    Electromagnetic Torque Transient Control System of a Generic DFIG Wind Turbine Model

    The Standard IEC 61400-27-1 intends to cover the current needs of power system operators regarding transient stability analysis of power systems. It provides generic wind turbine models adaptable to any vendor topology and simulation software, simple enough to work under RMS simulation. These models are developed under certain assumptions, trying to strike a balance between simplicity and accuracy. In these terms, depending on the flexibility or stability of the real topology, some behaviors or magnitudes may be dismissed, aiming to decrease the complexity of the model. Nevertheless, this is not the case for IEC Type 3 wind turbine model, which tries to emulate the behavior of magnitudes which are not usually relevant for stakeholders, such as aerodynamic response or electromagnetic torque. This work focuses on the ability of emulating the electromagnetic torque response under voltage dip conditions, illustrating its transient control possibilities in a generic Type 3 wind turbine model. The decrease of this magnitude, due to the voltage drop during the fault, as well as its recovery, can be defined in detail thanks to the complex control model. Hence, this paper may result of interest for those stakeholders involved in the development and adjustment of generic wind turbine model

    Reserve procurement and flexibility services in power systems with high renewable capacity: Effects of integration on different market designs

    This paper investigates di erent reserve issues inspired by the European situation, focusing on both the moment when reserves are procured and the degree of coordination among Transmission System Operators (TSOs) in that procurement. We present three scheduling models formulated as stochastic programs that represent the day-ahead energy market, the reserve procurement, and the real-time balancing market in a renewable-dominated power system. Two of the proposed models are inspired by reserve procurement mechanisms currently applied in Europe, where reserves are committed either before (Model 1) or after (Model 2) the clearing of the day-ahead energy market. Then, we use as benchmark a third model in which energy and reserve capacity are co-optimized (Model 3). In all models, we consider the procurement of both conventional and upward/downward reserves. We also assess the impact of these organizations on market participants' remuneration and test the impact of cross-border constraints as those applying in the European power system. The case study is based on the IEEE 24-node RTS, considering the uncertainty in renewable power production and demand. Our results show that Model 1 is the least e cient market design as it leads to a misallocation of the available capacity, while Model 2 becomes as e cient as Model 3 when the TSOs procure reserve in a coordinated way. Finally, a coordinated procurement of reserves reduces the system operating costs in all models

    Adaptation and Validation of the Spanish Version of the DOS Questionnaire for the Detection of Orthorexic Nervosa Behavior

    Introduction Orthorexia nervosa, a term used to describe an obsession with healthy eating, has been shown to have major health implications for those affected. The aim of this study was to validate a Spanish version of the Du¨sseldorfer Ortorexie Skala (DOS), a questionnaire for the detection of orthorexic behavior. Methods A cross-sectional study comprising a total sample of 492 Spanish participants recruited from the University of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain, and randomly divided into two groups. The following tools were applied: the DOS and the Eating Disorder Inventory (EDI-2). The factorial structures were analyzed using exploratory and confirmatory factorial analysis. Results The internal consistency of the DOS-ES was α = .841. The exploratory factor analysis has revealed the existence of a single factor with factor loadings ranging from .508 to .802. A confirmatory factor analysis was applied to the second half of the random sample in order to confirm the factor solution. Conclusion The Spanish adaptation of the DOS-ES is proven to be a reliable and valid questionnaire for evaluating the obsessive tendency towards healthy eating among university students

    Effect of thermal ageing on the impact and flexural damage behaviour of carbon fibre-reinforced epoxy laminates

