    No full text
Forty Years after the Villa Madama Agreement: Considerations from the Viewpoint of the Relationships between the State and Religious Denominations Other than Catholicism. In a Conference in which the gaze is set primarily on the relationships and negotiations with the Catholic Church forty years after the signing of the Villa Madama Agreement, the essay conversely focuses on the Author’s experience as President of the Commission for the Agreements with Religious Denominations and for Religious Freedom: in the firm belief that it is impossible to assume that what unfolds with the Holy See or the Italian Bishops’ Conference is impervious to and rigidly separated from what happens, at the same time and in parallel, in respect to other confessional realities which are present and operate in our country

Altered motor function during daily activities in patients eligible for high tibial osteotomy is primarily driven by knee varus deformity

    Get PDF
Patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA) and varus deformity present altered gait parameters, especially a large knee adduction moment that is predictive of OA progression. The distinct role of each coexisting parameter, such as OA grade, varus deformity, and previous meniscectomy, in the setting of high tibial osteotomy is not clear. Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyze the motor function parameters in patients eligible for high tibial osteotomy during walking, stair ascending, and stair descending, and to evaluate the effect of OA grade, varus deformity, and meniscectomy. Methods A total of 52 patients with knee OA and varus deformity participated in this study, including 22 with previous partial meniscectomy, alongside 20 healthy controls. Imaging and motion-capture data during walking, stair ascending, and descending were acquired. Subject characteristics, joint kinematics, joint kinetics, and electromyography on-off activities were compared to evaluate statistically significant differences between the patients and healthy groups. Additionally, multiple linear regression evaluated the relationships between OA grade, varus deformity, and previous meniscectomy with motor function parameters. Results The patients group showed significantly higher knee adduction and rotation moments, lower hip adduction and ankle inversion, and higher knee adduction and trunk flexion compared with the healthy group, as well as significantly increased biceps femoris activity. In addition, larger varus deformity showed a more marked effect on the major motor function parameters compared with OA grade and previous meniscectomy, especially during walking. Conclusion Patients eligible for high tibial osteotomy move with altered motor function during daily activities, and the coexisting factors of OA grade, varus malalignment, and previous meniscectomy have different impacts, with varus deformity primarily affecting motor function. These findings help to detect the target that should be considered priority in the treatment of high tibial osteotomy, and highlight the importance of realigning the lower limb to possibly restore motor function

A revisited correction to the halo mass function for local-type primordial non-Gaussianity

    Get PDF
We investigate the effect of primordial non-Gaussianities on halo number counts using N-body simulations with different values of f NLloc. We show how current theoretical models fail to adequately describe the non-Gaussian mass function of halos identified with different overdensity thresholds, Δb. We explain how these discrepancies are related to a variation in the density profile of dark matter halos, finding that the internal steepness (i.e. the compactness) of halos depends on the value of f NLloc. We then parametrize these deviations in halo number counts with a factor κ(Δb) that modifies the linear density threshold for collapse according to the halo identification threshold used, defined with respect to the Universe background density. We rely on a second-degree polynomial to describe κ and employ a Bayesian analysis to determine the coefficients of this polynomial. In addition, we verify the independence of the latter on the sign and absolute value of f NLloc. Finally, we show how this re-parametrization prevents the extraction of biased constraints on f NLloc, correcting for large systematic errors especially in the case of halos identified with high density thresholds. This improvement is crucial in the perspective of deriving cosmological constraints with the non-Gaussian mass function from real data, as different mass definitions can be employed depending on the properties of the survey

Euripide, Ciclope. Testo, traduzione, analisi metrica e scholia

    No full text

    Get PDF

Rest-to-Rest Trajectory Planning for Underactuated Cable-Driven Parallel Robots Using Input Shaping: Preliminary Results

    No full text
Underactuated robots have fewer actuators than degrees of freedom (DoF) of the end-effector. This limits the number of configuration variables that can be controlled and results in possibly large oscillations during motion. Rest-to-rest planners are used to generate a trajectory of a subset of the configuration variables, and allow the system to transition between static poses. Such planners solve a boundary value problem with pose and twist constraints in the start and end states. The problem is solvable only if a nominal trajectory is modified by adding some free parameters, which are found by the solver so that constraints are satisfied. In this work, input shaping is used to modify the nominal trajectory. The problem of finding the shaper parameters is formulated as a feasibility problem, as this formulation allows nonlinear constraints to be enforced on variables. The proposed approach is validated through experimental tests on a planar 3-DoF robot suspended by two cables

Exploring the Future of Social Economy in the Financial Sector: Sustainable Finance and Credit Cooperatives

    No full text
The growing urgency of global sustainability challenges, intensified by climate disasters and socio-economic disruptions, highlights the need for financial systems that integrate ethical principles and societal goals. Credit cooperatives and ethical financial institutions are emerging as key players in aligning financial activities with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Existing literature explores sustainable finance methodologies, innovative regulatory frameworks, and financial instruments like impact investing. However, the potential of credit cooperatives and digital finance in fostering sustainable development remains underexplored. This study analyses the intersection of sustainable finance and credit cooperatives, emphasising their role in advancing resilience, inclusivity, and sustainability within financial ecosystems. Using a qualitative approach, the study reviews recent literature, policies, and case studies to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities in social finance and credit cooperatives. It evaluates regulatory innovations, digital finance advancements, and innovative financial instruments to propose actionable recommendations to policy makers and practioners. The objective is to provide insights into how sustainable finance models and credit cooperatives can bridge the gap between financial and social impact while fostering public policies that promote equity and innovation. Sustainable finance offers transformative potential for addressing global challenges. Credit cooperatives and technological advancements like blockchain and adaptive regulations can drive financial inclusion and sustainability. Future research should focus on empirical validation, hybrid financial instruments, and standardised impact metrics to enhance the scalability and effectiveness of sustainable finance initiatives

Fine properties of monotone maps arising in optimal transport for non-quadratic costs

The cost functions considered are c(x,y)=h(x -y), where h∈C^2(R^n) is homogeneous of degree p≥2 with a positive definite Hessian in the unit sphere. We study multivalued monotone maps with respect to that cost and establish that they are single-valued almost everywhere. Further consequences are then deduced

    No full text
Health care liability makes it possible to fully assess the relationship between the principle of sustainability and the rules on damages. In recent decades, in fact, healthcare litigation has been conditioned by constantly evolving jurisprudence, which has prevented a reasonable prior assessment of the extent of the consequences of assuming the risk. At the same time, health care liability has recently been affected — in addition to the entry into force of Decree No. 232 of 15 December 2023 on insurance obligations and the approval of the so-called T.U.N. — by the first pronouncements related to the Covid pandemic, which may represent an important check to test the sustainability of medical malpractice over the next few years
