Sustainability Reporting and Performance: Do Italian Companies Manage Their Narratives in Mandatory Settings?
Measurement of the inclusive cross section in final states with at least one lepton and additional jets with 302 pb−1 of pp collisions at = 5.02 TeV
A measurement of the top quark pair (tt ̄) production cross section in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV is presented. The data were collected at the LHC in autumn 2017, in dedicated runs with low-energy and low-intensity conditions with respect to the default configuration, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 302 pb−1. The measurement is performed using events with one electron or muon, and multiple jets, at least one of them being identified as originating from a b quark (b tagged). Events are classified based on the number of all reconstructed jets and of b-tagged jets. Multivariate analysis techniques are used to enhance the separation between the signal and backgrounds. The measured cross section is 62.5±1.6stat−2.5+2.6syst±1.2lumi pb. A combination with the result in the dilepton channel based on the same data set yields a value of 62.3 ± 1.5 (stat) ± 2.4 (syst) ± 1.2 (lumi) pb, to be compared with the standard model prediction of 69.5−3.7+3.5 pb at next-to-next-to-leading order in perturbative quantum chromodynamics
Effects of hypoxic training interventions on cardiometabolic health of adults with overweight and obesity: A systematic review and meta‐analysis
Obesity rates have surpassed underweight globally, increasing the burden of cardiometabolic complications on healthcare systems. Hypoxic training has emerged as a potential intervention to improve cardiometabolic health in adults with obesity, but evidence remains inconclusive. This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated whether hypoxic training is more effective than normoxic training in this context. A systematic search of PubMed, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library (up to June 2025) identified randomised controlled trials comparing hypoxic and normoxic training in adults with overweight or obesity. Outcomes included glucose homeostasis, lipid profile, and blood pressure. Subgroup, moderation, and sensitivity analyses were also conducted to explore sources of heterogeneity and assess the robustness of findings. Of 1815 studies screened, 9 (278 participants) met the criteria. Meta-analysis results demonstrated no significant differences between hypoxic and normoxic training for fasting glucose (p = 0.118) or fasting insulin (p = 0.415), with substantial heterogeneity observed across studies (I2 = 60%–77%). Similarly, lipid profile markers and blood pressure showed no significant between-group differences (all p > 0.05), also with moderate to high heterogeneity. Subgroup and moderation analyses partially explained this variability, suggesting greater fasting glucose reductions with shorter and lower-intensity hypoxic interventions. Hypoxic training did not outperform normoxic training in improving cardiometabolic outcomes. However, the considerable variability in intervention duration, hypoxic dose, and exercise intensity across studies limits the certainty of these findings. Well-designed, adequately powered trials are needed to determine whether specific hypoxic training protocols or participant characteristics may modulate efficacy in adults with overweight or obesity

tra quelle di teatro da vedere, in cui prevale la spettatorialità, e quelle di teatro da fare in cui prevale
l’esercizio diretto dell’attoralità e dell’autoralità. Tra le fila di queste ultime, si collocano le attività in cui
le pratiche artistico-performative vengono realizzate con la precisa intenzionalità di perseguire obiettivi
genericamente definibili come sociali (educativi, terapeutici, di cura, di formazione, di riabilitazione, di
inclusione...). Si tratta di quel teatro che in Italia chiamiamo sociale e che si inserisce, a livello
internazionale, nel più ampio spettro del teatro applicato. È su questo che si concentra il presente
contributo per valutare attraverso l’analisi di alcuni casi paradigmatici se, in che termini e con che pratiche le esperienze di teatro sociale possano divenire una risorsa nei processi di active ageing, l’invecchiamento attivo, impattando positivamente sui suoi determinanti
Photodynamic Therapy in the Management of MDR Candida spp. Infection Associated with Palatal Expander: In Vitro Evaluation
The aim of this work is to evaluate the effectiveness of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) against oral MDR (multi-drug-resistant) Candida spp. infections related to orthodontic treatment with palatal expanders through in vitro study. Methods: PDT protocol: Curcumin + H2O2 was used as a photosensitizer activated by a 460 nm diode LED lamp, with an 8 mm blunt tip for 2 min in each spot of interest. In vitro simulation: A palatal expander sterile device was inserted into a custom-designed orthodontic bioreactor, realized with 10 mL of Sabouraud dextrose broth plus 10% human saliva and infected with an MDR C. albicans clinical isolate CA95 strain to reproduce an oral palatal expander infection. After 48 h of incubation at 37 °C, the device was treated with the PDT protocol. Two samples before and 5 min after the PDT process were taken and used to contaminate a Petri dish with a Sabouraud field to evaluate Candida spp. CFUs (colony-forming units). Results: A nearly 99% reduction in C. albicans colonies in the palatal expander biofilm was found after PDT. Conclusion: The data showed the effectiveness of using aPDT to treat palatal infection; however, specific patient oral micro-environment reproduction (Ph values, salivary flow, mucosal adhesion of photosensitizer) must be further analyzed
Nuovi spazi per il collegio universitario "Lorenzo Valla" tra conservazione e valorizzazione
This contribution aims to illustrate the design research carried out on the “Lorenzo Valla” College, one of the twelve university colleges for the Right to Education in the city of Pavia. The building, formerly a Student House, dates to the second half of the 1930s, when the functional inadequacy of the old premises became apparent. Its functional and social needs at the time led to the choice of a new location, because it offered direct access to the Ticino River, encouraging sporting activities. Today, the history of the building and its preservation, as both historical and architectural memory, intersects with new demands for innovation, related to its continued use as a university residence and to performance, environmental and social upgrades. These include the need for new functional spaces designed as rooftop extensions. This issue has inevitably raised the question of vertical accessibility, which has been addressed through several proposed solutions
A Ray of Hope: Gamma Radiation for Microplastic Remediation
Urban wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) generate sewage sludge, which retains ≈95% of the microplastics (MPs) processed in wastewater. The literature describes sewage sludges with MP concentrations ranging between 400 and 170,000 particles kg−1 (dry weight) and when this sludge is applied to land, MPs spread into the environment. As a possible treatment for sewage sludge, this study aims to evaluate the effect of gamma-rays on the degradation of sludge MPs. The MPs utilized in the experiments are obtained from secondary sewage sludge provided by a municipal treatment facility and they are physic-chemically characterized (size, shape, composition). MPs are exposed to gamma radiation (γ-irradiation) at different time intervals and total doses to study the response process in sewage sludge. In particular, they are treated with γ-irradiation using cobalt-60 (60Co) at doses ranging from 0 to 116 kGy. In this study, MP degradation can be achieved with a maximum degradation percentage of almost 70%. Concerning the specific degradation, research results show that both MP forms exhibit the same 35% degradation rate. This study not only advances the knowledge of how γ-irradiation affects MPs, but it also opens a new approach to fight against the global problem of environmental MPs
