Cooperazione tra esseri umani e intelligenza artificiale nei reasoning task: uno studio sperimentale qualitativo
AIneid, Narrating Mythology in the Age of AI: Exploring Human-Machine Collaboration from a Linguistic Perspective
In the digital age that characterises the contemporary world, we are in daily
contact with visual elements such as images or videos, and artificial intelligence
(AI) is taking an increasingly crucial role in generating this type of
content, showing the possibilities and limits of this process. In this article,
analysing the AIneid, Narrating mythology in the Age of AI project, we investigate
the world of generative AI in relation to the myth of the Virgilian
Aeneid with the aim of studying the process of text-to-image conversion
(intersemiotic translation), through a collaboration between researchers and
the medium of artificial intelligence, to carry out a double investigation: on
both visual and linguistic point of view
Why Intellectuals cannot call themselves fascists.
On Benedetto Croce’s Manifesto
The essay is about one of the central issues of Benedetto Croce's Manifesto of Anti-Fascist Intellectuals: the role and function of intellectuals in a political context dominated by fascism. Croce emphasizes the importance of maintaining a clear distinction between politics and culture, asserting that intellectuals must preserve their autonomy and independence from political influence. This is a crucial theme, as Croce views intellectuals as bearers of universal values rather than partial interests, believing that their involvement in politics could compromise the purity and integrity of culture. Furthermore, as Croce firmly states in this Manifesto, he is convinced that culture is inherently refractory to an imposed order and forcible social control. Thus, he concludes that fascism and culture are mutually exclusive and repellent to each other
Il lettore-spettatore-giocatore nel cartone animato interattivo. Analisi di un longplay
The article analyzes the longplays (video recordings with sound, posted on YouTube) of the adventures
played in the interactive cartoons Il cane di terracotta (2000), Il ladro di merendine (2001), and La voce
del violino (2001), based on the novels of the same name by Andrea Camilleri. These cartoons were
conceived and produced by Im*media and published by Sellerio. The audio in these longplays comes solely
from the video game itself, allowing for an analysis of the gameplay—that is, the interaction between player
and game, its mechanics, objectives, and plot. The goal is not to evaluate player performance but to examine
gameplays in relation to the novels. By applying tools from traditional narratology and game studies for
text analysis, as well as rhetoric and linguistics to analyze the adaptation process and identify variations,
the essay defines the identity of these derivative texts by tracing them back to the original works. It also
explores how the three novels are received within them and situates the interactive cartoons within
Montalbano’s narrative universe
CROSS-CULTURAL INFLUENCES ON CONSUMERS’ PERCEPTIONS OF SMART HOMES: A THEMATIC ANALYSIS OF UGC
This study conducts a thematic analysis of user-generated content on smart homes from
the United States and China using topic modeling. It investigates cross-cultural influences
on consumer perceptions by integrating two of Hofstede’s cultural dimensions with the
technology acceptance model. The findings provide valuable insights for tailoring
marketing strategies to different cultural contexts
SilverBus: enhancing mobility for seniors through demand responsive transport: a pre-post experimental study
The increasing trend of population aging has heightened interest in public transport policies that promote active aging. Given the limited availability of public funds, it is crucial to identify best practices and methodologies to guide public policy investments effectively. This study underscores the importance of thorough development, testing, and ex-post validation of hypotheses in transport policymaking for the elderly. The research, which was based on the analysis of survey data (250 valid interviews) collected prior to and following the trial of ‘SilverBus’ – a Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) service designed for residents over the age of 65 in Genoa, Italy – highlights the importance of the trial phase. The findings demonstrate that pre- and post-test analyses are essential to contain public costs and enhance service quality. The construction of a logistic regression model further aids in identifying significant factors influencing the willingness to use a tailored urban public mobility service dedicated to the over-65 residents. This comprehensive approach ensures that transport services are effectively aligned with the actual needs of the elderly population, promoting active aging and efficient use of public resources
Cultural Tourism and Climate Change: Challenges and Adaptations in Italian UNESCO Sites
Given the growing impact of climate change on cultural tourism, it becomes crucial for cultural sites to readapt their management strategies and tourism offerings in response to the growing climate crisis and its impacts on the site itself. However, despite the growing academic literature on the impact of climate change on cultural sites and tourism, more research needs to analyse ongoing protection and adaptation strategies of heritage sites. Our research aims to contribute to this theme, focusing on UNESCO World Heritage Sites. To achieve this goal, our study employs a comprehensive methodology, encompassing (i) a literature review on climate change and heritage sites management, (ii) a systematic text analysis of available management plans of the 59 Italian UNESCO World Heritage Sites to identify the presence of “climate change” and “sustainable tourism” topics, and (iii) an online survey to gather insights from site managers regarding the sites’ vulnerability to climate change and their adaptation strategies. The statistical analysis of the survey responses reveals emerging trends in this context. A set of guidelines, recommendations, and practical implications for the implementation of sustainable tourism practices are provided in the conclusion. Monitoring and evaluation criteria are also proposed to assess the initiatives’ effectiveness. This research contributes to the broader discourse on sustainable cultural tourism, offering valuable insights and practical recommendations for stakeholders to address the challenges posed by climate change
