No full textGiovanni Miegge, pastore della Chiesa valdese, è stato figura centrale del protestantesimo italiano del Novecento. Tra le due guerre, attraverso la rivista «Gioventù Cristiana», operò per introdurre in Italia i dibattiti della teologia protestante coeva di autori come K. Barth e E. Brunner. Dopo aver tradotto già nel 1928 La teologia della crisi, un libro su Barth, di quest’ultimo tradusse La lettera ai Romani e si occupò a fondo di Lutero, traducendolo e sottolinenandovi l’importanza della teologia della croce. Nel secondo dopoguerra è stato figura di riferimento della Facoltà Valdese di Roma e del protestantesimo italiano, anche attraverso gli interventi sulla rivista «Protestantesimo» che ha raccolto l’eredità di «Gioventù Cristiana». Il denso Per una fede del 1952 costituisce forse (traduzioni a parte) il suo contributo più importante: vi è presentato un cristianesimo, nel quale il radicamento nella tradizione è robusto, ma che intende interloquire con la modernità secolare.

Giovanni Miegge, a pastor of the Waldensian Church, was a central figure in Italian Protestantism in the twentieth century. Between the two World Wars, through the periodical “Gioventù Cristiana,” he worked to introduce contemporary Protestant theological debates in Italy, engaging with authors like K. Barth and E. Brunner. After translating a book on Barth in 1928 (The Theology of Crisis), he translated Barth’s The Letter to the Romans and deeply studied Luther, translating his works and emphasizing the importance of the theology of the cross. In the post-World War II period, Miegge became a reference figure for the Waldensian Faculty in Rome and Italian Protestantism, also through his contributions to the periodical “Protestantesimo,” which inherited the legacy of “Gioventù Cristiana.” His dense work Per una fede from 1952 perhaps constitutes his most important contribution (aside from translations): it presents a Christianity that is firmly rooted in tradition but aims to engage with secular modernity.

Nobile Emilia
No full textEmilia Nobile ha dedicato i suoi studi al problema del dualismo, del male e dell’errore nella filosofia e nella religione, approfondendo autori come Jakob Böhme e Schelling. La sua ricerca si è concentrata sull\u27idea di una realtà strutturalmente tensiva, in cui le forze contrastanti non possono mai essere definitivamente armonizzate. Secondo Nobile, la religione rappresenta l\u27espressione più radicale di questa tensione, fungendo da ponte tra umano e trascendente senza mai fondere i due poli. La sua prospettiva, influenzata dal kantismo e dal pensiero dialettico, mantiene una tensione tra limite umano e ricerca del bene, senza cadere nel determinismo morale o metafisico.
Emilia Nobile si è dedicata intensamente al tema dell’errore, del manchevole, e, in modo più ampio, del male. Il problema del male e dell’errore si inquadra nell’autrice in una concezione tensiva dell’esperienza umana, un «lottare inevitabile e perpetuo», che, richiamandosi ad autori come Eraclito e J. Böhme, ella espone in un’ampia opera sul dualismo. Proprio per il carattere tensivo e duale di tutta la realtà di cui l’uomo fa esperienza, Nobile assegna il primato alla religione in tale esperienza, perché nella religione i dualismi tensivi sono presenti nella modalità più estrema, avendo un referente ultimo totalmente trascendente a tutto il resto.

Her research emphasized the idea of a structurally tense reality where opposing forces can never be fully reconciled. According to Nobile, religion is the most radical expression of this tension, acting as a bridge between the human and the transcendent without dissolving their distinction. Her perspective, influenced by Kantianism and dialectical thought, maintains a balance between human limitations and the pursuit of good, avoiding both moral and metaphysical determinism.

No full textPietro Prini ha elaborato un pensiero che lui stesso suddivide in tre periodi. Il primo è caratterizzato dal cammino lungo gli Itinerari del platonismo perenne (1950), dove vengono fatti interagire, in modo originale, filosofi quali Plotino, A. Rosmini e G. Marcel. Nel secondo periodo, segnato dall’evento del Concilio Vaticano II, Prini tematizza un’ontologia semantica che rompa con l’ontologia apofantica, di ascendenza aristotelica, e porti a superare un immobilismo negativo verso la scienza e la laicizzazione dell’Occidente moderno, vedendo anzi in tali processi un contributo a una purificazione del Sacro, cioè depurazione dagli elementi magici e superstiziosi con cui esso si presentava avvolto nella sua origine storica. Su queste basi, nell’ultimo periodo, Prini si impegna nell’intepretazione delle dottrine tradizionali cattoliche oggi, comprendendole non come un coacervo immutabile, ma come una serie di approssimazioni storiche.

Pietro Prini has developed a thought that he himself divides into three periods. The first is characterized by the journey along the Itineraries of perennial Platonism (1950), where philosophers such as Plotinus, A. Rosmini, and G. Marcel interact in an original way. In the second period, marked by the event of the Second Vatican Council, Prini thematizes a semantic ontology that breaks with apophantic ontology, of Aristotelian descent, and aims to overcome a negative immobility towards science and the secularization of modern Western society, seeing in these processes a contribution to the purification of the Sacred, that is, a cleansing from the magical and superstitious elements with which it was historically enveloped. On this basis, in the last period, Prini engages in the interpretation of traditional Catholic doctrines today, understanding them not as an immutable conglomerate, but as a series of historical approximations.

