    Tartaglia Ferdinando

Parole chiave: Ferdinando Tartaglia, puro dopo, problema di Dio, realtà nuova, riforma religiosa   Catholic priest since 1939, Ferdinando Tartaglia soon expressed positions that clashed with ecclesiastical authority, drawing closer, among others, to a non-denominational religious thinker like A. Capitini. He was excommunicated in 1946, an event that increased his visibility in nonconformist circles; however, he later withdrew into a sort of hermitage, from which he occasionally emerged thanks to the activities of the ‘Center for New Reality,’ which he founded. During his lifetime, he published very little, while a portion of his vast unpublished works is currently being published by the Adelphi publisher. In a key text from 1949 - the Tesi sulla fine del problema di Dio (published by Adelphi in 2002, with an essay by S. Quinzio) - he argues against traditional views, both religious and anti-religious, of the problem of God, seeking that extreme dimension he defines as the “pure after,” connecting it to a radical religious reform. Keywords: Ferdinando Tartaglia, pure after, problem of God, new reality, religious refor

    Tucci Giuseppe

Parole chiave: Giuseppe Tucci, Asia religiosa, religioni del Tibet, Oriente e Occidente, ateismo buddistico   Giuseppe Tucci was an internationally renowned explorer and scholar of various Asian cultures. After initially cultivating interests primarily in Sinology, it was Buddhism, in its diversity and its ability to connect different civilizations in Asia, that increasingly became the focus of his research, also from a philosophical-religious perspective (among his most notable studies are those on Tibet). Furthermore, with Buddhism, as his student R. Gnoli wrote, Tucci “firmly believed in a different dimension of reality” and, correspondingly, while he “was very respectful” of all historical forms of relating to that absolute diversity, he also considered each of them insufficient to express that diversity as such, and thus described himself as “atheist in the Buddhist sense of the term.” Keywords: Giuseppe Tucci, religious Asia, religions of Tibet, East and West, Buddhist atheism

    Vailati Giovanni

Parole chiave: Giovanni Vailati, pragmatismo, scienza e religione, ragione e fede, concetto della Divinità   Giovanni Vailati was a philosopher and mathematician, known for his scientific and historical approach to knowledge and for his critical pragmatism. His interest in religion focused more on ethical and social implications than on theological issues, recognizing the primarily educational function of faith. While he considered a transcendent perspective scientifically unproven, he maintained an open and problematic stance towards the idea of God and the immortality of the soul. In a letter, he writes, for example, that one could elevate and modify our concept of the Divinity rather than destroy it. He thus showed interest in modernism, in whose attempted dialogue between reason and faith he saw an effort to improve the human condition, a theme that was dear to him. He attended - as evidenced by correspondence - Catholic renewal groups in Rome and Milan, although he did not properly adhere to their movements. Keywords: Giovanni Vailati, pragmatism, science and religion, reason and faith, concept of Divinit

The Role of Monetary Policy in Mitigating Financial Market Volatility in Nigeria

This study investigated the role of monetary policy in mitigating financial market volatility using monthly data from January 1990 to December 2022 and adopted the Exponential Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity (EGARCH) model. The study categorized the financial market into the capital market and the money market. Utilizing the Johansen cointegration method, the study found a long-run relationship between the variables. Based on the EGARCH results, it was determined that monetary policy, represented by money supply and the monetary policy rate, has a negative correlation with the capital market and a positive correlation with the money market. These findings indicate that monetary policy does not mitigate volatility in the capital market but rather affects the money market. Furthermore, the study revealed that monetary policy can either increase or decrease financial market volatility. Consequently, the study recommends that monetary authorities exercise caution in the indiscriminate application of policy instruments, as substantial evidence suggests that the use of monetary policy tools significantly impacts the performance of financial markets

IThis paper critically examines the evolving relationship between chronic illness and employment, highlighting the tensions with traditional legal categories used to frame work incapacity. After outlining a possible legal definition of chronic illness—still lacking a comprehensive framework—the analysis focuses on two key areas: the suspension of the employment contract in cases of temporary incapacity, with particular reference to sick leave, job-retention mechanisms, and the recent provisions of Law No. 106 of 18 July 2025; and the impact of partial incapacity on job tasks, working time, and workplace arrangements. Drawing on recent case law, the paper reconstructs the consolidated approach that qualifies many chronic conditions as disabilities under Directive 2000/78/EC, thereby extending the employer’s duties regarding reasonable accommodation. However, it also highlights the limits of this assimilation, questioning the automatic link between extended sick leave and accommodation, and underlining the persisting shortcomings in adapting working time and remote work arrangements. The paper calls for moving beyond a merely anti-discrimination approach towards a more structural and preventive paradigm, grounded in the employer’s health and safety obligations under Article 2087 of the Italian Civil Code and in the role of collective bargaining as a driver of inclusive organizational innovation.

