Sok: Zero Trust as a Strategy to Address Devsecops Challenges
Over recent years, Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps, hereafter) has evolved as a unique shift-left strategy that integrates security practices, early on in the Development and Operations (DevOps, for short) software development methodology. However, DevSecOps is not devoid of challenges. Insecure tools and insider attacks are some of the threats that can escape the security controls enforced in DevSecOps pipelines. In this paper, we analyze the possibility of embedding Zero Trust into the organization's developer workflow as a strategy to further secure DevSecOps by removing the implicit trust among the various components of the pipelines. Based on a systematic review of the present literature and for each phase of the DevSecOps life cycle, we evaluated the possible integration of current ZTA approaches
Reconstruction of mass balance and firn stratigraphy during the 1996–2011 warm period at high altitude on Mount Ortles, Eastern Alps: a comparison of modelled and ice core results
Paleoclimatic glacial archives in low-latitude mountain regions are increasingly affected by melt, which leads to heavy percolation and can remove snow and firn accumulated across months, seasons, or even years. Proxy system models, used for improved interpretation of glacial proxies and paleoclimatic reconstructions, generally do not account for melt because they are optimized for sites where snow layer removal by melting is negligible. In this paper, we present a mass balance model applied to the Mt Ortles drilling site, at 3859 m a.s.l. in the Eastern Italian Alps, with the aim of building a pseudo-proxy of atmospheric conditions during the formation of snow layers that survived to ablation. This pseudo-proxy is useful for improved dating and environmental interpretation of firn layers (< 15 m depth), affected by significant melt in the period 1996–2011, which includes the extremely warm summer of 2003. Here we show that the model significantly improves the interpretation of the firn stratigraphy. This is fundamental for detecting melted layers and for refining the dating of the core based on traditional annual layer counting of stable isotope and pollen seasonal oscillations
Search for excited tau leptons in the ττγ final state in proton-proton collisions at = 13 TeV
Results are presented for a test of the compositeness of the heaviest charged lepton, τ, using data collected by the CMS experiment in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV at the CERN LHC. The data were collected in 2016–2018 and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb−1. This analysis searches for tau lepton pair production in which one of the tau leptons is produced in an excited state and decays to a ground state tau lepton and a photon. The event selection consists of two isolated tau lepton decay candidates and a high-energy photon. The mass of the excited tau lepton is reconstructed using the missing transverse momentum in the event, assuming the momentum of the neutrinos from each tau lepton decay are aligned with the visible decay products. No excess of events above the standard model background prediction is observed. This null result is used to set lower bounds on the excited tau lepton mass. For a compositeness scale Λ equal to the excited tau lepton mass, excited tau leptons with masses below 4700 GeV are excluded at 95% confidence level; for Λ = 10 TeV this exclusion is set at 2800 GeV. This is the first experimental result covering this production and decay process in the excited tau mass range above 175 GeV
The Bronchodilator and Anti‐Inflammatory Effect of Long‐Acting Muscarinic Antagonists in Asthma: An EAACI Position Paper
As cholinergic innervation is a major contributor to increased vagal tone and mucus secretion, inhaled long-acting muscarinic antagonists (LAMA) are a pillar for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma. By blocking the muscarinic receptors expressed in the lung, LAMA improve lung function and reduce exacerbations in asthma patients who remained poorly controlled despite treatment with inhaled corticosteroids and long-acting β2 agonists. Asthma guidelines recommend LAMA as a third controller to be added on before the initiation of biologicals. In addition to bronchodilation, LAMA also exert anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic effects by inhibiting muscarinic receptors present in neutrophils, macrophages, fibroblasts and airway smooth muscle cells. Thus, besides bronchodilation, LAMA might provide additional therapeutic effects, thereby supporting an endotype-driven approach to asthma management. The Position Paper, developed by the Asthma Section of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, discusses the main cholinergic pathways in the lung, reviews the findings of significant clinical trials and real-life studies on LAMA use in asthma, examines the placement of these drugs in asthma clinical guidelines, and considers the potential for personalised medicine with LAMA in both adult and paediatric asthma patients
Seizing windows of opportunity in green global value chains: the role of industrial policies in middle-income countries
This paper investigates how middle-income countries can leverage industrial policies to participate in and upgrade within renewable energy global value chains. We distinguish between deployment and manufacturing chains and examine three sectors, solar photovoltaic, wind, and biomass power, across 12 middle-income countries. Using fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis, we identify key combinations of national preconditions and industrial policies—demand-side, supply-side and technology-focused—that enable different participation and upgrading trajectories. While participation is widespread in both chains, upgrading is more prominent in deployment, which presents lower entry barriers. In contrast, upgrading in manufacturing requires stronger sectoral knowledge, larger markets, and robust technology policies. Our results offer actionable insights for policymakers, emphasizing how targeted and context-specific industrial policy mixes are essential to seize windows of opportunity in these green global value chains. The study contributes to the literature on value chains and industrial policy by offering new comparative evidence and practical guidance for latecomer economies seeking to build capabilities and competitiveness in the green economy

Sustainable Digital Landscapes of Experience: The Unesco Memory of the World Programme
The aim of this paper is to address the impor- tance of sustainability standards in the creation of heritage digital landscapes, which are essential to ensure the longev- ity and meaningful impact of cultural heritage in the digital era. The present research stresses how the concept of sus- tainability should be addressed in its multifaceted nature, accounting not only for ecological but also social, econom- ic and cultural perspectives, and that it should be taken into consideration in all the phases of digitization, ensuring a comprehensively sustainable process. In order to shed light on these issues, this paper introduces the current state of the art of the matter; examines the challenges of digitizing cul- tural heritage; argues for a broader perspective on sustain- ability and presents the case study of the UNESCO Memory of the World Programme to evaluate the sustainability of digitization efforts within the creation of an international and cross cultural experiential field