Zolla Elémire
No full textElémire Zolla ha studiato intensamente temi quali la mistica, la simbologia filosofico-religiosa, le tradizioni esoteriche. Egli affronta l’esperienza religiosa e i suoi simboli cercando, attraverso un metodo sincretistico, di individuare nelle più diverse tradizioni mondiali dei valori permanenti nel divenire storico, ossia una “Tradizione” unica, pur nella molteplicità delle sue espressioni, o anche, con un termine del pensiero rinascimentale, una “filosofia perenne”. Egli intende in tal modo svolgere un tentativo di liberazione tanto dalle costrizioni sociali quanto dall’illusione dell’individualità, a favore di una rinnovata capacità di immaginazione e di una esperienza metafisica al di là della maglia spazio-temporale. Il suo lavoro continua a suscitare interesse anche grazie all’attività della moglie, Grazia Marchianò, e alla pubblicazione dell’Opera Omnia.

Elémire Zolla studied intensely themes such as mysticism, philosophical-religious symbolism, and esoteric traditions. He addresses religious experience and its symbols, seeking, through a syncretistic method, to identify in the diverse world traditions permanent values in historical becoming, that is, a unique "Tradition," despite the multiplicity of its expressions, or, using a term from Renaissance thought, a "perennial philosophy." In this way, he aims to undertake an attempt at liberation from both social constraints and the illusion of individuality, in favor of a renewed capacity for imagination and a metaphysical experience beyond the space-time framework. His work continues to generate interest, also thanks to the efforts of his wife, Grazia Marchianò, and the publication of the Opera Omnia.

