Quantum Readiness in Cybersecurity Education: A Framework for Preparing the Next Generation in the Post-Quantum Era
The rapid advancement of quantum computing represents both a revolutionary opportunity and an existential threat to contemporary cybersecurity infrastructure. While quantum computers promise unprecedented computational capabilities, they simultaneously pose a critical risk to current cryptographic protocols that protect sensitive data, financial systems, and national security frameworks. Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) standards, recently formalized by NIST in 2024, provide a roadmap for quantum-resistant encryption. However, a significant gap exists between technological advancement and educational preparedness, with most cybersecurity curricula failing to adequately prepare students for the quantum era. This paper addresses the urgent need for comprehensive quantum readiness in cybersecurity education across all learning levels. We propose the Quantum Readiness Framework (QRF), a multi-dimensional pedagogical model designed to integrate quantum threat awareness, post-quantum cryptographic proficiency, and AI-enhanced learning methodologies into existing cybersecurity curricula. The framework encompasses five core dimensions: Quantum Threat Awareness (QTA), Post-Quantum Cryptographic Proficiency (PQCP), Quantum-Safe Implementation Practices (QSIP), AI-Enhanced Learning Methodologies (AELM), and Continuous Curriculum Evolution (CCE). Unlike existing educational models that address quantum computing or cybersecurity in isolation, the QRF offers an integrated approach that spans undergraduate foundational literacy, graduate technical specialization, and professional workforce retraining. By synthesizing insights from current cybersecurity education standards, quantum computing literacy initiatives, and emerging AI-driven pedagogical approaches, this framework offers practical implementation strategies for universities and training institutions. The paper contributes to the academic discourse by providing the first comprehensive educational framework specifically designed to prepare future cybersecurity professionals for the quantum threat landscape, with particular emphasis on leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance learning outcomes and curriculum adaptability
Empowering Teacher Retention: Informing Leadership Strategies for Educational Leaders Based on Research and Exemplary Practices
Leadership practices that foster teacher commitment remain underexamined in empirical literature, despite their documented influence on educator stability and school performance (Berry et al., 2021; Flores & Shuls, 2024). Guided by Bolman and Deal’s (2017) Four-Frame Model, Herzberg’s (1959) Motivation-Hygiene Theory, and Rock’s (2008) SCARF framework, this mixed-methods study explored how leadership behaviors influence teacher retention in K–12 contexts. The research was framed by four questions: (1) What leadership practices are perceived as contributing to teacher retention? (2) How do educational leaders describe the implementation of these practices? (3) How do K-12 public school leaders implement effective leadership practices to improved teacher retention? and (4) What are the key challenges faced by K-12 public school leaders in implementing retention-focused leadership practices?
Qualitative data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed thematically using Braun and Clarke’s (2006) approach. Quantitative data, gathered via a leadership perception survey, were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics by a third-party statistician (Speelman & McGann, 2020). The findings revealed five key leadership behaviors perceived to support retention: emotional support, staff recognition, empowerment and autonomy, leader visibility, and access to professional growth opportunities. While teacher survey responses demonstrated favorable perceptions of these practices, they also indicated inconsistencies in execution. Conversely, leader surveys yielded uniformly high scores, suggesting a potential perception gap—a finding aligned with prior studies on leadership self-assessment and social desirability bias (Fisher, 2019).
Structural barriers such as administrative workload, shifting priorities, and lack of systemic support were identified as factors limiting consistent implementation of retention-oriented leadership (Dixon & Francis, 2020; Durnen, 2021). Teachers consistently emphasized that leadership, more than compensation or workload, was the determining factor in their commitment to remain. Based on these findings, the study proposes a Leadership for Retention Framework. Although no formal product was created, this proposed framework outlines key components including data-tracking systems, reflective leadership protocols, and embedded supports—that could inform future development of school-based tools to improve leadership alignment and strengthen teacher retention

Fly-Ins that Soar: Making Counselor Visits Meaningful
Dylan Klim, senior assistant director of Admission at Lynn University, Rosemary Martin Edwards, Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions at PCACAC (Potomac & Chesapeake Association for College Admission Counseling), Randy Stamm, School Counselor at Hackensack High School, and Myra Castro, College Admissions Consultant at Castro College Consulting, presented “Fly-Ins that Soar: Making Counselor Visits Meaningful,” at the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) conference in Columbus, Ohio. The session highlighted strategies to maximize the impact of counselor engagement programs.
Counselor fly-in programs and campus visits are essential tools for fostering strong relationships between high school counselors, IECs, and college admission offices. This session brings together perspectives from all sides of the desk — college representatives and high school counselors and IECs — to share insights on what makes these programs truly effective. Speakers will discuss best practices, common pitfalls, and innovative strategies for creating meaningful, informative, and engaging experiences. Suggestions for how program participants can maximize their time on fly-in programs will be discussed Attendees will leave with actionable takeaways to improve their own counselor engagement initiatives
Lumps: Jamie\u27s Journey through Cancer
Imagine this: you’re weeks away from graduating, dreams within reach, when a lump in your neck begins to throb, a quiet warning of chaos to come. For Jamie Sabeeney, this was no fleeting fear… it was the moment her life unraveled. Diagnosed with stage 2B Hodgkin’s Lymphoma just four weeks before her big day, her future dissolved into a haze of medical tests, fear, and unanswered questions.
Jamie knows the weight of that uncertainty. In Lumps: Jamie\u27s Journey Through Cancer, she lays bare the raw reality of her fight, the shock of a lump dismissed as a vaccine side effect, the migraines that hit like “shockwaves of pain,” the waves of panic that left her “lost in a sea of confusion.” She’s felt the desperation, typing out pleas to a doctor after hours, trembling fingers searching for hope. If you’ve ever faced a health crisis, or stood by someone who has, her story will echo your own.
But through the storm, Jamie found something powerful: resilience. Hope flickered in unexpected places, the kindness of complete strangers, the steadiness of loved ones, the courage to share her truth. Lumps isn’t just a cancer journey; it’s a lifeline. It’s proof that even in the darkest moments, you’re not alone… and that strength can rise from the ashes of fear.
