Dino Terra tra antifascismo e libertà

    No full text

Internal Structure and Consistency of the Level of Personality Functioning Scale-Brief Form: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

    No full text
The present systematic review and meta-analysis sought to assess the internal structure and consistency of the Level of Personality Functioning Scale-Brief Form 2.0 (LPFS-BF 2.0) across different populations and cultures. Studies identified through systematic research were subjected to eligibility criteria, resulting in 30 included studies and 110 effect sizes. Study characteristics were tabulated, their methodological quality was assessed, and findings were synthesized using a random-effects meta-analysis. Findings overall supported the internal structure of the LPFS-BF 2.0 and indicated sound internal consistency for the total scale. Moderator analyses indicated that internal consistency differed minimally by index type, sample type, gender, age, country, and language. The findings overall suggest that the LPFS-BF 2.0 assesses a coherent and internally consistent construct, making it a potentially useful tool for evaluating personality functioning across diverse populations. Future investigations should further explore interrater reliability, test–retest stability, and alignment with interview-based personality disorder severity

    No full text

ARIA-Italy multidisciplinary consensus on nasal polyposis and biological treatments: Update 2025

    No full text
In recent years, it was recognized that type-2 inflammation connects nasal polyposis and severe asthma (SA) in addition to other type-2 diseases. Thus, some biological drugs developed for SA appeared to exert a favourable effect also in nasal polyposis. So far, there are several trials supporting this concept; therefore, some monoclonal antibodies already used for SA were assessed also in chronic rhinosinusistis with nasal polyposis (CRSwNP), with promising results. Since different specialists are involved in the management of nasal polyposis (eg, pulmonologists, ENT specialists, allergists, immunologists, pediatricians), it was felt that an updated educational and informative document was needed to better identify the indications of biological therapies in nasal polyposis. We collected the main Italian scientific societies, and prepared (under the umbrella of Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma, ARIA) a document endorsed by all societies, to provide a provisional statement for the future use of monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) as a medical treatment for polyposis, possibly associated with SA. The above mentioned document was the first endorsed document on this aspect, and the additional evidence required an update. The current pathogenic knowledge and the experimental evidence are herein reviewed, and some suggestions for a correct prescription and follow-up are provided

    No full text

Blood and urine-based biomarkers in prostate cancer: Current advances, clinical applications, and future directions

    No full text
Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most prevalent malignancies in men, characterized by high clinical and molecular heterogeneity. Despite the widespread use of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) for diagnosis and monitoring, its limited specificity and sensitivity necessitate the development of more accurate biomarkers. This review provides a comprehensive overview of current and emerging diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive biomarkers in PCa, highlighting their clinical applications and future perspectives. PSA, though historically central in PCa screening, lacks tumor specificity, often leading to unnecessary biopsies or missed aggressive cancers. Recent blood-based biomarkers, such as the Prostate Health Index (PHI) and 4Kscore, improve specificity by integrating PSA isoforms or kallikrein protein levels with clinical parameters. Urine-based biomarkers like PCA3 and SelectMDx further enhance diagnostic precision, particularly in distinguishing high-grade tumors, and show potential in active surveillance settings. Prognostic markers such as Bcl-2, Ki-67, and EZH2, alongside genetic alterations like MCM7 and 8q gain, help stratify patients by tumor aggressiveness and risk of recurrence. Liquid biopsies, including circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) and circulating tumor cells (CTCs), offer non-invasive alternatives for molecular profiling, especially in metastatic castration-resistant PCa (mCRPC), and can identify actionable alterations such as BRCA1/2 or ATM mutations. Emerging technologies such as machine learning and single-cell omics are reshaping biomarker discovery. Artificial intelligence-driven models, like the replication stress signature (RSS), show promise in predicting relapse and therapeutic response. Single-cell RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics have deepened our understanding of PCa heterogeneity, tumour microenvironment, and resistance mechanisms. Furthermore, novel biomarkers, including exosome RNAs and immune-related markers (PD-L1, SOX2, TcellinfGEP), offer insights into tumour progression and immunotherapeutic potential. The urinary and gut microbiomes are also being explored for their diagnostic and prognostic roles in PCa. In conclusion, integrating advanced molecular tools and biomarker-guided platforms into clinical practice can significantly enhance early detection, personalized treatment, and monitoring in prostate cancer, paving the way for precision oncology