No full textPurpose: This article explores the shift from a ‘narrow’ to a ‘wide’ conceptualization of Entrepreneurship Education, emphasizing its role in fostering entrepreneurial mindsets beyond business creation. It discusses key challenges in evaluating ‘wide’ Entrepreneurship Education programs, integrating technology, and engaging students.
Design/methodology/approach: The study is based on a review of contemporary Entrepreneurship Education literature, highlighting evolving theoretical frameworks, performance evaluation methods, and technological integration in Entrepreneurship Education programs.
Findings: The transition to ‘wide’ Entrepreneurship Education requires new assessment methodologies, pedagogical innovations, and adaptive educational strategies. Traditional business-centric evaluation frameworks are insufficient for measuring mindset development and long-term impacts. Technology plays a dual role, both enhancing and challenging Entrepreneurial Education implementation. Additionally, social values and global challenges can serve as entry points to engage students in Entrepreneurship Education programs.
Practical and social implications: A broader Entrepreneurship Education approach can better equip students with competencies applicable across various social and economic domains. Insights into effective program design, student engagement strategies, and assessment methods can inform educational policies and institutional practices. Moreover, integrating digital tools and aligning Entrepreneurial Education with societal challenges can enhance its accessibility and relevance.
Originality of the study: This paper contributes to the ongoing discourse on ‘wide’ Entrepreneurship Education by synthesizing recent scholarly perspectives and identifying critical areas for future research. It highlights the need for new theoretical models, educator training strategies, and comprehensive evaluation frameworks to support the evolution of Entrepreneurship Education in contemporary educational contexts.Oggetto: Questo articolo esplora il passaggio da una concezione “ristretta” a una “ampia” di educazione all\u27imprenditorialità, sottolineando il suo ruolo nella promozione di una mentalità imprenditoriale non intesa soltanto come creazione di nuove imprese. L\u27articolo esamina le sfide principali riguardanti la valutazione dell\u27efficacia di programmi che abbraccino una prospettiva ampia di entrepreneurship education, l\u27integrazione della tecnologia e il coinvolgimento degli studenti.Disegno/metodologia/approccio: Lo studio si basa su una revisione della letteratura più recente sull\u27educazione all\u27imprenditorialità, evidenziando i principali framework teorici, i metodi di valutazione delle prestazioni e il modo in cui la tecnologia può essere integrata nei programmi di entrepreneurship education.Risultati: La transizione verso una concezione ampia di educazione all\u27imprenditorialità rende indispensabile lo sviluppo di nuove metodologie di valutazione, innovazioni pedagogiche e strategie educative adattive. I tradizionali schemi di valutazione incentrati sul business sono insufficienti per misurare lo sviluppo della mentalità imprenditoriale e gli impatti a lungo termine dell\u27entrepreneurship education. In tali percorsi formativi la tecnologia può svolgere un duplice ruolo, migliorando e mettendo a dura prova l\u27attuazione di programmi di entrepreneurship education. Inoltre, i valori sociali e le sfide globali possono servire come fattori stimolanti utili a coinvolgere gli studenti nei programmi di educazione all\u27imprenditorialità.
Implicazioni pratiche e sociali: Un approccio più ampio all\u27educazione all\u27imprenditorialità può fornire agli studenti competenze applicabili in vari ambiti sociali ed economici. Le riflessioni proposte nel paper riguardo a progettazione di programmi efficaci, strategie di coinvolgimento degli studenti e metodi di valutazione possono essere utili per indirizzare le politiche educative e le pratiche istituzionali. Inoltre, l\u27integrazione di strumenti digitali e l\u27allineamento dell\u27educazione all\u27imprenditorialità con le sfide della società possono migliorarne l\u27accessibilità e la rilevanza.Originalità dello studio: Questo articolo contribuisce alla discussione in corso riguardo al concetto di "wide entrepreneurship education", sintetizzando le recenti prospettive degli studiosi e identificando le aree critiche per la ricerca futura. How eco-entrepreneurs are transforming Italian tourism sector: Evidence from the hospitality industry
No full textPurpose. This study investigates eco-entrepreneurship within Italy\u27s hospitality sector, examining the motivations, practices, impacts, and challenges eco-entrepreneurs experience. It aims to enrich the discourse on sustainable tourism and ecological entrepreneurship in Italy.
Design/methodology/approach. The research uses a multiple case study methodology to focus on six small-scale enterprises in the Italian hospitality industry. Data collection comprised semi-structured interviews with key informants, supplemented by secondary data analysis. The interviews were coded and analysed using NVivo 14 to extract meaningful insights.
Findings. The research reveals that personal commitment, environmental responsibility, and local heritage preservation drive eco-entrepreneurs. Key sustainable practices include resource conservation, waste management, and promoting local products. Transitioning to sustainable operations has been found to enhance reputation and customer trust, although the economic benefits of these initiatives remain unclear. The primary challenges identified are high investment costs, complex regulatory landscapes, and the need for targeted marketing to sensitise consumers towards sustainable options.
Practical and Social Implications. The findings highlight potential policy interventions to simplify the certification process and provide economic incentives for eco-friendly practices. Eco-entrepreneurs effectively demonstrate how sustainability in hospitality can engage local communities and influence consumer behaviour towards eco-conscious travel, thereby driving broader societal shifts towards sustainability.
Originality of the study. This research contributes to the limited empirical literature on eco-entrepreneurship within Italy\u27s largely small-scale hospitality sector. It underscores the sector\u27s potential to serve as a model for sustainable tourism practices, offering insights that could be applied to other regions and industries
Innovation and entrepreneurial small firms in the tourism sector
No full textPurpose. This editorial introduces and contextualizes the thematic framework underpinning the Special Issue on innovation and entrepreneurial small firms in the tourism sector. It examines how entrepreneurship, sustainability transitions, digital transformation, youth engagement, and circular models are reshaping tourism ecosystems, with a specific focus on the role of small firms and peripheral territories.
Design/methodology/approach. The editorial summarizes and discusses the five contributions included in the Special Issue, highlighting their collective insights into eco-entrepreneurship, sustainability communication, circular economy adoption, youth-driven development, and the influence of founders’ educational backgrounds on intellectual capital and business models.
Findings. The contributions show how innovation in tourism SMEs is a relational and context-dependent phenomenon emerging from the interplay of entrepreneurial values, human capital, territorial identity, and institutional frameworks.
Practical and social implications. The findings underscore key levers for sustainable and inclusive tourism growth, including improved governance, communication capacity, territorial networking, youth empowerment, and cross-disciplinary competencies.

Grimm’s fairy tales as an interface between literature, language and culture: a literary enrichment for holistic (German) language learning at university level
No full textThe educational value of fairy tales has already been recognised by the Brothers Grimm themselves, and by the end of the 19th century, their fairy tales had been introduced into school lessons in Germany, where they have remained ever since. In the 1980s, they became even more popular in education and were soon also found to be useful for teaching German as a foreign language (GFL). Fairy tales serve as an interface between literature, language, and culture, and their integration into language teaching significantly expands the didactic repertoire. This paper will explore the potential of fairy tales for teaching university students of German and, by providing concrete examples from practice, will demonstrate how even small fairy tale tasks can facilitate holistic learning, owing to the wide range of applications in the language classroom, from creative writing to grammar revision
‘Shadows of Remorse’: Guilt and Murder in Ada the Betrayed
No full textThis essay discusses the depiction of violence and remorse in the popular penny serial Ada the Betrayed (1842-3) – the first serial written by James Malcolm Rymer, who would later write the more famous serials Varney the Vampire (1845-7) and The String of Pearls (1846-7). It briefly discusses the rise of penny crime fiction in the 1830s, and the depiction of violence and trauma in the penny serials published in the years immediately preceding Ada, such as Oliver Twiss (1838-9), Ela, the Outcast (1839-41), and The Maniac Father (1842). It then explores how Ada moved away from these in its treatment of the psychology of violence, responding to the moral panic over crime fiction that followed the murder of Lord Russell in 1840, and the role played by the serial in popularising the figure of the remorseful murderer in the popular literary culture of the early Victorian period
