No full textDe evangelische beweging in Afrika wordt doorgaans geassocieerd met de Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA), een koepelorganisatie van 40 nationale evangelische allianties, die onderdeel is van de World Evangelical Alliance. Sinds de oprichting in de jaren zestig van de vorige eeuw is de AEA regelmatig verweten dat evangelische theologen de uitdagingen van contextualisatie – de noodzaak om het christelijk geloof uit te drukken in en met oog op een specifieke context – veronachtzaamden. Deze dissertatie onderzoekt de validiteit van deze kritiek door het werk te bestuderen van drie theologen die een belangrijke rol hebben gespeeld in de eerste decennia van de AEA en breed gezien worden als vertegenwoordigers van Afrikaanse evangelische theologie: Byang Henry Kato (1936–1975), Tokunboh Adeyemo (1944–2010) en Tite Tiénou (1949–)
Real slavery and the earliest Palestinian Jesus movement
Get PDFIn studies about slavery and the New Testament, references to the Gospels are underrepresented
compared to the Pauline letters. Moreover, focusing on studies about slavery and
the Jesus movement in the Gospels, there is a clear unbalance between the representation of the
real slavery compared to metaphorical. Based on historical analysis, memory studies and
aligning with the perspectives of the ‘Next Quest for the historical Jesus’, this current research
tries to (re)explore the traditions from the Gospels where Jesus might have been in touch with
real slavery. Consequently, by analysing Jesus’ relation to wealth and his proclamation of the
Kingdom of God, this work intends to find what Jesus’ answer could be to the slaves. After an
in-depth analysis of the context of his ministry and the exegesis of the concept of the Kingdom
of Father, this research presumably points to an incredibly intriguing novelty. Namely, that
there might be a perspective in which Jesus’ mission was to the slaves