La retorica al servizio della comunicazione

    No full text

Social Acceptance for the Sustainability of the Agri-Biomethane Supply Chain: A PLS-SEM Analysis

    No full text
The transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources (RES) offers numerous benefits that can enhance the well-being of local communities. However, it is imperative to ensure that the public perceives RES projects as fully sustainable, a goal that requires a comprehensive evaluation of their social acceptance. Among the various RES options, the development of the biomethane supply chain has gained particular importance in Europe, especially considering the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the 2022 “REPowerEU” plan. In this context, the present study conducts a preliminary analysis of the social acceptance of agri-biomethane, focusing primarily on the key variable of “trust” in public administrators and energy investors to ensure its comprehensive sustainability. To this end, a survey was administered to a sample of 290 stakeholders residing in the Apulia region (Southern Italy). The data were analysed using PLS-SEM analysis to ensure robust, evidence-based findings. The results highlight the critical importance of building trust within local communities to foster social acceptance of agri-biomethane production. This can be achieved by strengthening perceived benefits, enhancing public knowledge, and promoting social participation. These insights may support policymakers in making informed decisions about community well-being and the energy transition, particularly in overcoming potential social barriers to the development of this supply chain

Efficacy and retention rate of secukinumab in psoriatic arthritis across different clinical phenotypes: insights from the Italian GISEA Registry

    No full text
Background: Randomized clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of secukinumab (SECU) in reducing disease activity in psoriatic arthritis (PsA), while real-world studies prove a broader perspective on SECU’s usefulness in everyday clinical practice. Objectives: To assess the effectiveness of SECU by evaluating drug survival and identifying potential predictors of clinical response and treatment discontinuation in patients with moderate-to-severe PsA, using real-world data from the Italian Group for the Study of Early Arthritis (GISEA) registry. Design: This longitudinal retrospective study included PsA patients treated with SECU, spanning from May 2016 to November 2023. Methods: Data from 1045 PsA patients, including 783 with peripheral-only PsA (perPsA) and 262 with peripheral and axial involvement (mixed PsA) were analyzed. Drug survival was estimated by Kaplan–Meier analysis. Clinical outcomes, including Disease Activity Index for Psoriatic Arthritis (DAPSA), Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI), Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Score (ASDAS, C-Reactive Protein (CRP)-based), and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) measures, were evaluated at baseline and at 6, 12, and 24 months. Adjusted hazard ratios (aHRs) for discontinuing SECU were determined using multivariate Cox regression models. Results: SECU survival at 24 months was 63.24%, significantly higher in mixed PsA compared to perPsA (p = 0.036). In the overall PsA population, DAPSA scores decreased significantly at 6 months, and further at 24 months (all p < 0.0001). In mixed PsA, ASDAS-CRP scores were significantly reduced at 6 months and remained stable through 24 months (all p < 0.0001). VAS pain scores also improved already at 6 months and continued to improve at 24 months (all p < 0.0001). Higher age (aHR = 0.98, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.96–0.99, p = 0.007) and lower baseline DAPSA scores (aHR = 1.02, 95% CI: 1.01–1.03, p = 0.014) were associated with greater persistence of SECU treatment. SECU was well tolerated, with no serious adverse events. Conclusion: SECU showed sustained clinical improvements in both peripheral and axial involvement of PsA patients over 24 months, with higher persistence observed in mixed PsA patients. Our findings highlight the favorable clinical and safety profile of SECU in real world
