Semantic shifts in verbalization of the ethical concept “boon” in electronic mass-media
The relevance of the article is conditioned by the specific role of the Internet space nowadays. The authors analyze the changes of ethical semantics of the concept “boon” on the material of lexical units in modern electronic mass-media compared with the semantic field represented in explanatory dictionaries. On the material of explanatory dictionaries of Old Church Slavonic and Russian languages the authors conducted a diachronic analysis, described ethical semantic components of the concept, pointed out always actual meanings “kindness”, “gifts of the Holy Spirit”, “love”, “mercy”, “benefaction”. The novelty of the article is in pointing out the changes in the name of the concept - lexeme “boon”. The authors showed that abstract senses are increasing in its semantics - “everything, that is good”. But in the end of the XXth ethical senses actualize again, the senses which were characteristic for the concept in Old Russian period and were ideologically deactualized in the beginning and in the middle of the century. The analysis of modern electronic mass-media, which greatly influence national consciousness nowadays, showed that in this material the lexeme “boon” appears to be semantically incomplete, realizes additional function and only historically reminds us of one of the most important concepts of Russian language worldview. Therefore, we need “ethical censorship” in relation to the words verbalizing significant concepts of Russian mentality. The results of the research can be used in creating texts of different styles and genres for mass-media, in teaching Russian (as a non-native and native language), in releasing forensic linguistic expertise
Lexicon of Migrating Ideas in the Slavic Balkans, 18th-21st Centuries. Volume 4. Modernity, Secularization, Progress
Czwarty tom obszernej (dziesięcioczęściowej) monografii, opracowanej przez slawistów polskich (przy współpracy uczonych z kilku ośrodków zagranicznych) w ramach grantu NCN OPUS (2014/13/B/HS2/01057). Całości nadana została forma leksykonu, którego główny korpus składa się z haseł-artykułów na temat historii 27 wybranych idei najpierw antycypujących, a następnie modelujących procesy modernizacyjne w regionie: agraryzm, anarchizm, ewolucja, humanizm, historia, kapitalizm, klerykalizacja, konfesje, konserwatyzm, kształcenie, kultura, liberalizm, naród, nowoczesność, ojczyzna, oświata, oświecenie, polityka, postęp, racjonalizm, reformacja, religia, rewolucja, sekularyzacja, socjalizm, tradycja, uniwersalizm. W tomie czwartym prezentujemy opracowania trzech idei -
nowoczesności, sekularyzacji i postępu - które leżą u podstaw światowych imaginariów politycznych, kulturowych, a nawet religijnych. Czytelnik znajdzie tu wiele syntetycznie wyrażonych oryginalnych, opartych na źródłach przemyśleń badaczy na temat zmagań kultur południowosłowiańskich z nowoczesnościąThe fourth volume of the extensive (ten-volume) monograph by Polish Slavic studies scholars (with contributions from scholars from a number of foreign research centres), made possible by an NCN OPUS grant (2014/13/B/HS2/01057). In terms of form, the monograph is a lexicon, the main body of which consists of entries-articles on the history of 27 selected ideas that anticipated and shaped the processes of modernization in the region: agrarianism, anarchism, capitalism, clericalization, confessions, conservatism, culture, education, enlightenment, evolution, history, homeland, humanism, liberalism, modernity, nation, politics, progress, rationalism, reformation, religion, revolution, schooling, secularization, socialism, tradition, and universalism. Their semantics, changeable as it was in response to local conditions, was investigated separately for each of the seven current states of the southern Slavdom: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia. Volume 4 presents the three ideas – modernity, secularization, and progress – that are at the foundations of global political, cultural and even religious imagery. The book contains many synthetically expressed, original, and source-based insights on the southern Slavic cultures’ struggles with modernity.Monografia powstała w ramach projektu badawczego pt. Językowy obraz świata zdehumanizowanego: na przykładzie obrazu chorych umysłowo w powieści Elfriede Jelinek "Die Klavierspielerin" i jej przekładzie na język polski autorstwa Ryszarda Turczyna
The article analyzes a fragment of the novel Die Klavierspielerin by Elfriede Jelinek and its translation into Polish by Ryszard Turczyn. Jelinek’s novel can be regarded as a social novel, in which the author performs not only an analysis of individual fate but also of the society, where an individual is treated as a “social product”. The analysis of the human and social condition takes place in Jelinek’s work through a language that mercilessly reveals the way the protagonists think, as well as social mechanisms. The article shows how Jelinek’s language reveals contemporary dehumanization in relation to the elderly and the mentally ill. Based on the theory of cognitive metaphors, the author analyzes textual worldview: she assumes after Lakoff and Johnson, and indirectly also after Jelinek, that linguistic metaphors are manifestations of conceptual metaphors. At the same time, the article attempts to investigate whether and how much this linguistic worldview has been reproduced in the Polish translation of the book

Koncept SANTÉ w języku francuskim
The article follows the methodology of the Axiological Lexicon of Slavs and their Neighbours in analysing the French cultural concept of santé ‘health’. The concept has been analysed on the basis of systemic (lexicographic) data, questionnaires, and texts. They propose a shortened cognitive definition, where santé is defined as a state or the functioning of an organism or a group (sometimes also another living organism, organisation, or process); it has a physical, psychological, and/or intellectual dimension; it is an equilibrium. When one has santé, it is not noticed: a person feels well. However, its absence is noticed, when one becomes ill. Santé is strength, goodness (wealth), the possibility of doing many things. In order to maintain santé, one must do many things. The environment can have a positive and negative effect on it. In contemporary French journalistic discourse santé is not only an individual but also a social value: health is in the field of interest of state authorities and international organisations. It is a good in its own right but although it is natural, it is not given once and for all: one must make an effort to have it
Внутренняя форма слова и ее реализация в древних славянских текстах
The article presents an analysis of how the word’s internal form participates in the construction of text, specifically of whether its historical memory joins elements of text. In focus is the transparent motivation of the word, which participates in the emergence of the figura etymologica construction, as well as de-etymologized motivation that serves to establish links within the textual space. The study was conducted on the basis of Old Slavic and Church Slavonic texts