    Most of the composite materials that are used in aerospace structures have been manufactured using a thermostable matrix, as epoxy resin. The region of stability of these polymers is defined by the glass transition temperature (T g ). However, operating temperatures close and above the T g can cause a variation in the properties of the polymer and consequently, modify the mechanical properties of the composite material. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the failure mechanisms that occur in the material in order to ensure stability and durability. The effect of temperature and time of exposure on the impact and flexural mechanical responses of carbon/epoxy composites are studied in this work. For that purpose, ageing treatments at temperatures below and above the T g have been considered and then, impact and flexural tests have been performed. It was observed that thermal ageing cause two different effects: at temperatures below the T g , there is an increase of the maximum strength because of a post-curing effect; however, the mechanical properties decrease at higher temperatures of thermal ageing due to the thermo-oxidation of the epoxy resin and the loss of adhesion in the matrix/fibre interface

    Electro Fenton removal of clopyralid in soil washing effluents

    The removal of a commercial herbicide, based on clopyralid, by means of Electro-Fenton (EF) was studied using a soil washing effluent obtained using synthetic ground water as washing fluid. From the results, it was observed that the degradation and mineralization yields of clopyralid were high, even without the addition of supporting electrolyte. The groundwater could be then used as a sustainable supporting electrolyte. The influence of the minerals constituents, the current and the ferrous ions regeneration was evaluated. The highest hydrogen peroxide production was achieved working at 200 mA but regeneration of ferrous ions was not efficient at this current. Iodide ions were one of the main responsible in the EF efficiency decrease due to their reaction with the produced hydrogen peroxide. Electrochemical study proved that clopyralid was not electroactive and that its degradation was mainly due to radical oxidation. Long duration electrolysis carried out at 200 mA in groundwater provided an improvement of the solution biodegradability after 480 min that can be linked to a significant increase in the carboxylic acids production. These results support the feasibility of applying an EF process in order to carry out a subsequent biological mineralization.Se estudió la remoción de un herbicida comercial, a base de clopiralida, mediante Electro-Fenton (EF) utilizando un efluente de lavado de suelos obtenido utilizando agua subterránea sintética como líquido de lavado. A partir de los resultados, se observó que los rendimientos de degradación y mineralización de clopiralida eran altos, incluso sin la adición de electrolito de soporte. El agua subterránea podría usarse luego como un electrolito de soporte sostenible. Se evaluó la influencia de los componentes minerales, la corriente y la regeneración de iones ferrosos. La producción más alta de peróxido de hidrógeno se logró trabajando a 200 mA, pero la regeneración de iones ferrosos no fue eficiente a esta corriente. YoduroLos iones fueron uno de los principales responsables de la disminución de la eficiencia de la EF debido a su reacción con el peróxido de hidrógeno producido. El estudio electroquímico demostró que la clopiralida no era electroactiva y que su degradación se debía principalmente a la oxidación radical. La electrólisis de larga duración llevada a cabo a 200 mA en agua subterránea proporcionó una mejora de la biodegradabilidad de la solución después de 480 min que puede estar relacionada con un aumento significativo en la producción deácidos carboxílicos. Estos resultados apoyan la viabilidad de aplicar un proceso de EF para llevar a cabo una mineralización biológica posterior

    A partir de la literatura existente acerca de las prácticas estéticas del caminar y el pasear, este artículo trata de elaborar un aparato crítico para advertir de qué modo el dispositivo smartphone condiciona al individuo en el medio natural y urbano. En consecuencia, la hiperconexión en red intensifica tanto la profusión de estímulos propia de la experiencia urbana, como la privación sensorial de los ritmos acelerados conforme a la autodisciplina temporal. Al contrario, el caminar enfatiza la experiencia de lo próximo, los tiempos lentos, la plena sensorialidad y la creativa subversión de la soledad y el extravío.On the basis of the existing literature on aesthetic practices of walking and strolling, this article seeks to create a critical apparatus in order to determine how smartphones condition individuals in urban and natural settings. Hyperconnectivity intensifies both the profusion of the stimuli characteristic of the urban experience and the sensory deprivation of rapid rhythms due to temporal self-discipline. Conversely, walking emphasizes the experience of one’s immediate surroundings, a slow pace, sensoriality and the creative subversion of loneliness and being lost

