    A quarry for the construction of a Roman camp next to the Celtiberian city of Deza during the Sertorian Wars (Soria, Spain)

    Through an interdisciplinary investigation, a hastily exploited individual quarry of limestone is studied. The quarry was made all at once for the construction of a nearby military camp to improve the defence of a remarkable Celtiberian city during the Sertorian Wars. This is a perfect Roman military engineering project: on the one hand, the geological deposit was exploited selectively, differentiating the areas of extraction of large and small blocks of stone, according to the needs of the work. On the other hand, the material was transported by means of small roads along a carefully studied and laid out road of about 600 m in length and of clear Roman origin. The archaeological evidence shows the existence of a large camp that, according to previous surveys, adopts the known classical models of rectangular plans and the typology of Roman construction. In the camp environment, there are enough scattered remains that seem to point to a battlefield. All this indicates the importance of the primitive Celtiberian settlement, which is justified by an analysis of the territory by the existence of springs of high guarantee for human water supply, livestock and irrigation. The existence of silver mines is another added economic value. Due to the predominance in the monetary findings of the mint of Titiakos, the possibility is raised that the Celtiberian city was linked to the ethnic group of the Titos indicating their active participation during the Sertorian Wars

    Las redes sociales, los repositorios, revistas digitales, los blogs y microblogs, las bibliotecas, hemerotecas y otras plataformas propias a internet conforman un nutrido grupo de herramientas on line que facilitan a nivel global el conocimiento y difusión de la arquitectura. Sobre el apoyo de imágenes icónicas de arquitectura como reclamo más importante aportan atractivos contenidos interactivos y utilidades participativas que llegan a una amplísima población universalizando y popularizando su comunicación desde estos soportes virtuales. Sin embargo, en ocasiones, sus intereses empresariales conducen a un consumo adulterado de estos medios, priorizando aspectos cuantitativos, en detrimento de aquellos más cualitativos que favorecen la adecuada comprensión de la arquitectura. El presente artículo repasa algunos aspectos clave en la difusión, información, divulgación y comunicación de la arquitectura mediante los social media y las redes sociales.Social networks, repositories, digital magazines, blogs and microblogs, libraries, newspaper archives and other Internet platforms make up a large group of online tools that facilitate knowledge and dissemination of architecture on a global level. On the support of iconic images of architecture as the most important claim, they provide attractive interactive content and participatory utilities that reach a very large population, universalizing and popularizing their communication from these virtual media. However, on occasions, their business interests lead to an adulterated consumption of these media, prioritizing quantitative aspects, to the detriment of those more qualitative ones that favor an adequate understanding of architecture.     Designing a Large-Scale Immersive Visit in Architecture, Engineering, and Construction

    Throughout history, tools for engineering in the building industry have evolved. Due to the arrival of Industry 4.0, Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software have replaced the usage of pens, pencils, and paper in the design process. This paper describes the work required to design a large-scale immersive visit of a district under construction in a suburban area of Greater Paris, France. As part of this real estate project, called LaVallée, we have access to its city information model: all the BIMs of the works to be carried out including roads, terrain, street furniture, fountains, and landscaping. This paper describes all the technical operations necessary for the design of an immersive 3D model with a high level of detail of the neighborhood with its surroundings. The objective of this technical report was to provide practitioners with feedback on such an achievement based on industrial-level data. The development of the city model begins with the registration of all the BIMs from different firms in a common Geographic Information System: this gives the opportunity to confront the operational requirement of a construction phase and the actual current practice of architecture firms. A first prototype was developed using the archviz tool TwinMotion. In order to increase the realism of the model, we describe the creation of a pipeline in Unreal Engine with the automated tasks of material and mesh replacement and the lighting and landscape configuration. The main contribution of this work is to give relevant experience on building such a large-scale model, with the Python script when possible, as well as the necessary manual steps. It is a valuable contribution to the making of large-scale immersive visits with a high level of detail and their requirements

    Coworking spaces (CWSs), as modern social work environments, provide flexible work infrastructure and dedicated space to facilitate professional and social interaction, which was found to stimulate entrepreneurship and creativity, creating well-constructed opportunities for social support. The number of CWS has been increasing rapidly around the world, particularly since the Great Recession of 2008. The incidence of COVID-19 pandemic has made teleworking the only possible reality for the operation of many companies and freelancers. However, as confinement restrictions soften, an increase in the need for coworking spaces has been observed since, in many cases, teleworking at home is not possible, it is not the most efficient mode of work, and there is a desire to separate home from work-life. In this context of postpandemic return to the office, new opportunities are being created, and CWS can become an attractive and lucrative business model and real estate strategy. The study presented in this paper is focused on the city of Valencia (Eastern Spain), which is considered to be the third most important city in Spain, having a population of nearly 800,000 inhabitants and a size of 135 km2. The manuscript presents the results of a specific survey conducted both to users and coworking managers, and based on those results, the optimal locations for possible future coworking spaces using a geographical information system and statistical population information are defined

However, traditional hygrothermal evaluation methods based on stationary methods do not consider many of the factors that affect building envelopes. That is why models and tools capable of approaching in a more faithful way the dynamic phenomena faced by buildings are required.     La ejecución de cubiertas planas de tierra ha sido una técnica frecuente en el Mediterráneo. El Campo de Cartagena no queda ajeno a esta práctica, empleándose una tierra local conocida como láguena. Aunque las cubiertas planas de tierra han sido objeto de diver-sos estudios, ninguno ha abordado de forma conjunta y monográfica sus características materiales y constructivas en esta comarca. El objetivo del artículo es identificar sus particularidades, tanto materiales, mediante la caracterización química y mineralógica de la láguena, como técnicas, a partir de las soluciones constructivas identificadas. La metodología seguida se fundamenta en una in-vestigación histórica, una toma de datos in situ y un estudio de laboratorio. Los resultados confirman que la láguena procede de la meteorización de la filita, atribuyendo su coloración violácea al óxido férrico. Además, corroboran su empleo desde la Antigüedad hasta el s.XX y han permitido establecer similitudes constructivas con otras zonas del ámbito español
