Search for heavy neutral resonances decaying to tau lepton pairs in proton-proton collisions at (Formula presented)
No full textA search for heavy neutral gauge bosons ((Formula presented)) decaying into a pair of tau leptons is performed in proton-proton collisions at (Formula presented) at the CERN LHC. The data were collected with the CMS detector and correspond to an integrated luminosity of (Formula presented). The observations are found to be in agreement with the expectation from standard model processes. Limits at 95% confidence level are set on the product of the (Formula presented) production cross section and its branching fraction to tau lepton pairs for a range of (Formula presented) boson masses. For a narrow resonance in the sequential standard model scenario, a (Formula presented) boson with a mass below 3.5 TeV is excluded. This is the most stringent limit to date from this type of search
Out-of-sequence recent thrusting revealed by surface and subsurface data under the Po Plain, Italy
No full textRecognizing recent activity at buried out-of-sequence thrusts is a complex task but has important implications for seismic hazard and risk assessment. Here we propose an example of methodology that includes subtle geomorphological and hydrological observations at the surface correlated with upper crustal 3D reconstruction by seismic sections and stratigraphic logs. The densely inhabited Po Plain (Italy) hides the front of the Northern Apennines fold-and-thrust belt, buried under a thick succession of Plio-Pleistocene deposits. The Emilia Arc, located in the center of this front, is composed of a series of folds and south-dipping thrusts. Hindward of the thrust front, at the surface, high resolution Digital Elevation Models and GPS measurements allowed to discover topographic anomalies that denounce recent uplift and broad tilting. These have been accompanied by ample late Pleistocene-Holocene migration of the river network, and river over-excavation. In correspondence of these features, subsurface data show north-verging folds and reverse faults involving Pleistocene deposits. From this integration, a scenario where two out-of-sequence thrust zones contributed to modulate shortening during the late Pleistocene and, possibly, Holocene, emerges. Hinterland migration of deformation has been favored by the higher sedimentation load above the outer thrusts and their close confrontation with the thickened Southern Alps buried fronts

No full textBased on ethnographic research on the aging of the Tunisian community in Italy, this article reflects on what it means to “live death in diaspora”. The life stories and ethnographic materials discussed here highlight the creative ways individuals relate to death, considering the challenges posed by the diasporic condition. For seniors of the Tunisian diaspora in Italy, deciding where to die and which homeland to select as a burial site depends on material factors that necessitate a renegotiation of symbolic meanings, spiritual principles, and religious beliefs. Such a choice also reflects an effort to redefine relationships with ancestors and descendants from a transgenerational perspective. Living death in the diaspora confronts crucial choices about prioritizing kinship ties in defining identities, memberships, and affiliations. In this tension between two territories, two countries, and two orders of values, ties of belonging and multiple identities, the seniors of Tunisian diaspora in Italy reshape ritual practices and symbolic meanings associated with death and the afterlife

No full textRAG-IoE: IoT context-aware information retrieval with Large Language Models in Industry 5.0
No full textHuman-centric design, intelligence, and seamless interconnectivity are key pillars of the Industry 5.0. A critical challenge in these scenarios is the efficient retrieval of relevant, context-aware information for workers within Internet of Everything (IoE) networks. Traditional information retrieval techniques struggle with the heterogeneous, dynamic data generated in industrial settings. To address this, we define a context-aware data model for IoE scenarios, on top of which we propose RAG-IoE, a novel Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solution to enable adaptive, scalable, and context-based information retrieval from both structured and unstructured data sources. Our approach organizes IoE data within a semantic framework, integrating hybrid retrieval methods. It combines structured search on a Knowledge Graph with unstructured data retrieval using embeddings stored in a vector database, followed by LLM-driven reasoning to refine results. This architecture enhances decision-making, reduces cognitive overload, and ensures precise guidance for industrial operators. We validate the efficiency and effectiveness of RAG-IoE using a novel dataset through both a user study and quantitative analysis, demonstrating its potential to optimize human-machine collaboration in Industry 5.0 environments