    No full text
This paper re-examines Antonio Gramsci’s rejection of Raffaele Corso’s definition of folklore as “contemporary prehistory” and argues that the concept can be reconsidered in light of Gramsci’s critique. Gramsci opposed Corso’s positivist, evolutionary view, emphasizing instead the complexity, instability, and fragmentary nature of folklore. In the Quaderni del carcere, he framed folklore as a by-product of the dialectical relationship between hegemonic and subaltern classes, where elements of dominant culture “fall” into subaltern traditions and are recombined into contradictory worldviews. The paper suggests that folklore may indeed be understood as “contemporary prehistory,” not as a stage to be overcome, but as an unofficial, unwritten, and persistent cultural process that preserves what official history excludes. Folklore functions both conservatively, maintaining repressed social elements, and subversively, offering resources for cultural resistance. Gramsci’s background in linguistics shaped his recognition of folklore as a dynamic system akin to language—stratified, fossil-like, yet continually alive. By situating Gramsci’s contributions within broader cultural theory, the study highlights both the strength and the limits of his Marxist approach. It concludes that engaging critically with folklore remains crucial today, especially in the face of conspiracy theories and misinformation, which demonstrate its enduring social power.

THE IMPACT OF EDUCATION ON STUDENTS’ ENTREPRENEUR-IAL INTENTION. MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING OR TRUE CHANCE?

    No full text
Purpose. Rooted in the rationale that entrepreneurship can be taught and learned, this study aims to understand whether and how certain dimensions of students’ education affect their entrepreneurial intention (EI). Design/methodology/approach. Under the lens of Ajzen’s Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), we employ structural equation modeling (SEM) on data gathered via Likert-based questionnaires to understand if attitudes, subjective norms, self-efficacy and students’ skills impact the EI in a sample of 1,730 graduate and undergraduate students across France, Italy, Lithuania, Poland and Spain. Findings. While the findings confirm that these factors can shape students’ EI, they also reveal that skills provided by universities are the most prominent element leading European students toward entrepreneurial careers. Also, we conducted an additional analysis to understand whether country differences affect our results, suggesting novel insights on the topic. Practical and social implications. The research contributes to academic discourse and policy considerations surrounding entrepreneurship, education, and training. Specifically, the paper advocates for rethinking the employment-education interface, offering practical tools and theoretical ideas to bridge the gap between entrepreneurial practice and higher education systems. Originality. By incorporating in the core of the analysis the role of skills acquired through university programs, the study offers a timely and comprehensive investigation of the factors influencing students’ entrepreneurial intention, contributing to a deeper understanding of their potential determinants

INTELLECTUAL CAPITAL, ENTREPRENEURIAL ORIENTATION, AND GREEN INNOVATION IN ITALIAN SMES

    No full text
Purpose. This study aims to examine the relationships between IC, EO, and green innovation in Italian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Specifically, it investigates how different components of intellectual capital influence the dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation and how these, in turn, impact green innovation Design/methodology/approach . A structural model was developed and tested using data collected from a sample of 210 Italian SMEs. The model was analyzed using PLS-SEM technique. Findings. Results show that structural capital has a significant positive influence on all three dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation (innovativeness, proactiveness, and risk-taking). Human capital has a positive impact on risk-taking, while relational capital positively influences innovativeness. Among the EO dimensions, only innovativeness demonstrated a significant positive relationship with green innovation. Practical and Social implications. The study highlights the importance of SMEs investing in structural capital to foster entrepreneurial orientation. Moreover, it underscores the critical role of innovativeness in driving green innovation, suggesting that cultivating a culture of creativity and experimentation could be key to advancing environmental sustainability efforts. Originality of the study. This research contributes to the existing literature by providing empirical evidence on the interplay between IC, EO, and green innovation in the context of Italian SMEs. It offers a more nuanced understanding of how different components of intellectual capital influence specific dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation and how these translate into green innovation

Cultural entrepreneurial opportunities: a business network perspective

    No full text
Purpose. This paper aims to investigate how the entrepreneurial network can support the exploitation of cultural entrepreneurial opportunities. In particular, this paper analyses the foundation of a startup belonging to the CCIs and its evolution in the early-stage. Design/methodology. This study adopts a qualitative research approach and a case study design. The case study concerns a film-startup in the audiovisual industry that has reached its early stage. The startup founded its development on business and non business relationships with key organizations in the Lake Como area. Qualitative data were collected through semi-structured interviews. Primary and secondary data were integrated. Findings. Findings reveal that exploiting cultural entrepreneurial opportunities requires a shift from an individual perspective to an interorganizational perspective, considering the development of business and non business relationships with heterogeneous stakeholders. In particular, local relationships based on regional values encourage the transition from local cultural opportunities to cultural entrepreneurial opportunities, creating a virtuous circle: CEOs generate a positive impact on startups and business activities in the territory. The combination of geographical and cultural proximity with relational proximity has fostered the relationships that characterize the network context, improving the sense of collectivism even within organizations. Practical and social implications. Exploiting cultural entrepreneurial opportunities requires combining heterogeneous competences through interorganizational relationships. The integration of cultural and business goals that characterize cultural organizations is based on the development of business and non business relationships with different organizations. Mapping key actors and innovative networking practices can improve the achievement of cultural and business goals. Originality of the study. This study contributes to the analysis of cultural entrepreneurial opportunities generated at meso level, considering the collaboration between a new CCIs venture and various organizations belonging to the territory. Furthermore, the paper responds to the call for an in-depth analysis of how actors work collectively to support the development of new entrepreneurial ventures. Differently from previous studies focused on inidiviual-micro level, this paper considers the inter-organizational perspective in cultural entrepreneurship