    Dificultades de lectura en niños con Trastorno Específico del Lenguaje

    El presente estudio examinó el rendimiento en lectura de los niños con Trastorno Específico del Lenguaje (TEL). Treinta niños con TEL y 32 niños con desarrollo normal del lenguaje, equilibrados en género, edad cronológica e inteligencia, fueron evaluados mediante el PROLEC-R. Los resultados de los ANOVAs indicaron que ambos grupos difieren en el rendimiento en lectura. Como grupo, los niños con TEL tuvieron significativamente un rendimiento inferior, tanto en la exactitud como en el tiempo de la lectura de palabras y pseudopalabras, por lo que tenían una menos eficacia de lectura. En la misma línea, el rendimiento de los niños con TEL en comprensión literal e inferencial también fue inferior al de los niños con desarrollo típico. Sin embargo, un análisis individualizado indicó que algunos niños con TEL tienen un rendimiento normal en la exactitud y velocidad de lectura de palabras y de pseudopalabras (entre el 50% y el 70%). Sin embargo, en el caso de la comprensión lectora, la mayoría de los niños con TEL tuvieron un rendimiento significativamente inferior (87%), aunque alrededor del 13% tuvieron un rendimiento dentro del rango de normalidad. Además, los análisis de regresión jerárquica mostraron que diferentes medidas lingüísticas - memoria secuencial auditiva, comprensión auditiva y eficacia en la lectura de palabras - tienen un peso predictivo de la comprensión lectora.The present study examined the reading performance of children with specific language impairment (SLI). Thirty children with SLI and 32 children with normal language development, matched in gender, chronological age and intelligence, were evaluated through PROLEC-R. The results of the ANOVAs indicated that both groups differ in reading performance. As a group, children with SLI had significantly lower performance, both in the accuracy and speed of words and pseudowords reading and, so they had less reading efficiency. Along the same lines, the performance of children with SLI in literal and inferential comprehension was also lower than that of children with typical development. However, an individualized analysis indicated that some children with SLI have a normal performance in the accuracy and speed of reading words and pseudowords (between 50% and 70%). However, in the case of reading comprehension, the majority of children with SLI had a significantly lower performance (87%), although about 13% had a performance within the range of normality. Hierarchical regression analysis showed that different linguistic measures -auditory comprehension, sequential auditory memory and word reading efficacy- played a predictive role in reading comprehension

El papel cultural es uno de los principales desafíos que tiene hoy ante sí las bibliotecas universitarias para reforzar y aumentar su cometido en la sociedad. La ley 10/2017 de la Lectura, del Libro y de las Bibliotecas, vincula el papel cultural de las bibliotecas universitarias con el fomento de la lectura. Construir hábitos lectores genera éxito académico y el desarrollo de ciudadanos más críticos. En este sentido, la promoción de la lectura es una de las funciones que están asumiendo actualmente las bibliotecas universitarias a través de los Clubes de lectura. El Club de la Biblioteca del Campus de Albacete, ofrece este servicio a la comunidad universitaria y, además desde hace tres años, ofrece a sus lectores la posibilidad de salir de las paredes físicas de la biblioteca, para recorrer los lugares citados en las obras literarias leídas.Communication presented by a member of the Library of the University of Castilla-La Mancha (campus of Albacete), in the III Conference of G9 Libraries on good practices in attention to spaces and users, organized by the UCLM Library Service in Almagro (Ciudad Real) on October 3 and 4, 2019. The cultural role is one of the main challenges facing university libraries today to reinforce and increase their role in society. Law 10/2017 of Reading, Books and Libraries links the cultural role of university libraries with the promotion of reading. Building reading habits generates academic success and the development of more critical citizens. In this sense, the promotion of reading is one of the functions that university libraries are currently assuming through Reading Clubs. The Club of the Library of the Campus of Albacete, offers this service to the university community and, in addition for three years, offers its readers the possibility of leaving the physical walls of the library, to explore the places mentioned in the literary works read
