The Evolution of Technological Trajectories – Responsible Innovation and Regional Industrial Path Development in the Salmon Farming Industry
No full textThis dissertation addresses a fundamental tension in regional industrial evolution: how can evolutionary processes that typically follow path-dependent trajectories be directed toward sustainable outcomes? While evolutionary economic geography explains how regional industries develop through seemingly neutral processes of variation, selection, and retention, it has struggled to incorporate normative goals like sustainability into its theoretical framework. Through a comprehensive analysis of Norway's salmon farming industry, this dissertation examines how evolutionary processes can be deliberately oriented toward sustainable development while remaining subject to path-dependent dynamics. Drawing on Evolutionary Economic Geography (Path Dependence Theory and Generalized Darwinism), Responsible Innovation, regional technological trajectories, the dissertation reveals specific mechanisms through which established trajectories can either enable or constrain the emergence of sustainable alternatives through institutional complementarities and resource competition. Second, it extends path development theory by identifying how regional institutional thickness and multi-scalar interactions create differentiated selection environments that determine the transformation potential of new technological trajectories and shape the processes of responsible innovation. This explains why similar innovations lead to different sustainability outcomes across regions. Third, it enriches responsible innovation frameworks by specifying how sociomaterial contingencies - the interplay between material conditions (e.g., natural resources, technologies, infrastructure) and social processes (e.g., institutions, agency, networks) - shape path development (Njøs et al., 2024), shape the directionality of regional industrial development toward or away from sustainability. I 2024 blei det registrert 204 nye tilfelle av barn med kreft i Noreg. Kreft er den hyppigaste
dødsårsaka hos barn mellom 1 og 14 år, men har ikkje vore organisert som fagfelt tidlegare.
Barn kan kjenne på stress, frykt, ubehag, usikkerheit og engstelse ved sjukehusinnlegging.
Sjukepleiarar spelar ei sentral rolle i å fremje meistring i kvardagen til barn som går inn i siste
del av livet.
Problemstilling:
«Korleis kan sjukepleiar på sjukehus fremje meistring i kvardagen til barn med kreft i palliativ
fase?».
Metode: Oppgåva har litteraturstudie som metode der det er nytta seks ulike
forskingartiklar som enten er kvalitativ, kvantitativ, eller oversiktsartikkel. Det er
gjennomført forskingssøk i databasane Academic Search Elite, Medline og CINAHL. Relevant
litteratur, retningslinjer og offentlege dokument blei saman med forsking nytta i oppgåva.
Funn og konklusjon:
Funn viser at barn i palliativ fase står ovanfor store fysiske og psykiske utfordringar, og at
meistring er knytt til kjensle av tryggheit, medverknad og oppleving av kontroll. Det blir
belyst viktigheita av leik og aktivitetar som meistringsstrategiar, samt implementering av
sjukehusklovnar, leiketerapi og direkte involvering frå helsepersonell i leik og aktivitetar. Det
blir også belyst at sentrale sjukepleiarhandlingar inkluderer kommunikasjon,
relasjonsbygging og å gi barnet rom for medverknad som resulterer til kjensle av meistring
og kontroll.
