini, Christian spiritualism, Christian personalism, image and transcendence, theistic existentialis

    Subilia Vittorio

Parole chiave: Vittorio Subilia, teologia protestante, alterità di Dio, evento di Cristo, Parola di Dio   Vittorio Subilia was, in the post-war period, a professor for many years at the Waldensian Faculty of Theology in Rome, teaching systematic theology, which also included the history of dogmas and New Testament theology. While not merely a repeater, Subilia consistently paid attention to the theological thought of K. Barth, emphasizing the absolute otherness of God and the centrality of the event of Christ. Subilia insists that we live in the interim between the ascension and the parousia, and he consistently took a stand against the idea that theological perspectives could be sacrificed for diplomatic compromise and the ecclesiocentric vision of church hierarchies. Subilia also emphasized the specificities of the Reformation in relation to Catholicism more than other representatives of contemporary Italian Protestantism. Turoldo David Maria

Parole chiave: David Maria Turoldo, Essere e divenire, atto di fede, andare al di là, poesia e preghiera   Priest and poet, David Maria Turoldo was philosophically educated at the Catholic University of Milan with G. Bontadini. Even in his unpublished thesis, Turoldo argues that becoming, within which our ex-sistence is placed, is irreconcilable with being: in fact, it becomes and never is. Therefore, one does not pass from becoming to being, unless through a Revelation by which Being itself descends to unite with us – and we with Him and the Good that is Truth. This leads to a sort of progressive “going beyond’: philosophy refers to religion, which in turn points to an “act of faith”, a “down faith”, of which the symbol is Job and which is capable of freeing religion from ideologies, fideisms, and fanaticisms. In this context, poetry, alongside religion and the act of faith, is, like all art, “an image of the world as an image of Being.”  “True, great poetry always ends in prayer,” Turoldo states. Keywords: David Maria Turoldo, Being and becoming, act of faith, going beyond, poetry and prayer

Urban commons and cultural activities: governance and co-production processes in local communities

    No full text
Purpose. The purpose of this paper is to reflect on cultural activity in cities, and on the contribution that urban commons can make to changing the urban cultural landscape. Design/methodology/approach. The analysis is set within the theoretical framework of the commons, and more precisely the urban commons: therefore, we will first carry out a review of the literature covering the key aspects of the framework. Then, we will introduce a descriptive case study aimed at providing an example of the contribution that urban commons can make to the definition of cultural activities in cities. Findings. We will find that communities managing urban commons, their values and objectives have great importance in defining the direction of cultural activities that can be carried out in such spaces; with this in mind, urban commons can make a valuable contribution to the cultural landscape of cities and neighborhood, and be part of a grassroots movement that shapes culture on the basis of social and collective needs. Practical and Social implications. Urban commons are often highly valued by local communities, as they become social and cultural hubs in their neighborhoods. At the same time, they often face opposition from local administration, mainly based on legal issues pertaining to the ownership of the spaces. Adopting a co-production approach to public value may allow such initiatives to flourish, with support from the public sector. Originality of the study. This paper links the fields of urban studies, with a specific focus on commons, with that of cultural activities, and takes into account a new, shared way of “making” culture in the city

FROM POLTRONOVA TO CENTRO STUDI POLTRONOVA: HOW TO PIVOT ON CULTURAL RESOURCES FOR ORGANIZATIONAL REBIRTH

    No full text
Purpose. This article focuses on the role of cultural resources, seeking to shed new light on their pivotal role in organizational rebirth after organizational death. Adding to literature on cultural resources, this study investigates how an organization can leverage its existing cultural resources as primary source to inform organizational rebirth. Design/methodology/approach. Through inductive single case study approach, this study analyzes the case of Poltronova, an Italian SME in the furniture business, founded by an artist and developed upon the central role of designers and design projects. Practical and Social implications. The study can inform practitioners on how to navigate organizational rebirth by leveraging internal cultural resources, when other resources are unavailable. Furthermore, it offers new insight on the intrinsic value of artistic efforts and of business involvement with artists to provide favorable conditions towards both economic and cultural development. Originality of the study. Our findings highlight the emergence of what we label artist-based enterprise and project-based model, which can secure organizational success through restoring its historical origin, while ensuring economic profitability in the contemporary context

Purpose. This research aims to investigate the decision-making processes of sellers in cross-border, ‘opportunity-driven’ acquisitions of small high-tech firms. Specifically, it examines the factors that influence executive-level interest in ownership transfer, the criteria used to evaluate and respond to investor proposals, and the perceived benefits of such acquisitions.Design/methodology/approach. Given the exploratory nature of the research, a qualitative single-case study methodology was adopted. The study focuses on the acquisition of an Italian small firm specializing in 3D printing services by a Swedish group operating in the same sector.Findings. The research sheds light on the motivations that drive the management of a small high-tech enterprise to accept an acquisition offer from a foreign firm. It also highlights the key factors influencing the acceptance or rejection of investor proposals and outlines the perceived advantages of the acquisition for the acquired firm.Practical and social implications. The study presents valuable practical and social implications by enhancing understanding of the seller’s decision-making process in cross-border acquisitions. The findings contribute to knowledge on how such transactions can support the economic development of small high-tech firms.Originality of the study. The originality of this research lies in its focus on cross-border acquisitions involving high-tech SMEs from the seller’s perspective. To the best of our knowledge, this is one of the first studies to examine this phenomenon
