Bridging the Digital Divide: Enhancing Digital Literacy in Florida\u27s GED® Education Program
This dissertation addressed the critical need for mandated digital literacy courses in Florida\u27s General Educational Development (GED®) programs. As digital skills become increasingly essential for success in education, employment, and daily life, GED® recipients often face significant disadvantages due to a lack of digital proficiency. The findings revealed positive results between digital literacy and employability, emphasizing the transformative potential of integrating digital skills training into GED® curricula. The research highlighted the barriers to acquiring digital skills faced by adult learners, including limited access to technology, varying skill levels, and insufficient instructional support. This study advocated for curriculum updates that align with the demands of the contemporary job market by proposing a comprehensive digital literacy framework grounded in andragogy learning theory. The results highlighted the importance of equipping GED® students with the digital competencies necessary to thrive in a technology-driven society, ultimately promoting greater equity and opportunity for underserved populations. This dissertation contributes to adult education by providing actionable recommendations for policymakers, educators, and program administrators. It calls for integrating digital literacy as a core component of GED® programs, ensuring that adult learners are prepared to meet the challenges of the 21st-century workforce

Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education: A Case Study of Faculty Teaching Methodologies at a Private University
This research study examined the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education from the perspective of the faculty of a private university. It inquired into the impact of AI on pedagogical methods, administrative procedures, and ethical values. Qualitative case study methodology and in-depth semi-structured interviews were designed and conducted with faculty from four academic departments. Responses related to impressions, challenges, and opportunities for AI integration were gathered. The study findings from qualitative and quantitative data analysis indicated that AI is perceived to help improve educational outcomes with student-personalized learning pathways through streamlined administrative processes. The study revealed that participating faculty expressed positive perceptions toward AI-enabled personalization. However, the study results highlighted several key themes: shortcomings in technology infrastructure, professional educational training development needs, and ethical considerations. Faculty highlighted in almost unanimous agreement the importance of maintaining pedagogical autonomy and human-centered teaching methods, particularly regarding algorithmic bias and educational equity. The study found critical ethical considerations centered on data privacy, algorithmic fairness, and protocols for academic integrity. This study advances theoretical knowledge of AI integration within higher education by articulating a new framework for ethical implementation that brings to light a balance between technological progress and pedagogical integrity. In conclusion, this study provides evidence-based recommendations for institutional policy development and faculty professional development programs regarding responsible AI adoption. The findings of this study improved the building literature on educational technology integration while offering practical insight into institutions of higher education currently in this technological transition. Qualitative case study methodology was utilized to conduct in-depth semi-informal interviews with faculty across four academic departments
Creating Therapeutic Stories Through Case Conceptualizations in Couple Therapy
Psychotherapists have a way of understanding how or why the client is having difficulties and what might happen in therapy for the client to overcome those difficulties. We call this the therapist’s case conceptualization. Case conceptualizations tend to answer the what, why, and how questions of problem formation and resolution. Most therapists enact their case conceptualization through creating a therapeutic story that frames what is going on and what would make sense for change to happen. Given that people story their lives, creating a therapeutic story helps clients to more readily understand, and then enact, this new story framework

Leveraging AI for Faculty Well-Being: A Path to Balance and Enjoyment in Higher Education
In the fast-paced landscape of academia, faculty members face increasing demands in both teaching and administrative duties. AI offers promising solutions to streamline these tasks, enhancing faculty well-being and improving their work-life balance. This presentation will draw from the Microsoft and LinkedIn 2024 Work Trend Index, which found that 83% of AI users experience greater work satisfaction and productivity, as well as recent graduate surveys indicating strong support for AI integration in educational settings. The session will present practical AI applications to alleviate faculty workloads, such as AI-driven assignment development, rubric creation, and case study generation. By implementing these tools, faculty can reclaim valuable time and engage in higher-level tasks, ultimately fostering a more enjoyable work experience. The presentation will include a step-by-step walkthrough of AI tools and strategies for everyday academic tasks, supported by evidence from the latest studies
