Examining the Role of Customer Experience in a Multichannel Purchase Journey: Irish Students’ Perspective of Smartphone Purchase.
Marketing practices and researchers have adopted a holistic view of the customer purchase journey that advocates customer experience as a much broader aspect than service quality or satisfaction. However, as service providers offer their service through both offline (physical store) and online (web-based) channels, the customer journey has become complex, and there is a lack of understanding about customer experience in a multichannel purchase environment and its effect on channel preferences. Therefore, this dissertation examines the role of customer experience in a multichannel purchase environment by measuring the customers’ perception of the purchase journey. Specifically, this study focuses on the moment of purchase and post-purchase stage of the smartphone purchase journey in the Irish market to determine the following (1) Whether customer experience differs between online and offline channels (2) How customer experience is affected by perceived service quality and customer satisfaction (3) Effects of customer experience on channel loyalty. Quantitative data collected through an online survey from 147 postgraduate students who have purchased a smartphone in Ireland was used to perform statistical analysis and determine the role of customer experience. The findings of this research imply that customer experience is affected due to perceived service quality and overall customer satisfaction and that the customer experience affects future channel loyalty. Furthermore, it was found that, although customer experience does not differ between different channels, the channel loyalty was higher among offline channel customers, thereby indicating that customer experience is not the only determinant of channel loyalty. Although reliable findings were obtained from this study, its applications are limited to the specific context of this research. Therefore, future researchers can attempt to generalise these findings to a larger sample that represents a wider population of students or in a different smartphone market. Researchers can also examine other determinants of channel loyalty since it remains unclear why channel loyalty is higher among offline channel customers

A Pedagogical Approach to Assist Learners with a Generalized Anxiety Disorder.
The Purpose of this paper is to investigate a potential pedagogical approach that might improve the learning environment for students presenting with a generalised anxiety disorder. Generalised anxiety disorder, comes under the banner of mental health and is classified as a disability. (AHEAD 2020). The research objectives for this study are as follows: 1. To establish a context for mental health in higher education. 2. To identify if stigma is a barrier to learning for students with anxiety. 3. To identify the skills deficit in students with a generalised anxiety disorder. 4. To investigate a potential pedagogical approach that might foster skill deficits in students with a generalised anxiety disorder A review of the literature pertaining to generalised anxiety disorder identifies both physical and psychological impacts and how in turn, this affects learning. The literature also identifies institutional barriers to learning such as disclosure of mental health problems and associated stigma. Skill deficits such as self-advocacy, self-regulation and self-determination appear to be prominent in students with anxiety. The primary research set out to investigate how experienced lecturing staff can help develop these skill deficits in students with anxiety. The research methodology undertaken for this study followed an interpretivist / pragmatic approach using qualitative research. Primary data was gathered through eight semi - structured interviews. The findings from the secondary and primary research provides useful insights, into how to foster skill deficits in both students with anxiety and all other students. Recommendations for future research include a longitudinal study. This might provide for more informed solutions that would improve the learning environment for students with a generalised anxiety disorder

The Impact of Blockchain Technology on Clinical Trial Data Integrity
In this study it was shown how a new and emerging technology known as Blockchain, a data management platform, possesses the potential to address some of the predominant issues pertaining to clinical data integrity within clinical trial research studies. However, many obstacles and challenges persist with its implementation and these must be addressed, understood and solved before the technology can be utilized to manage clinical data. The main research objective of this study was to examine how Blockchain could be suited to address the concerns relating to clinical data integrity and to address the perceptions of participants involved with clinical data management to the technology and its potential application within clinical trials. Through an exploratory quantitative and qualitative mixed methods approach aligned with a pragmatist research philosophy, primary data was collected from participants who were purposively selected from a homogenous sampling pool that consisted of those with backgrounds in clinical data management. Primary data produced from this study highlighted the correlation of data issues that contribute towards the lack of integrity of clinical data with those found in secondary research. It was also found that the perception of Blockchain was generally positive and favorable towards its adoption within clinical trials. However, there was a degree of uncertainty surrounding the security of data within Blockchain. Various challenges were identified, primarily, the complexity of the technology and challenges related to compliancy with data protection laws. The conclusive determination of Blockchain’s suitability to address clinical data concerns, however, remains unanswered and further research is needed to test the application of Blockchain in real-world clinical trial environments. Further research and studies are also necessary to address the many challenges that face Blockchains implementation with clinical data management
GDPR & Data Privacy: Impact of Data Protection in Irish Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs).
Data privacy and protection is a concept which is developing due to the fast-paced evolution of information technology. The substantial reliance on technology especially due to the COVID-19 pandemic has peaked considerably. However, data protection laws such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is enforced to issue penalties in the event of any data breaches. Since the enforcement of the GDPR, all businesses have been mandated to implement the guidelines into their operations. However, the focus for the GDPR implementation and compliance have been majorly on large companies who are high regulators of data collection, processing, harvesting and storage. These large companies have contributed to a series of data breaches and violation of data privacy and protection laws put in place to curb such occurrences. The question therein lies about the state of implementation and compliance of small and medium sized businesses in Ireland. There is minimal attention on Irish SMEs to implement and comply with the GDPR. This study focuses on the impact, challenges and compliance of Irish SMEs in relation to data privacy and protection. It explores the importance of cyber and digital security to these businesses in relation to securing the personal data of their customers, employees and the business. It also portrays the opinions of the Irish SMEs about the General Data Protection Regulations and its relevance to their business operational standards. This study also presents the data analysis and findings derived from the interviews granted by willing Irish business representatives, managers and owners. It shares their perspectives and what they have experienced with the GDPR implementation and compliance. These perspectives were critically examined and evaluated for the purpose of this study

The Role of Films in promoting Islamophobia: Content Analysis
Said (1979) explains that the media over time has been populated with negative stereotypes that seek to create a link between Islam and acts of terrorism as well as all forms of violence (p.347). Given this, the film industry, which is regarded as a media tool, has been criticised for its role in enforcing negative stereotypes which result in anti-Islamic sentiments. For this reason, this research work seeks to analyse seven films that cut across different groups, to understand the prevailing stereotypes, how they are used as well as the non-verbal cues used in the films to pass across a message. Quantitative content analysis was employed to carry out the research, and the films were examined based on context, stereotypes, mis-en-scene and the Riz test proposed by Ahmed Riz. In an attempt to avoid a myopic and bias conclusion, the films selected were based on the link to Islam and Muslims rather than the theme of terrorism. The findings of this research conclude that while there is the prevalence of these negative stereotypes in the films examined, the concept in which they are used gives a clear understanding on the motive of the director which very quite often are used to raise awareness and educate viewers
